Thanks man. I did read that. Mine seems to be something different. It seems like the metal dust caps are pushing the inner sleeve back and forth causing the side to side movement. I'll see if I can figure out how to upload a video that shows the play.

That Looks normal to me, just to be clear: the bearing sleeve inside the bearing has side to side movement correct? The bearing should be tight inside the knuckle , once shock is installed into the linkage, the movement should be minimal…

I paid 12k OTD for my Honda in January... And that was a "deal". Every other shop wanted 14+.

I know the market isn't the same as it was 10 months ago, but I still don't see 12k as all that outlandish, especially for this model.

Yea i hear ya man! I should have said as well that I wasnt paying sales tax for the $12k cuz im a out of state buyer, so in that case a resident of the state would pay even more. I also called a big dealer in conn. yesterday who had a bunch of 300sx coming. They were charging msrp, a doc fee and a surcharge... would have been otd for a little more than $10k. The salesman Offered to put me on the list and emphasized they werent up charging these bikes.

I really wish someone would post current ride/reviews for the 300sx. Im on the fence of trying one or finally trying a 350sxf, but I just dont know what direction to go in until I hear some reviews. Im a 4 stroke guy at heart, but i had a lot of fun on my 15 250sx which always made me curious as to how these new generation 250sx/300sx feel. I did spend some time trying to slow down my 250sx and it sounds like this 300 might not be so abrupt.

What do you wanna know? I posted up my impressions numerous pages back, I have about 4hrs on mine now and no complains. Runs great!
I would like to hear thoughts from the guys that own both the 300sx and 350sx as to which they prefer and why. Im sure one of the test sites will eventually do a video comparison of the 2 bikes.

Im probably going to pull the trigger shortly on a low hour 2022 350sxf and ride that along with my yz450 next season. Then figure out which of the 2 I will keep. If im not happy with the 350 next season, I will try the 300sx. Plus by then people will have these bikes dialed in and the bugs worked out for the 2024's.

Maybe 2, I am going to play around with some gearing but currently I find alot of times where I think I need to be in 3rd sooner. I dont think I can stretch 2nd, I have a SX track and I notice it alot and every track I have rode I feel like it needs 1-2 teeth in the rear. I have a 13 front laying around that I am going to try, I suspect it will be too much but I have it so why not.

I haven’t ridden my SX yet, but the 14/49 gearing works great on the XC in the technical terrain I ride. I feel no reason to change it, the motor will pull 3rd all day long on the steep climbs.

That’s the midvalve assembly for a set of cone valve forks. 👀

Would make damn sure both forks are actually intact before install and ride.

Thanks for the reply’s, so should I assume that race tech removes the cone valves and uses their gold valves?

I have ridden with them, I swapped them onto my 2021 300sx last weekend to try them out against my set of the last generation cone valves. (Also set up by race tech, but trackside at mammoth in 2017 and they didn’t hand me any parts after) They were not as plush as my older ones and were definitely too soft.

Yeah, they do that. It’s what they know… not everyone can get the cone valve assembly working good, so they go with what they know. Nothing against Race Tech, but they aren’t the only ones swapping to shim stacks.

Thanks, I’ll play with some clickers this weekend and see where I can get them. It’s not like they were bad, it more like my last set was incredible, they were super plush but I could send it to flat or charge a gnarly section and never question if they would hold up.

Update on my buddies 300sx:

Loves the chassis and suspension, but after 2nd ride bike has been back at the dealer. It’s got either an electrical or fuel delivery issue. Around like 7000rpm range it starts running like spark is being cut out. It almost bit him on a couple jumps so dealer is trying to figure it out.

Nothing is coming back as an issue, everything tested is good and working as it should. Issue was replicated on dyno and isn’t the “rev limiter”. KTM doesn’t have a bulletin on it but the dealer sold 2 300sx’s and both are back for the same reason

Sounds like what our 125 is doing. KTM is telling us it's the TPS. It's not throwing a code or anything. It's for sure not just bouncing off the rev limiter either/ I sent them a video of my son doing a start and you could hear it really good. Right as the revs came to a certain point it just started cutting out.

KTM first confirmed that i had taught the power valve using the provided plug. Then said he's almost positive its the TPS. Taking it to dealer tomorrow so will confirm if it solves it.
I have ridden a 23 husky 125 and it also did the same , anytime you were hard on the gas , jump , and Let off the throttle it has a bog / large hesitation . Changing the map did assist and help slightly. But it seems like a tuning / ecu issue . bottom end and mid range on it was pretty impressive tho. Extremely good response , and recovery time on the low end.

Anyone ride the 250 vs the 300 back to back yet?
I’m keen to get one, but on the fence which would suit me better for mainly moto.

I rode the 250xc and 300xc back to back. The 250 is a lot more manageable and feels like a 250 two stroke. It carries momentum well and revs out a little farther. In the green mode, the 300 is a brute compared to the 250. I rode the 300xc on a MX track and it felt like it revved pretty well. I did notice second gear running out pretty quick in the white mode but in green, it carried a lot farther. The best way I can describe it is the 250 revs higher/freer but the 300 makes more power to redline.

I picked up a 23 300 SX last week the day before a move to a different state. Long story short havent had time to hit the track yet but have taking it into some trails and a field or two and imo it has a really wide power spread and in the green map it doesnt fall flat on top. Motor is impressive to say the least. Pending weather will hit the track this weekend or for sure next week.

They have three at Motorcycle Mall In NJ. I called and they want MSRP plus $1695 freight and $1395 setup and some other bullshit fees to the tune of $12500 before tax. I laughed at him and said I was all set. My local dealer is getting there second shipment in December. They quoted me MSRP. No extra fees. I was gonna try and see if I could get one and ride it once or twice before it snows but it ain’t worth a couple grand. I’ll just stare at it while I drink a couple grand worth of beer this winter.

Thanks man. I did read that. Mine seems to be something different. It seems like the metal dust caps are pushing the inner sleeve back and forth causing the side to side movement. I'll see if I can figure out how to upload a video that shows the play.

Here is a video with the shock installed. Shock seems to be pushing the caps and sleeve back and forth. Just seems like excessive side to side play. This is on a stand with no weight on the rear wheel.

My 23 300 is the same, my 22 350 with 50hrs is the same… I reapply a bit of thread lock on shock bolts & keep eye all on linkage, shock, subframe bolts for first few hrs of operation… I think it’s meant to have some play within the assembly..

Got to see the first 300sx at the local track today. Was really nice but definitely not a screaming type two stroke.

Hell yeah, thanks Sandman. Now I'll quit stinking up this thread with my paranoia.

Also...I was hoping you were exaggerating about installing that powerparts skid plate. What a piece of shit design! I'm not taking that thing off, ever.

Finally picked it up today, $10,800 otd in Ca. Very excited for tomorrow. It’s a lot quieter than my 21 300.
