Honda has Sexton and Nichols in 450. Of course they want Jett to stay back and spank some ass in the 250's one more time. It's a no brainer.

They probably already have the win bonus checks signed LOL.

If Jett races East Rounds on a 450 can I expect everyone to be very concerned about him only being 19 on that death trap?

Part of it is probably the workload of full time 450. He’s still young, and the pressure/physical capabilities to perform for all the rounds of supercross and outdoors is a lot. Plus he will be expected to win everytime he lines up, from fans and from himself. Select 450 rounds gives him a chance to get his feet wet, see the pace, the way the track breaks down before he is in it full time. We saw Jett crash his brains out on a 250 trying to hold onto the lead, and the huge crashes Chase has had because he expectation every time he lines up. They have to be smart about his 450 career. He will do well, and it will be damn exciting.

Maybe Honda wants Chase to get a SX 450 title.

Both RV and rc went full-time 450 at 20. And 3 seasons.

Jett will be going full-time 450 at 19 and 3.5 seasons.

Also if jett wins this sx season he will be the only rider ever to win 4 125/250 championships in a row

Ricky won 4 in a row, 97 mx, 98 sx, 98 mx, 99 mx. He moved up to 250s for 99 sx, so he won the last 4 125 titles he competed in in a row.

Ricky didn't race the 99 sx season. So he missed that championship.

He may have won his last 4 125 championships he competed in. But he didn't win the 4 championships in a row.

Just like if Jeffery herlings wins the 23 mxgp. He isn't winning 2 in a row or back to back just coz he missed the season. But he will be winning the last 2 championships in a row that he competed in.

How come RC scored points in the 125 SX class on both coasts in 1997?

10 points in the West for 27th overall and 123 points in the East for 3rd overall.

What's the story?

I think he raced LA as a warmup but let everyone go on the gate? Back then you could pull out of the coasts I think and still race the other one.

I want to say it was mentioned on his whiskey throttle appearance…

Any idea when the rule changed and if he's the only guy to do that?

I just checked. He finished 11th overall at the Los Angeles 2 round, then switched coasts.

I am sure Nichols would've liked to have that mulligan rule in place this year.

I wonder why it changed.

I think it’s changed a couple times. Remember Hanny racing west in 04, then switching to east and winning Indy? But there was something weird where he didn’t earn points in east standings or along those lines

"No need to rush him into the 450 class"  ..... John Tomac.  Worked out pretty good for Eli.

Jett needs to polish up his SX craft before venturing into the deep end of the pool.  He should go 6-0 in 250 Lites, then come out swinging in 450 Outdoors.

Would you hair-splitters prefer the term cherry picking?

He should be on a 450, end of story

You don’t know what cherry picking means either. It’s not about splitting hairs, it’s about knowing the language. You know, language, that thing we’re all typing.

Last year was a waste of seeing Jett in "regional" (LMAO) 250 SX..... this year.... I won't even bother to watch whatever coast he races... the championship on that coast is over before it even starts....

Unless... they let Justin Cooper race against him... Now I'd watch that..! But Cooper would still get crushed... if you aren't using the new style as well as Jett or Chase.... you've got zero chance of beating Jett....

Whut?!?

Fun fact, Jett will still only be a 2-time champ even if he wins west coast ‘23

You seriously think he could beat Tomac, Roczen, Anderson, Ferrandis, et.al week in and week out, enough times to win a title  against those experienced heavy-hitters?  Lol!  He  has been a bit squirrley at times in the 250 class. He needs more experience to iron out those "bad" moments, before he goes wide-open in an unforgiving SX environment. The trajectory he's on is perfect.

What makes you think he couldn’t beat those guys? Chase couldn’t beat him at Red Bud.

EVEN if he didn’t consistently beat them, he would consistently be in the mix at the sharp end- would that be considered a failure?

if Jett went 450 SX right now, we all know he could quite capably finish top 6 consistently. That is championship challenging form.

You can't count the MxDN. It's a team race and Chase was riding a smart race to make sure his team won. If you really think the version of Chase from the Nationals couldn't beat, let alone, smoke Jett you're delusional. At Red Bud only one of them had something to lose and he made sure his team won. Jett is going to be a threat eventually, but people need to pull the reigns back on his MxDN ride being an indication of how he will be on a 450. I was hoping to get a better idea of how he would look on a 450 at Paris. But some how someone at Honda, his agent, or family didn't realize that the uber popular young prodigy would need to get a visa to travel to Paris for the race until a week before? Uh huh sure. That says alot of how confident he was on the 450 or he is working with some pretty stupid people. 🙄

He wins multiple races in 450s if he lines up. Guess he’ll learn more working over Hampshire for 6 races?

You cant talk negative about Jett here

I don't see why anyone would. Perfect technique, super fast, and no cool guy attitude, I'm a fan.

So if Eli Tomac dropped down to 250 class for A1 and 2023 season everyone would be fine with that right. Can’t sandbag the pro class.
Jetts won 250 superclass last two years.  Seems time to move up.

Rc even said he should’ve stayed down 1 more year. Long game is a good game.

Hrmm, I’m fairly certain RC’s first SX premier class effort was 1999. It took him 2 years before making it work against McGrath in 2001.

Pretty wild take.

He would have a tougher time beating Jett, on a 250 than he would of beating webb, Anderson, Sexton, Craig, Nichols, musquin, Stewart etc?

keep in mind the consistency and experience. Also 7 rounds vs 17 or whatever.

not buying it for a second personally.

Notwithstanding Lawrence, Jeremy Martin is the rider whose trajectory I can’t seem to get my mind around. Are we to assume he’ll never move to the 450 at this point?

If Jett races East Rounds on a 450 can I expect everyone to be very concerned about him only being 19 on that death trap?

He doesn't have to win every round its a 17rd series. He would have to win majority of the races in the 250's, unless Jett crashes out of a race . He just has to coast top 3 in the 450's and not crash out or make stupid mistakes. I'm no Tomac fanboy, but there is no one at the moment in that class that is faster then him.
