How do you adjust the idle? Only weird thing I noticed today on the first ride was it idles higher when I put it in gear. Another guy there on a 23 was doing the same. The cold start knob doesn’t seem to adjust like the previous ones.

I can confirm that I noticed this about mine as well.. felt like cruise control in the pits.. like high idle..

Has anyone found any of the gytr parts? I wanted to try the hydraulic clutch. I might get a nissin from a Honda or Kawasaki and I’m sure rekluse will make a slave cylinder eventually.

10th of March…possibly.

Total optical illusion. I'm likely in same boat as you trying to avoid the carbon ones price lol.. I have to do something before Daytona tho.

Idk how I feel about the new YZ. Long time YZ rider and I rode the new one today. Giving me stable honda vibes for sure

Anyone have more info on this? Sounds like we all have that happening. I would assume it's programmed to help keep from stalling? It's not necessarily an issue just curious! Only time I notice is when I get going. No on-track discomfort.

I have many say this or similar comment - even from Yamaha or industry insiders.

Will be great when we get more people on the bike - especially those coming from 22 Yam 450.

I don’t have any more info but after looking at the parts diagram, I did find what is suppose to be the idle set screw. It’s sort of hidden but just above the cold start knob. I’m going to try to adjust it later to see if it works

Coming from a honda, and the limited time I have on my yz, I can certainly say the 23 yam feels more stable.

Now, I can't compare to previous gen yam. I couldn't make myself buy one of those because to me the rider triangle and width killed it as an option. I can see 22 owners worrying a little based on what we've all read, but I don't feel like it'll be a deal breaker for previous Yamaha guys. Turns like my Honda on but definitely has a more stable in feel.

THe high idle thing, I never once noticed it on track. Only in pits on my way to the truck.

Finally got the new bike together and went for the initial ride. The bottom end is very smooth and the mid range comes on strong and pulls forever. I never felt the nervousness others speak of, but we have slower, deeper tracks than the west coast. I set my fork height at 5mm with a sag of 100mm and will run that until i can test a faster track in a couple of weeks.

I got a chance to ride a 2023 Yz450 at a Yamaha demo day last Saturday.  It's freaking great!

It turns on a dime, seemed very stable under power, and the power is very rideable.

It's the first 450 I've ever considered buying (being a 125 dude).  Surprised the heck out of me.

Just the cover. I have a wing cover and foam coming to test it.

Very interesting write-up ---> So you as a 125 guy are loving the 23 YZ450F. Is it the nimbleness/lightness and less aggressive low-end that makes it so appealing?

It sounds like the 23 YZ450F may be getting into KTM 350 SX-F territory ... and if so, I may need one of the new YZ450Fs!

Just got mine this weekend 🥳

After years of riding Honda it’s time to try something else. Just waiting for some good weather here in the Netherlands.

Airfilter system looks fine, just curious how the system is doing by the others? Read an article from MXA where they put the airfilter system in their ‘hate list’. It looks better than the Honda system for me…

MXA setup is interesting. One tooth 'smaller" rear sprocket, 105 sag and fork not 7mm, not 4mm but flush!

One tooth smaller will let them ride 2nd gear all track then?

Other sounds same as mine with 2022 model. Always forks flush and sag 105-8 but we have only sand tracks.

i hope everybody gets their bikes and loves them.   But....this is the same hype that happens every couple of years.   We all think that if we don't get this new bike then we are totally missing out and yamahas will be running everywhere.

I think it's funny how we as a group are about our bikes....This bike does sound awesome but believe when i say it WILL NOT change the sport.

Interested to hear your review. I have a Honda now and thinking about switching.

Probably will not be riding the bike earlier then March. Just don’t like riding my new bike in the mud for the first time 😅 Till then I’ll grab my 07 CRF450. But when the time comes, I’ll give you a review.

Not "sport changing" but I believe any positive moves are elevating the game. This bike is very positive baring any catastrophic engine failure.. excited to take her for another indoor rip this weekend.. even tho I'm sore as hell from my first ride since Sept lol..

Yes!  I rode the 22 at the demo day last year, and I can say that the '23 feels entirely different.  It doesn't feel heavy.  It feels nimble, but with tall gears.  I rode the 250F afterward, and preferred the 450.  Totally surprised me.

I usually do alright racing my 125 in vet classes.  I think I could do some damage with this bad boy.

I'm probably going to stick with the 125 though.  I like how 125s make you ride, all out, in the right gear, etc...

If I decide to get a second bike, I would definitely be looking at this bike.  Again, this surprises the heck out of me.  I'm 60, and I've always ridden 125s.

I'm skeptical as well until I ride mine.  Still too wet here, even warm days right now just makes bigger puddles of melted snow.  So no immediate plans yet.

I kept my 21 KX450 just in case I don't like the YZ better.  Just gonna sell whatever bike I like less.  It's a risk but I didn't want to commit to a full year of riding a bike that is worse than my old one.  I guess I like the Kawi enough to be afraid of losing it.

I rode my buddy's 21 YZ450F and thought it turned better than my Kawi, and I liked the map he had (Keefer) better than my bike's motor.  The cockpit felt really strange though and his personal setup was different than how I'd do mine as well.  So here I am.

I just got a package from Guts in the mail with their seat foam (stock height and regular firmness), so I'll report back any feedback I have on that once I get it unpacked and compared to stock.

Yeah I agree with that general sentiment too.  The YZ had a lot of good things going for it, not the least of which is being able to remap the motor with your phone.  I'd been telling myself for years (since before my last two KX450s I was on YZ smokers), if they ever made the 450 skinny and lighter I'd try one.  The early specs convinced me to put a refundable deposit down in August just in case, and the early ride reviews convinced me not to cancel it.

That's EXACTLY what I said about potentially becoming a Yamaha guy. IF they got skinnier... Well... They did, so I bought the first one that showed up that was available. I took kept my previous bike on hand (2021crf450rwe) Incase I hated the yam.. well, Hondas being prepped for sale.
