Worst stadium to attend?

2/20/2023 9:55pm Edited Date/Time 2/20/2023 9:58pm

Only thing I wondered is why pay to get a car that costs 4 times the amount to rent than a low level Nissan or Toyota? Do you think these guys do anything other than go from the hotel to the stadium and back a few times before they fly out Saturday night or Sunday morning?

Right? I can only imagine the amount of frequent flyer miles and rental car/hotel upgrades these guys rack up throughout the year.

Surprised AC rented a car.   I thought all the top guys just hop in a cab and say "take me to the stadium."   :-)

Thank you for this information.   Glad he didn't get anything stolen.

No they are not even close to the same, and we will talk about the shittiness of Oakland. It is objectively worse.

Oakland has sucked for as long as I can remember. In 84 I had a gear bag stolen, my buddy had his box van, parked next to ours, cut into and everything stolen.

We went to a segregated Dennys (we didn’t know) to get something to eat after the race, and left after not being served for 2 hours.

How about just not be a scumbag and leave peoples shit alone

Detroit is less desirable because we can't get into the pits. Due to being smack downtown Detroit there's no room for the pits in one area, and they're scattered here and there giving zero pit access (unless you know someone and get a wrist band - happened for me once). No Pit Party puts it up there as one of the worst to attend in my mind. I believe there are a few SX locales with no pit access.

The pit layout has nothing to do with pit access. Being a Northern State in the middle of March is why there is no pit party.

We had pit parties when it was at the Pontiac Silverdome.  Granted, that was typically a few weeks later (early April), but the weather is not that different.

Seattle.

The stadium is nothing more than an open-air Kingdome. As a result of that plus the date it’s usually on the schedule, you get to freeze your ass off and maybe even get soaked…all to watch a shitty track due to them having to plan for rain.

As an added bonus, you now get to deal with the current state of downtown Seattle, ie a complete crime-filled shithole.

I only live about an hour away and haven’t attended a Supercross in about 5 years because of it. I’ll go again when I move to AZ…which thankfully isn’t too far away.

Early April to Mid March is a big difference. No northern state in winter has a pit party. That was a team and feld decision. Toronto has had 1 as well, it got scrapped. It’s not convenient, nor reasonable, for riders to sit in freezing temps signing autographs.

has nothing to do with Ford Field. Which is a fantastic stadium (everyone in the industry agrees).

Mid march has highs of 30, early april can be in the 60’s

I was thinking about all the Vital grousing about Oakland when I was actually at the race. I had a great time with my 8-year-old daughter. It's her third one. It's an awesome family event, and I have never had any trouble with my car getting broken into. For the vast majority, it's a great race. The workers are cool and it was just a great vibe, and a fantastic race. No complaints whatsoever.

You may have it right, but i didn't realize it was only the northern races without pit parties.

I'd love to see 60 in April, but that's the exception rather than the norm. March is certainly colder than April around here... where the heck is that global warming anyway???

Anywhere the weather allows for a pit party, they have one. It's a huge money maker.

They can also do it if the stadium has indoor pits.

Where is global warming you ask?  80 degrees in DC on Thursday and we've broken some high temps this winter in Ohio.

I am going to Detroit for the first time and am disappointed to read no pit action.

Haha I can’t argue with this one. But as a little mini vacation Seattle SX was awesome. Lots of stuff to do for visitors.

On Pulp race review of Oakland, JT talks about witnessing a robbery in broad daylight by people in masks at a Chipotle/Starbucks/Raising Canes parking lot....

You couldn't pay me to go to that stadium these days.

I've gotta put this one in just to share how bad things have gone in every American city.  Denver is a shit hole regarding the simple homeless starvation camps on the street with tents for miles. Morning news break Tuesday was three dudes beating a white dude near death getting off a light rail train stop. Is this where you want to take your family?

Went to Oakland. Took my truck that has a bed mounted spare (locked) and a GSSF decal on the back window.

Not saying that Oakland is the "Taj Mahal" of stadiums. Just go and watch the races, if you do not like Oakland then you already have your answer, or any other stadium for that fact. Cool

Too funny Homer.

And we spell it "cognizant" here in the USA.

Oakland sx is always one of the best I have been to. The stadium has a great vibe every time. The workers aren't ass hats like some stadiums and the viewing is great from any area.  Not to mention the tailgating in Oakland is almost always a great time.

Regardless of the stadium or event, the best practice is find a WalMart etc or better yet a close by police station and have Uber pick you up there and drop you off at the stadium.  Eliminates the traffic issues before/after and Uber both ways is probably less than parking.

Go into the stadium to watch practice then find a place to have dinner in between practice and the night show. The pit party is cool but it's not a game changer. Ford field is a really cool stadium.

The 80 degrees in DC isn’t the climate…it’s all the hot air and bullshit from all the politicians.

A segregated Danny's in Oakland in 1984? Lol gtfo. I've been living a suburb outside of Oakland since my family moved here from Pittsburgh in 1988. People love to over sensationalize Oakland, a city they've been to a few times or off of what they have heard or seen online. You think it's bad now? You should've seen it in the mid 90's to early 2000's. My buddies and I would roll the O in that time, exit the 580 at Golf Links and drive to the numbered streets to buy "bombsacks." 4 whiteboys from the suburbs in nice cars and trucks in downtown Oakland late at night. Never once got robbed or a gun pulled on us. Got ripped off on what was in the bags a few times and had a buddy get caught in a drug bust, but that was the extent of it. I worked at a mortgage company in an office building right across the 880 from the Coliseum. I've went to customers houses in the bad areas to get loan docs signed after dark. They were 10 times more pleasant then the rich yuppies in Blackhawk, Pleasanton, Danville, and San Ramon where I lived. Every big city has bad areas, break ins, and crime, but you guys make Oakland sound like a 3rd world country with your naive statements. Go check the real estate values of the houses up in the Oakland Hills. You want a shithole city close to 3rd world status? Go look up the news in Stockton and every city down the 99 to Fresno. Those a shithole cities.

Been to all of them to many times and I’d say Oakland and Detroit. Everything about Oakland including the stadium is a complete shit hole. Detroits stadium actually isn’t bad but the area obviously sucks.
