Peters is on another level. But there were some good battles in the pack. I'm a fan.
Pit Row
Over 35 pros hasn't been seen in awhile.
Live coverage was sweet.
The track created separation between the fast guys and the not as fast guys and was fun to watch.
There were real "names" there.
I was worried about the amount of racing with only 1 pro class, but because the rider count worked, the number of heats/semis/LCQ plus two mains made it work.
The timing/show flow/race lengths seemed really good.
There still is a big gap between the experience of the top guys versus the last place guys so it creates a lot of lapped traffic (normal for AX to have quite a bit anyways, but magnifies it). I wonder if a couple less guys in the main might have to happen at least until the series grows to have the last place guys even faster. (This is not a knock on the last place guy, they just aren't on the level of a podium contender in SX yet.)
The broadcast was flawless and while GL and Budman were both a bit rusty and not familiar with the names yet, it'll get better and was passable already. Live AX on Friday nights is sweet. Even come January, live AX on Friday, SX on Saturday... count me in!
The challenge will be to keep the depth of talent each week and find someone who can make things somewhat interesting with Peters for the title. But if this keeps up, I can already tell it'll grow into year 2.
Clark, Natzke, Yoder, Linville, Braswell in the mix sure made it exciting, let's how they decide to at least stay with it until east SX starts.
