The roczen thing was a quad, I think the op is talking about the single table single in the other part of the track. Ralph even said once “Friese missed the quad out of the corner” or something like that

A quad has 3 potential landing spots and a take off Both of these jumps have 3 potential land spots and a take off

So say the last single isn’t there, If you cleared over the table would you be calling that a triple? Huh

I do not under stand the concept of how a single table single is a quad. The average supercross double is probably 15-20 feet peak to peak. A table is roughly 8-10 feet peak to peak. Average bike around 7 feet and a few inches in length. Jumping 4 singles takes a lot more balls then jumping the table, I’m not a rocket scientist or an engineer but it’s pretty simple. I’m sure there is an old thread on this. I know there was a quad they where jumping before the finish line at Cardiff but a single table single to me is not a quad.

I think your measurements are a little off. Just sayin

No, that would be single-table.

Feel free to complain to the guys who do the broadcast. I've heard every former pro color commentator call obstacles like that a quad for 20+ years. Considering I ain't the one doing the jump, I find it hard to argue the point. How about we bitch about driving on a parkway and parking on a driveway too.

^ Long before people started calling a tabletop and two singles a "triple," they were accurately calling it a triple jump. Remember, we are talking about jumps, not landing zones.

What Roczen was jumping was a legit quad = four jumps. You could have jumped off any one of them.

You cannot jump off the middle of a tabletop; there is no jump there.

People will be claiming landing on the downside of a table is doubling it.

You can and the pros literally do jump off of the middle of table tops…

All I know is if you're expecting me to say 'did you see that guy jump that single over a table and single' I'm probably gonna go ahead and keep calling it a quad

If you can’t jump off the middle of a tabletop, explain a ‘table to table’?

Look. Some moron decided to prove they cannot count.

2 mounds of dirt, double. 3 mounds of dirt, triple.

If I make a flat top on the middle of the triple, it's still a triple. 3 humps.

It's easy. End of story. I don't give a crap what you want to call 3 humps in a row, but a quad it is not.

It must be a triple it only says quad 3 times, ok Rophenia

McGrath explained it best. He said its a triple if you just count the mounds. BUT he said it becomes a quad depending if you can use that tabletop to jump on and off of. If its a rounded table where you can't jump off it, its just a large single since there's not more than 1 option to it.

As far as jumping over the table: We technically call it a Double-over. Meaning you are doubling OVER the first landing spot and landing on the 2nd. We don't call it a triple because people that make thread titles like this exist...

No, that is called "tripling over the table".

It's easy. 3 jumps, triple. 4 jumps, quad.

Anything else is just FUD.

Thread should have ended with ML's reply. I'll defer to the ones doing it.

That's literally what a tabletop is...a double filled in.

Well if that’s the case it could technically be a quad also. It’s just a quad with all the gaps all filled in. Quaded that b then! 😂

The pros hop off when they do step on/step off rhythms. Clearly there is no jump face there. We're talking about the obstacle, not a technique.

I would too, if they weren't wrong! Grinning Grinning Grinning Grinning

The ones who began doing it would call a single and a tabletop a "double," not a triple. I'm going to defer to the original definition.

/\ /------\ /\ For Instagram bitches its a "quad", but let's be real, all your moto buddies know thats a triple. Its number of peaks. It's not hard, it's not complicated,
so quit trying to glorify something to what it isn't. When did triples become lame and have to be called a quad?

No one has jumped a table top and referred to it as a double. Period. You can’t just insert it between two singles and now it’s a quad. It was never a double before. It can’t be a double now either.

a single, table, single, is a triple. There are three mounds. Three take off points.

Stop with the madness.

Two table tops is a double. There are two mounds. Two take off points.

The riders can call it whatever they want. 30 years ago this stuff was never called a quad. Ever.

That’s because jumping a table top is referred to as jumping a table top.

A single, table, single is a quad. There are 3 “mounds” of dirt but 4 take off points.

Two table tops jumped together is not a double, it’s a table-table.

Supercross tracks in 1992 didn’t have quads like they do today.

Jumping a quad with a table somewhere in the mix IS usually slightly shorter and maybe safer and easier than jumping 4 singles, but it’s still a quad.
