So grateful I get to watch live AMA supercross from my couch every Saturday.

When I was a kid, we had to wait until the mailman delivered Cycle News on Wednesday Woohoo Smile

Same here! Even in the mid 90’s coverage was delayed weeks and all you got was a 45 minute program with heat and main highlights.

Oh yeah, even much more recently going back and watching old races, we have come a long ways. There’s always a lot of bitching from everyone, rightfully so when things could be better, however, it continues to improve.

Will you guys please make up your minds?  Are they and the entire crew the most wretched things that have ever existed or a bunch of folks doing the best they can for a sport that probably draws the same number of viewers as curling?

I'm a rabid fan of dirt bikes but I'm also realistic about how much money the broadcast makes and how much they're willing to spend on production.

As for Ricky...he's a-ok with me.  I don't mind how much he stumbles.  Reminds me that he's a human being that was blessed with an "undeniable" talent.  He could be a total douche when talking about the riders screw ups...but he gives props and support.  I dig that dude.

Peacock service has never been an issue in any way for me when it comes to airing the race itself.    The service works flawlessly.

The only beef I have is with the fawking commercials...not even close to the target demographics.  Not to mention airing promos for smut content TV shows.... you have kids watching this event for crying out loud.

None of this is to be confused with dipshit Bondo producer and all the dumbfawkery every week.

I agree! Its almost best to watch the next day. Can fast forward through the fluff, turn a 3hr race into 2hrs.

The broadcast pretty much guarantees I will never attend another supercross in person again. I love It! We watch Sunday morning and skip the commercials. DB is the best broadcaster and Ricky is fine. I'd rather have him in the booth than not. James is freaking incredible! Lot of complainers I remember back when the quickest results were Monday morning via Fax report at our local Kawi dealer.

I used to take my son to StL SX every year.  I couldn't really see anything except tiny bikes far away...even with good seats.  He grew up and out and I said, "No more having to go to SX...woohoo".

Went to Dallas SX last year.  A mix of adults and kids.  That gigantic screen and better seat arrangement made it really fun again.

My point is...don't give up attending.  Try a different venue, different group.  You might hit pay dirt.Wink

Yeah I remember combing TV guide for any ABC Wild World of Sports for the ‘81 Carlsbad USGP and Superbikers. Then I got lucky when my high school had MXA and Dirt Bike magazines.
Seeing Moto in media was pretty special back then.
Peacock and the production crew aren’t without flaws but damn it’s great.

There is a difference between Peacock and the production.

Peacock is simply the provider.  On the whole they provide a stable streaming platform and do a good job.  It is indeed very nice to have the Peacock option.  Well worth the money.

The production on the other hand ...  well there are several other threads that discuss that.

I agree Peacock is great, have had zero issues. The production? Thats another story.
The old had to wait until Cycle News came out a week later or watched Wide World of Sports a year later is getting tired for me and Im from that Era.
I dont have a problem criticizing where its due, The times have changed from five decades ago!

Or..if you're really an old dude you would wait all year to watch the Carlsbad GP on Wide world of Sports. LOL

I always start the race about 40 minutes after it begins and I can skip all the fluff.

I tried to watch the first couple of races that weren't televised on Peacock next day, and I had to watch the commercials.  I tried to fast forward through the fluff and it came back to commercials with a timer in the corner. It did probably save some time, but nothing like watching it next day on DVR. This is my first go-round with watching sports over the internet, I wasn't expecting to have to watch commercials on a pay service.

I agree with most of what you said, with the exception of "draws the same number of views as curling". When flipping through channels and curling has been on ESPN or whatever channel, it looks like maybe a few hundred people there vs. 40to50k in a stadium for sx. I have heard this argument before and sorry I just don't buy it. Poker is another thing that I just can't see a lot of people just sitting around watching on TV, seems about as fun as watching paint dry.

Some would say watching the NFL, NBA, MLB or NASCAR is like watching paint dry.

I would be one of them.

Yeah because it’s not 1995 anymore. The coverage lately is great but I don’t think we should be blowing anyone for supercross barely keeping with the times.

The “we used to have to” thing is lame. Yea I remember. Coverage is better now. I don’t have to set my vcr for 2 am on a Wednesday. But it’s not anywhere near where it should be, FELD (or is it NBC?) simply doesn’t care about the sport.

Whoever is in charge of the tv package clearly doesn’t care and is doing the bare minimum, this would be evident to even the most causal of moto fans and it’s embarrassing honestly. They need to take a page from MXGP’s production.

They missed the start of the 450 lcq by like 20 seconds in Oakland 🙃

I think there is a lot of room for improvement in the production...  But the video quality and my connection using T-mobile 5G internet has been flawless.

There is a channel on my LG tv that is dedicated to only cornhole championships. People watch some surprising stuff I guess.

Again, I fully appreciate that we can watch 4 rounds of AMA Supercross for $5.00 ($4.99 a month) <-- that is one helluva deal right there!

Every aspect of humanity has room for improvement, Correct?

When friends and acquaintances ask me how I'm doing my reply is always "things are great!" nobody wants to listen to us complain.

I'm sure peacock has a customer relations department that would love to hear your suggestions on how to improve the broadcast or how to help them increase their subscribers.

I remember "watching" the mx nats via dialup and a text broadcast from a guy at the races.

I definitely enjoy watching races live from home.  However, there was something about reading about the races after the fact back in the day, good writers can capture the scene by using some poetic license.  I still remember reading about Magoo launching his Maico over a gap nobody else did, never once saw him actually do it, but remember the words describing it!  Sure, I'd rather pull up the replay on youtube now, but there is something to be said about solid moto coverage via articles, and thankful for vital adding more written content to the site!

My favorite thing NBC does is PAN AWAY FROM THE POINTS LEADER DURING A FAST LAP IN QUALIFYING TO WATCH ROCZEN SITTING IN THE MECHANIC'S AREA DOING NOTHING. FOCKIN A.

Of course the coverage could/should be better.  But I firmly believe that NBC/Peacock are in the money makin' bidness.  We simply don't have the viewership for them to spend big money on premium production.  We can all be butthurt that our sport doesn't get the production we'd like but money talks and we just aren't big enough for them to listen or care.

What I'd really like to see is NBC/Peacock DEMAND that each rider must wear a GoPro or they won't broadcast.  When folks actually see how tight and insane the sport is...might get some action junkies to tune in.Blush
