He appears to have pulled his head out of his ass in regards to messing with other riders which is nice to see.

Tell your friend that one clean race doesn’t abruptly bring an end to the pattern of riding like a jackass for the last decade.

I personally have never seen anyone say he doesn’t “deserve” to be out there, but let’s not put the guy on a pedestal for riding like he should for once, battling forward cleanly instead of backwards aggressively.

If he continues to race like he did last Saturday night, Heck Yah!

It’s a couple of races without butthead moves, let’s not get too carried away. If he can maintain his newfound tactics for a year, I’ll be a huge fan, let’s revisit this around March of 2024..

That gif reminds me of you whenever anyone criticizes Barcia.

Barcia is aggressive....no doubt.       I have no problem with that.   Contact is good, as long as people aren't trying to injure others.

Barcia rode great at both Daytona and Indy. He is definitely in the conversation with the top guys; contract year right?

Justin has all the speed, talent & technical ability to ride with anybody...and it showed last Saturday night. He can ride like that, and come through the pack without taking anybody out...and it showed last Saturday night. But, Saturday night was "special" with Tomac not riding well, Sexton not riding well...and Anderson being invisible. Chances are though, Barcia will turn into BamBam again before long and the haters will be out with the pitchforks again.

This younger pussy generation won't ever get it....  They'd rather everybody play follow the leader, and they'll just cheer for whoever they are told to cheer for.

Oh really?

So what is your favorite generation of racing then and did they just smash each other up in every turn?

I get a kick out of old timers who like to think everything was better and cooler in their "day" so tell us all about how much better it was.

Who said anything about "smashing each other up in every turn"? What an ignorant statement...

You don't have to go back that far.... and considering the ones from 'that day' are at the top of all of the all time wins, I'd say that yes, it was 'much better'...

Yep, we've all heard the Bob Hannah stories, I'm not old enough to remember them, but who else?  Were the other 39 racers on the gate also playing smash up derby every turn or was it mainly just Mr. Hannah?

I'm not going to play the "young" "old" labels game.    The Barcia whinging spews forth from all ages.

Sure is entertaining....Grinning

Safe to say, some people around here would have lost their shit back in the day though....

That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Ya'll talk about "back in the day" like it was t-bones in every corner.... was it really like that?

We all know Hannah liked to smash 'em up....so there is one guy, well this generation has Barcia and Anderson, they ain't afraid to swap paint....

Just trying to find out some details on who the rest of the old school smash up crew were.

Or are we just dealing with as 'The Great Divide' would say "On the other side of memories fence, the grass is always green" ??

I'm not saying one generation is better than any other , but man....in the 80's? Chuck Sun , Magoo , Glover , Bailey , Ward , O'mara , Lechein , Johnson .....it was like we were watching God's on dirt bikes. And then the 90's with MC , Emig , Bradshaw , Stanton , JMB , and some of the other guys mentioned above from the 80's.....was all incredible.

For myself , the 80's and 90's were the epic era of MX and SX.  Don't get me wrong....I love the sport now too , but when I was younger I lived and breathed it , every second of every day.

If he’s fast enough to qualify he deserves to be out there bumping and grinding within the rules and if not be penalized for it. Unfortunately but fortunately the fans don’t get to decide who “deserves” to be out there.

Yeah, we are all gonna have that bias.

I'm more curious about how Huck insinuated that previous generations of racers were out there playing crash derby compared to the guys now....I just don't think that was the case....I believe that every generation has had a Hannah or Barcia who isn't afraid to ride rough but I don't think there was ever a time where it was just full contact racing between everyone.

It gets brought up a lot in threads about rough riding "Oh you wouldn't have been able to handle such and such era."...well someone show me an era that had more than a couple dudes who were known for consistently riding rough.

It's just old dudes wanting to look cool in my opinion.

That's all.

This forum is always "all good with a bit of contact", until it happens.

Then there's a weeks worth of pitchforks and over-analyzing.
