Good post.  I also think its telling that most HD fanbois haven't said much about the effort Smith put in during the LCQ after he stalled it and couldn't get the bike restarted.  Smith rode his ass off and made up 10 seconds and 4-5 riders in the last 2 laps to have a shot at making the main.  Anybody that is a true MX/SX race fan would acknowledge that effort, even if it was his own doing for being so far back.  Clearly, he was motivated to get the bike in the main event.  I'd put money on him staying motivated for retribution.

And after that effort he figures taking the outside in the last corner of an LCQ is going to work out. (It was pretty impressive to get up there) He may be the most consistent guy out there. Just not in the way he would like.

Star will undoubtedly manage Jordon carefully, re: do not take out the golden goose.  Racing of any form can be prohibitively expensive, and to ignore the revenue Dangerboy brings would be, well, ignorant.

The crowd’s cheers for Deegan’s 3rd place drowned out Hunter’s victory.  And his autograph lines dwarf every other rider. No matter how much it stings, Jordon needs to play the long game by simply beating Deegan with pure speed.

Not even close to the same. It was Izers clear biased and whiney tone. That was unprofessional at best. How many other times has another rider in a press conference felt the need to step in and basically defend a rival?

Izer came across like a grown man picking on a child.

He was calling bullshit on Deegan's dismissive position that it was just a "racing incident." Anyone with half a brain can watch the sequence of events and clearly see Deegan was being a total dick and trying to take out Smith, which he ultimately succeeded in doing. This warrants some tough questioning from the media, especially since they are teammates and especially since it was just a heat race and especially since Jordan Smith was clearly faster than Deegan.

He didn’t take Smith down though? Smiths front tire getting into Deegans back tire/swing arm in a corner says that Deegan was in front of Smith, right?

Smith trying to pass chambers on the outside in the last corner of the LCQ was some C-class shit, man. He’s been in this class since RV was racing GPs. Time to figure it out.

To me, the whole thing was Smith's fault. He has been around a long time and should have ridden much smarter. Especially in a heat race! Come on Jordon! Geez.

It was almost like the moto gods punished him for not riding smart as he should have. Clearly, he was faster. Don't be stupid.

Why does this narrative keep getting repeated over & over…exactly what Deegan said himself at the press conference.

What does Jordan’s experience have to do with Deegan’s dirty riding (In a Heat Race), against a teammate, and horrific press conference?

Jordan is supposed to be fine with the kid rough/dirty riding him? He isn’t allowed to pass because of YouTube or Instagram likes?

The Deegan PR campaign showed its first kink in the armor. Star has a problem and I bet they know it.

That last time Smith got a win Deegan was racing 65s.

Tomac (and many other experienced riders) would not have gotten caught up in the incident the way Smith did. End of story.

LOL, Smith will be the one without a ride soon, not Degan. Laughing

I am glad so many Vitards think Smith is a complete joke. When he gets his next win it will be an awesome STFU.

I mean, not to sound disrespectful to the guys making their living that way but…not many of us are gonna care about an Arenacross win.

You can't take someone out from the outside.

Smith didn't shut off and literally slammed Deegan and fell.

I guess I didn't realize the Deegan hate was this deep. People making stuff up just to hate him lol.. Kids got more talent (that can't come from money, or parents) in his pinky than most of the goons here criticizing him. I'm no nut swinger, and I call a spade a spade. Just staying on 2 wheels after getting slammed showed his toughness.

you guys that are standing up for them pushing back on the media questions, you need to go and watch other real press conferences. When Tiger Woods and his wife were going through their nasty divorce the media would ask him about that in his post round golf interviews. Actually you could even watch the golf series on Netflix called, Full Swing. After their matches they grill them asking them if they were going to join the new LIV series and not even about the match they just played.

Quit acting entitled and answer the questions moto dudes and they won’t keep asking you about it. Plain and simple.

Agreed. Last week the media was roasted on vital for not asking questions when they were told not to. This week they are attacked for asking follow up questions on a question that wasn’t actually answered.

