I was an Alpinestars Tech 10 guy forever unit I got a pair of SG-12s. Not only are they super comfy and supportive, but the soles last forever. Best boots I’ve ever owned.

I just picked up a pair of the Leatt 5.5 boots and I'm pretty happy with them so far. I've only been in them a few hours, so I can't speak on longevity, but they are very supportive and comfortable.

Forma Terrain Tx. Built like Gaerne, dual hinge and I paid $375 Australian for them. Before those I wore Alpinestars Tech 5 and those things would be lucky to last 1 season and they just never felt very protective. The Forma's encase your foot in hard plastic, are pretty much water proof and the sole lasts ages. I've got around 50 hours of moto riding on mine and they are still in great shape

In the past 9 years I have had Fox Instinct, Tech 10’s, and SG 12’s. To me, the SG-12’s are hands down the best fit for me. If you have a shop that you can try them on in I would highly recommend going that route. Sidi boots are really narrow so they were never an option for me. The others I mentioned have all been decent, I just prefer the comfort and support from the SG-12’s. If I had one complaint with them it is the steel toe cap but that is super minimum.

I'll throw in a vote for Tech 7's. 3 seasons of use and over 100hrs, no complaints or issues. Good value for less than $400. Would buy another pair.

I am telling you, DO NOT skimp on boots
You do not want broken feet/ankles, pay the 4-500

Not really about honesty. More about design, material spec'ing, build quality, protection level, and durability. Most people have not tried enough boots to really consider those things. Also, most people just like soft cushy boots.

SG-12s are the best boots IMO

Depends on what you evaluation factors are. My factors would be comfort, reliability, and safety. Out of the boots I’ve tried sg12 is the best for those overall. If I was a pro rider and got free stuff I’d ride tech 10s. They are more comfortable to me, they just don’t hold up at all:

Genuine ostrich boots from Zapateria la Ballerina. You really can’t beat ‘em..
(..well, you can - but not at their prices really)

Tech10 or Fox Instinct(For the first 10-15 days) then they start getting too soft.

Sidi Crossfire SRS 2.

I always felt like motocross boots were stiff as a board and clunky with how wide they typically are in the toe area. Sidi boots feel like you're wearing a normal shoe. Best boot I've owned bar none.

Sg12 for me overall, but I also loved my tcx evo's on every level except how hot they would get. Terrible ventilation for me.
If you're just back into it, and aren't exactly sure what you want, I would go the used boot route. The two sites I have listed below usually have pretty good deals on quality boots, that are barely used

From my experience, you won’t get five years out of the current Tech 10’s.

SG-10s I had lasted so long, yet the soles had barely any wear. I only replaced them because the rest of the boot started separating from the sole after almost 10 years. I replaced them with SG-12s without hesitation and they've been just as great.

Sidi SRS Crossfire 3. 415$ shipped to your door from FC moto. I disagree with Sidi boots running narrow, I feel they are middle of the road on width fitment, but YMMV. Soles are easy to replace as well.
