Will There Be Any 250F’s Getting Overhauled In 2024?

I want to preface this thread with I am getting back into motocross and will be buying a brand new bike for the first time in my life. I can’t emphasize enough how excited I am to start riding again and I’m very happy to be in a position to make this happen. I know my limits on a bike and I feel the 250f will be the best option for me.

Outside of the KTM, Husky, and the small changes Kawasaki made, most of the bikes didn’t receive any changes for 23. Before investing into a new bike, I am curious to see if any manufactures are rumored to be making major changes to their 250f’s for 2024. I am torn on waiting for the 24 models or getting a 23 model. Any info is greatly appreciated 👍🏻

Look into GasGas MC250F for 24 or 23 factory edition MC250F

Just a guess here. But Yamaha totally revised the YZ450 for 23. So assuming the 250F will follow suit in 2024?  Someone with more information, ML, may have more info.

Yea I’d bet the yz250f is all new next year. That might be the only ‘new’ bike next year.  unless Suzuki does something and shocks the world or triumph but I don’t think there bike is due until 25.

Triumph has said they will be racing in 2024 in the 250 class so i would hope they have a bike .

Maybe consider a new fuel injected ‘23 KTM 250sx or TC250 instead of a 250F?

They'll have 250's available at the dealers since their bike needs to be homologated in order to be able to race.

Triumph, Yamaha and Gas Gas for sure.

Maybe Beta? They're releasing the 450 but i don't know if they plan on selling a MX 250F.

I wouldn’t wait around for the triumph. If you want a bike soon I’d get the Kawi or Yamaha. Good suspension, reliable and easy to set up.

I wouldn’t touch that bike for 5 years unless I was paid to ride it.

Are you sure about that? I thought the reason Yamaha got to race the works YZ400 in SX with Doug Henry way back in the day was that the AMA allows each manufacturer 1 year to break the homologation rules and run a works bike for R&D purposes.  Maybe that has changed in the past 20 something years, though.

I think we will see an updated YZ250F inline with 450 changes.  KTM will get bug fixes and GG will get hand me downs.  I doubt Honda will make any changes.  Some don’t like current Honda forks but I’m a big guy and actually like the forks on my 23 250R.  I doubt yellow bikes change.  If I was a Suzuki fanboy I’d be reading their annual report.   In some cases if you read between the lines of an annual report will tell you what they plan to do.  Company I worked for had us corp sales guys trained on how to read annual reports to determine which customer would spend.

Yup you are correct but I believe that rule is no longer and has been for some time.

I agree. The "late models" at this time have less chance of failure as the kinks have been worked out. An on-sale electric start kx250 would be a great starter bike at generally a cheaper price. Although you can see I'm a bit biased towards the Kawi, what they offer now at the price seems like the best deal to me.

Honda 250 should have a mid gen update for 24’ just like the 450 received for 23’ as they are a year behind.

It was a thing back in the day, but they abolished that rule.

Just need to make 400 units and write a big fat check to the AMA and you're good.

New 250s for 2024 model year will be the YZ250F (similar to the 450 changes we've seen for 2023) and Triumph's 250.

GasGas will be updated, what you see from their factory edition 2023 models, same updates that KTM and Husky received for their standard 2023 models.

KTM and Husky updated in 2023...maybe small suspension or mapping tweaks for 2024?

Honda might see a mid-generation refresh with suspension or chassis updates, maybe little engine change.

KX250 just got a big update for 2023 model, so I wouldn't expect much there.

No go on RM-Z250 updates for 2024.

What about the KX450? Anyone know if it will be changing? Would love to try a KX but don't want to buy a 23 if the 24 is all new.

If they follow their traditional update cycle the kx450 will be new.

KX450 will be all-new.  Pre-production version raced in Japan last year.

I dunno about that. When the Cannondale MX bike came out they were competitive right off the showroom floor in their first year. The only thing you really had to do was maybe get the suspension depending on your weight and riding ability. Their biggest downfall was the marketing, parts availability, and some low key threats from other manufacturers overseas. There was a pretty interesting article about it back in the day in I wanna say Motocross Action?🤔

As a potential new buyer, I’m not going to lie, it’s really hard to choose which route to go. I think it’s awesome that each brand is producing a great offering. I am really intrigued about the new Yamaha and Triumph.

Is this serious?  The cannondale was one of the most unreliable bikes ever produced. It hardly finished any races it started.