Problem is he didn’t really ask a follow up question he made a statement and then expected the riders (who he didn’t really ask a question to so everyone was quiet) to follow up on that statement

I find it odd you only mention the very last incident....

Not earlier in the lap when Deegan purposefully ran him very high, then actually checked up in a turn to attempt to hit him again..by my count that's 2-3 horrible rough riding incidents on one lap BEFORE the final incident in which Jordan went down. In a heat race, to a teammate, both in qualifying position.

Obviously Jordan was like WTF and got pissed. Only incredible luck kept Deegan up. Then he was pissed off and it ruined the LCQ for him. He didn't calm down enough for it.

I have no problem with the questions and applaud Izer for continuing to ask the same question that was not answered.  Deegan's nonchalant dismissive, "I don't care" laugh when ML asked him about it told me all I need to know. He is riding amazingly well yes, but I hope Smith drops him like a sack of potatoes at the next race.  Smith was clearly faster.

You’re clearly very emotional about this but I think if you take a step back you’d be able to see that Smith also could’ve toned it down and taken second place if he thought it was just a heat race that didn’t mean anything.

He chose to press the issue, it didn’t work out in his favor and he suffered the consequences.

Jordan's reaction after getting tussled around reminded me a lot of Barcia (or Langston back in the day), where they see red, lose their mind, and go for the kill.  The problem is, he spazzed and took himself out (and then did the same thing several more times).  I'm not a fan of Deegan at all (and he comes off a bit like a tool in interviews), but he arguably acted more like a veteran on the track than the actual veteran.  Which is probably why he'll go way further in the sport than Jordan Smith...sad but true.

The moves Deegan was making prior to Smith splatting himself reminded me of the old Matiasavich / Bradshaw / Larry Ward battles of the early 90s...I myself was a bigger fan of the epic Stanton / Bradshaw outdoor back and forth, but it's not like this stuff is new....

I like Smith also but unfortunately sometimes its out with the old and in with the new and after his meltdown last night he didn't do himself any favors. Sad

He's not a joke, but when you are a veteran rider you cant lose your mind and act like a novice at his first sx race, and their are lots of guys coming up that want his job.

Why is this a big deal? Deegan was on the outside wasn't he? I thought Jordan ran it in on Haiden and took himself out. Did I see it wrong?

Deegan was only involved in 1 out of 5 of Jordons crashes. I would say it was more him getting hot headed and trying too hard that screwed him.

In Stars eyes I'm sure Deegan was the more mature rider last night. Put their bike on the podium, scored some points, earned some money. Rock on man

End of the day they probably just want to see someone beat Hunter.

At the end of the day, or weekend,  it was just a motorcycle race.

There's another one this weekend, and you'll all be all to hell over something someone did during the heat of the competition there as well.

And a new villian will be born.

Or at least rekindle the hatred of one, or more, of the 250 racers from the west coast.

Which is why Deegan should have his head on a swivel regardless of what directive Star gives Smith.

It's amazing to hear so many people try to defend what Deegan did as no big deal. I really don't care who it was, or how "social media" popular a rider is, that was just stupidity. Star doesn't appear to want to handle the public relations side of the trailer trash clown show that everyone watched. Hopefully the AMA will do something...I won't hold my breath though. Not a good look for the sport, for Deegan and especially Star.

So what did Deegan do that was so wrong? He was racing for the heat race win. What exactly was he supposed to do, roll over & let Smith by? Had he did that, then the vital clowns would say he just gave up & let  Smith by. Seriously wtf? Deegan held the race line, Smith was faster in the whoops, why didn't he just wait till the next lap to blow his doors off? Did you see anyone all night try & make a pass in that S-turn?

Can't blame Deegan, for Smith not making the main. Yes Deegan fought for the position, but Smith been around long enough to wait & make the pass in the whoops, where he was clearly faster. Maybe he should start using his head. He went down like twice more in that hest race, plus the LCQ. His chances are just about gone. Dudes rode on about every top team.

Exactly & has been on most of the top teams. He should have used his head & made the pass in the whoops. You'd think as long as he's been in the 250 class, he'd figure that out.
