I think Chiz needed a button in that LCQ

I don't think so. His momentum was completely dead.

He'd of made the main if he go a better start. Number 1 rule of taking someone out don't take yourself out

Did you see Thrasher struggling to start his bike after going down?  He has a button.  Remember Sexton's bike not firing up right away after running into Eli at Washougal?  I think he's got a button too. 

Honest question...does a rekluse let the bike start in gear like being in neutral?

I've owned a few 4t's and I have never been able fire one up while in gear with clutch pulled...never.  Neutral or nothing.

I was thinking this would be a thread  when I saw him struggle.  It might have helped. But they have those bikes starting so easy normally . So who's really to say if it would have fired any quicker with a button then it did kicking it.  I was thinking that was one of the times it really could have helped , but hard to know for sure. 

If he'd had a recluse he wouldn't have had to restart the bike!

On a side note after jetting properly I could always start my carbureted bikes in gear no issue. You would think fuel injection would have made it easier, but apparently not.

N is probably easier to start for you because of different ignition timing/fueling for easier starting.

The clutch ain't gonna make a difference there.

But people from Vital can kick their Suzukis over in 1 maybe 2 kicks? Seems like a Chiz problem not a Suzuki problem. 

I think if Chiz pulled the clutch lever in, he wouldn’t have needed a button…..I guess his lack of on the cusp LCQ experience showed there 😂

But in all fairness they way he hit and awkwardly bounced off, it would have been pretty hard to hold onto the clutch. If anyone but ARay was in 5th, they go straight through anyway 🤣

Yeah, except their HRs didn’t hit 200 trying to kick a dog bike over. 

Same here, technically speaking it doesn't make much sense to me, I don't know if the clutch just never fully, fully, literally 100% disengages when in gear, but it *seems* like the clutch can take enough out of it to allow it to allow it to start in gear. Like there isn't enough grunt slipping through the cracks to let the bike creep, but it will NOT start in gear.

Similarly backed up by how until the bike warms up a little, it won't go into gear without stalling, even with the clutch pinned to the grip. That's a fairly common KTM trait. Not a knock on them, they're as good as it gets once it's anywhere near up to operating temp.

Back to Chiz, bad luck, dude's awesome, and I'm someone who likes the yellow ones, but I bet a button would have been nice. Even if it didn't fire immediately, at least the stress and exertion would be lower.

Suzuki lovers always say it will go first kick? It didnt. 

I hear you but it's typical Murphy's law (or sod's law over here), it'll probably start first kick every time... Until that time when it really matters.

The same can be said for a starter motor, like a gun jamming or whatever else, shit happens and often it'll happen at the worst time. I guess at least hitting a button isn't as taxing physically though.

 
Settle down Chiz Army, it’s a joke. He did nothing wrong. When you’re going for the last spot in an LCQ all bets are off.  

I think it may have saved him some time if he had a button, but not sure he would have qualified.

Can only hope Suzuki was watching from Japan and taking notes.

It was karma for a blatant torpedo job. 

I was at the race in Houston and I completely missed the sequence of events with Chisholm, Noren, and Ray.  I heard the crowd roar but it was about the same time as the leader crossed the finish line.  I thought it was unusual for the LCQ winner to get that crowd reaction, but my small section was cheering for a different reason.  Instead of following the 4th and 5th place riders like we all do, I was following the leader.........who happened to be my son.   I had to watch it on Peacock later to see what actually happened.
