Good on him, sounds like this one hit home and those are the real lessons learned.  Here is too hoping that he comes back healthy with the same drive he had coming in.

6 months I blew mine out rigging a mud rig down in Newark nj. Then drove a non drive by wire Mack trk to a island off sc. then worked 4 weeks 7 days a week on the strongest horizontal drill rig in the world. It hurt like hell. Had it reconstructed went back to work in 4 months. Then blew everything out in my shoulder, game keepers thumb and broke 4 vertebrae. My contract for 6 months 450k take home was terminated for a European co. Injuries can mess your life up. Damon huffman raced after 3 months acl reconstructed knee. At 3-4 months the graph is solid. A packers surgeon did mine . A Grest surgeon cuts the time down. He should be 100 % by may.

Great another self fellating profeshenal story. Your crazy if you believe that. He did more then just ACL. Surgeries have gotten a lot better but you won’t see him back on a bike for quite some time.

Acl is the main injury the mcl, etc sounds like minor damage. I blew mine out in 96 yrs surgery is much better now. No ovr night in hospital for 1. I saw Damon at red Bud 96 his 1st race back . He holeshot his qualifier and was super smooth mistake free. Skinny legged Damon raced 3 months later.

If there's any silver lining it might be the MCL injury. I did my knee - mcl, acl, meniscus, tibial plateau fracture. Very similar but my mcl was torn right through, docs said there's not much they can do and it's still floppy 10 years later.

Glad it sounds like all his injuries can be fixed/healed at least.

MCLs can be reconstructed. Is it something you've looked into since?

PCL is major. MCL usually don’t get repaired. If there’s major meniscus damage it will lead to arthritis down the road. And adds to the recovery time.

Any respectable surgeon will tell you that while the ACL is intact after about 3 months it is no where near full strength and very easy to re injure.

Pretty much about as bad as a knee can be blown out. If there's a silver lining his tibial plateau fracture is not displaced and his PCL is not completely done.

Hope he has a full recovery and can get back on the bike this year at some point.

Oh ok.  My leg was really skinny at 3 months Dr said build the strength up . I still rode Mx waiting on surgery. Bought a jet ski rode that a lot. Go cart racing, bmx, mtn, etc. Party 7 nights a week at my place on the river. I Loved being injured it’s a freaken blast. Plus I got paid 700+ a week. Only on crutches 10 days after surgery I thought they slowed me down too much and I figured I would heal faster without them.

This is what I see in the first post of this thread. Is it not visible to you?

Damn that's gotta wreck havoc on the mental game to do all that work and go down like that. Knees suck but at least it wasn't worse.

Being injured sucks period. But I bet he would take a tib/fib break over a knee, as it would heal faster. Either way it sucks, the kid has been put through the ringer. Hope he comes back strong again.....

2 crashes in a row that weren't entirely on him, this one we can sit up here watching a replay saying he should have chopped the throttle and yes he should have but things move quick and a racer has nothing but holeshot on his mind at this point.

Still young I hope he gives it another go.

It's got to be a really tough situation for Austin. He's had the talent and speed to be at the very top of his sport only to be continuously sidelined by serious injuries season after season. Although he is no longer the cocky kid coming up through the ranks with mega talent, you know that having to grow up in the public eye of this sport with every computer jockey expert expressing what he did wrong and how he "should" have ridden has to be disheartening.

I think every rider posting in this thread would kill to have the skills & speed of AF, and for a guy that has literally lived in this sport from a very young age with every set of eyes being on him constantly since his mini days I think he has matured immensely over the last couple of years. Keep your head up Austin.

Mav,

This is the same problem I posted about last week where Social Scoop posts are not rendering correctly for some people, including me on multiple browsers.

I don’t see the Forkner post from the OP either.

Devs need to correct this.

I had the same issue.  I did a browser refresh (Firefox) and it is visible now.

Tibial plateau is a gnarly one. I was down for almost 6 months from just that without the rest of the ligament damage that AF has. Really feel for the dude. Was hoping to see a good season of battles between he and Jett.

I cant see it either. Most videos wont play on here for me anymore. Social scoop article was just text, no pictures or videos showed up. Kind of annoying, but I prefer to read anyways so I just move along.

20 years of moto tells me Mitch is firing him right when he heals up. Kid needs big changes mentally and scenery.

The more damage there is in the knee the longer you have to wait for the swelling to go down to even do the ACL surgery. I think the last thing an injury prone rider wants to do is try to come back too soon. A1 next year is probably best case. He will probably race 250 east in 2024 to allow more time to recover and rebuild strength in that leg.

Instagram posts have been weird. For example, this Forkner update I have no trouble seeing.

However the Enticknap retirement posts appears as the following on both mobile (Android) and desktop:

When I click play the bottom half stays as a picture:

If i was his family or friend, i'd reach out to Trey, he knows how to deal with this type of adversity.
