Thinking about buying this 2003 CRF450 from my father in law and doing a complete rebuild/refresh. Bike is in great condition for its age and runs very well so I know it’s a solid base. Is anyone starting to restore these early 450’s now that they are nearing vintage status?

Started this build in October of 2024, and finished it in may of 2026. I’ve spent months finding the real parts from the team and honestly pretty proud of how far I got. Theres a couple missing pieces I’d like to have but this is as close as you can get to the real deal in 2026! (Used these pegs because it’ll be on display, don’t need anything sharp!) Parts list of real parts: Nicks Weys used 2001 seat, Last ever brand new factory Yamaha clutch perch, Gytr billet factory Yamaha levers, DSP carbon all around including a Jeremy McGrath...

Not to waste too much time babbling, but I've always had the itch to restore a dirtbike. Finally got to scratch the itch. I originally wanted something different like an old YZ400 or 426. I have a soft spot for the old 5 valve steel frame 4 strokes even though I'm a 2 stroke guy. I worked with a kid over the summer who had this WR450 that blew up. FarleyMX25 Started a new thread Long term efi bike storage
11/16/2025 6:24am What is everyone’s take on long term efi bike storage? Lets say 1 yr plus that you don’t start up. Would putting some two stroke oil or atf down the fuel line and getting it into the injector be a good option? Looking for all takes in this.

Project “Ballin-on-a-Budget” 2022 KTM SXF350 Just wanted to share and show off this passion project of mine. Been wanting a new bike but didn’t want to buy a 23+ as I really like the 19-22 chassis. So I decided to make her new again. Engine: Full rebuild with OEM piston kit, ProX conrod and minor clean up head porting. Vapor blasted cases, cylinder, head. Engine had 142 hours on it and had been untouched internally. I’ve been amazed of the robustness and durability of these Austrian bikes. I’ve been running these 350 and 450’s to 150 hours without any issues...

Frame is back from my powdercoater, think he nailed it. Today I ordered some parts for the bottom end. New wossner crank, pro x main bearings, cometic gasket kit and transmission bearing kit. After that gonna vapor blast the cases. So it's slowly coming together.

Put in some more time on the triple clamps, buffing the casting lines smooth: Got the lower to a point that I was finally happy with for blasting. Before: The bolts are completely reusable, and look fresh after a quick blast (left). After blast: Ready for install. Next up was installing the fresh steering stem races. I had to get a little creative to get a level driving angle: I bought this kit off Amazon for $27, and it was on my doorstep in something like 4 or 5 hours. Insane world we live in boys. Ziploc'd the greased races...

Recent marketplace purchase the 96 is becoming extremely hard to come by in Australia and when they do they’ve already been restored. Besides the bike being all spray painted it’s actually in great condition the frame rails are perfect swing arm no marks no damage to engine cases this will be a long term project.
