I'm pretty sure he needs to listen to the universe tell him he shouldn't be riding a bike anymore. Canard finally listed after his 2nd femur break... Sometimes things happen for a reason.

Forkner is blazing fast but whatever he is doing isn't working. This is year 5 with an injury. He needs to change everything.

Pro Circuit is my favorite team but if I was him I would change trainer, riding coach, where I ride and team. I think he needs a fresh start.

Its so easy for people watching to tell someone what to do. If Forkner still loves riding his dirtbike he’ll keep riding.

I hate to see this for the kid and to everyone saying they would have done this or that.... you would have enough time to say OH SHi....... before you hit the ground.

Wasn't Canard's second femur break in 2011 during is rookie 450sx year?

Didn't Carnard race and retire toward the end of 2017?

Personally I would love to see the redemption arc of a winning but reckless Forkner turn it around and win a title out of consistency (Tim Ferry 1997 style no wins).

He has made mistakes sure but no one capable of winning is shutting off in the first 30 ft of a main event start and that's what he would have had to do to avoid this.

I don't hate forkner. I just can't support people who don't change.  In motocross it's obvious when man are not evolving. Barcia, jordon Smith, etc. Great...

In motocross it's obvious when man are not evolving. Barcia, jordon Smith, etc. Great athlete but never acknowledge their mistake and growth from there.

Man, you place everyone on a super strict standard.  I wonder if you apply this same standard to yourself? If so, how in the hell have you survived life?

Canard's broken femurs happened in 2011 - one in practice, the other right after he returned at Washougal. He had a rough 2015 season, famously crashing with Chad Reed and the very dramatic crash with Jake Weimer. He had a gnarly get-off in 2016 at Rutherford and broke his arm in Detroit that same year. It was after this that he retired in 2017.

I’m far from impressed by the way Pro Circuit is handling their communication. When Forkner almost died after his crash at the East-West shoot-out in Salt Lake. And I’m not exaggerating because they needed to remove his spleen, and even worse cut a piece of his pancreas (and that surgery is very delicate). They came with: “six to eight weeks with multiple abdominal injuries”. This time they don’t act, maybe they are in the waiting game, but you’ve social media to tell people you are waiting for a real conclusion. We are three days after the crash and we know nothing at all! Bye the way: Pro Circuit really needs to regain some of the old glory. Now they pick up good to great amateurs like Adam Cianciarulo, Austin Forkner, Garrett Marchbanks, … and it doesn’t click.

Anyone that talks shit about a racer that crashes/gets injured is an absolute loser. Talk about emotional key board warriors the kid lives for this sport and has another devastating injury and there’s people on here debating whether they like him or not and what he “should’ve” done lol pretty ridiculous

Perhaps you’ve never heard of a corporation called Monster Energy.  The big dogs are calling the shots with PR, and they’re not rookies.

I like how Forkner took responsibility for the crash and didn't point fingers.  Heal up soon.

tibial plateau fracture is my guess, or has it already been stated what the damage is?

Feel pretty bad for Forkner after seeing that message. I hope he comes back strong.

Knew it was the knee and that damage is pretty significant. I'm going through my own ACL recovery after having surgery in late October and let me just say... 6 months is the bare minimum and a super risky time frame to return to full activity. Doesn't matter if you're an elite athlete, you can't speed up the healing process. People come back at that stage usually because it's crucial to their career. They "feel good", but the reality is the new ligament is maybe only half of its normal strength at that point.

With all that other damage, I'm hoping he doesn't get on a bike for at least 9 months and just focuses on the rehab and getting strong. Come back A1 2024.

Till he crashes out for the season.

Wonder what he will choose for a 3 digit number

I have had both knees done, 6 months for regular guy stuff..I rode some at 6 months but did not feel like it was ready. IMO it’s almost a full year and that’s with constant rehab & stretching routine’s. My last ACL surgery was 5 years ago, the Medical benefits only paid for a certain amount of rehab visits, I was no where near ready to be athletic. I went to a sports rehab specialist and paid out of pocket for 2 more months of supervised rehab. I”m not a fanboy of any particular rider at this point but, I”m pulling for this dude to overcome his adversity’s

Video is very well done and hard to watch. People who hate on the guy are disgusting. He doesnt have to get his ACL fixed, he could rehab and build up the muscle around, come back sooner, and then fix later in life. Probably not ideal, but an option. I tore my ACL and never got it fixed and still ride. Took a bit for me to trust it was stable, but the Mobius knee brace helps alot. There are even some detailed studies out there that talk about fix vs not fix.  Hopefully he can keep his head up and people around him stay positive, you can tell he is down in the dumps right now.

Willis McGahee blew his knee out like that on national tv and was running months after. I tore an acl a couple weeks before him and was still crutching when I saw him doing that on ESPN. He was worth millions to a future NFL team, me... not so much. Its not over for Austin, but this isnt going to be a quick one

Im a big ncaa football fan (Roll Tide) and i remember that shot to the knee that boy took. That shit hurt me to look at it!

That hit on mcgahee and the tib/fib dangling of tyrone prothro (big time bama receiver/special teams guy) in the endzone have to be two of the worst " oh fuck" as you cringe and turn to keep from seeing again.

Prothro's career ended that day. Oh my, what he could have been.

Villipoto came back extremely early from an acl repair also once and won the supercross again.  It had to be around 12-13. I remember because i had just had mine done and he posted a video walking out the office under his own power.i wasnt even thinking about it on day 1

Do you think he still loves riding his dirtbike?  Would any of us love it if we had ridden as much him, for as long as he has, and been hurt on it this many times?  I'd guess he may love the lifestyle and racing but riding is probably a chore at this point. Especially when it brings injuries.  But what other career path pays as well for him at this point?

Even if he doesn't get his ACL repaired his uncomplicated non displaced Tibial plateau fracture is a 4 month deal in order to heal strong enough. So without the ACL repair it's still 4 months, With an ACL repair, I would think he's pretty much done for the season, maybe he can start riding towards the end of the season

Okay guys be real.

Search "Austin Forkner injury (insert year)" ever since 2017 the kid has had an injury. Literally no one was surprised at all this time around. He didn't even make it to the first turn..

Do I feel bad for him? Of course. I don't wish anyone to crash and get injured. But I'm a realist and look at his track record:

Austin Forkner Injury record

Apr 6th,2017 Hip injury during team practice. Out for Seattle SX.

July 21, 2017 Severe Concussion in practice at Southwick. Out for remainder of Season.

Nov 15, 2017 Practice crash in Oklahoma. Broken wrist and collarbone. Out until 2018 East Coast SX.

Apr 15, 2018 Crash in Main Event #3 at Minneapolis. Broken right collarbone. Out for remainder of SX.

Apr 6, 2019 Qualifying practice crash in whoops @ Nashville. Torn MCL/ACL/Meniscus. Raced E. Rutherford round in pain. Undergoes Surgery. Out for Last SX Round and all of 2019 Motocross Season.

Jun 21, 2020 Crash in Main Event at Final SX round. Internal injuries. Out for 2020 Motocross Season.

Jan 23, 2021 Crash at Rd 3 Houston SX Qualifying session. Broken wrist. Out for remainder of 2021 SX Season.
