Absolutely disgusting, but you can't spot one trash can in that picture that isnt overflowing, and that hill was packed with people. Its gonna happen and you gotta expect that. Its all part of putting on an event.

WTF! I don't know if this makes me more disappointed as a human being or a motocross fan. We're so passionate about our sport and this is how we leave the track. I saw a video too where fans were setting porto johns on fire.

This is true. There needs to be double the amount of trash cans.

I noticed the term “Lot B” wasn’t used, and assumed they were cracking down on it this year… headed over there Saturday night to see for myself, and could hear the dull roar grow louder and louder as I crested the hill just past the pitbike track. It was definitely wilder and more aggressive this time.

Does anyone know, how did that big UHaul truck by the Lot B (lot 5 or whatever it’s called now) entrance look the next day? Saw the guy fall off the top, right after the RV parked next to them drove off with their slideouts still out.

That just sucks. They even had hired help walking around, picking up trash off the ground from that hillside during the event.

Reminds me of the people shooting the confetti cannons by the whoops… it looked cool, but as all of it was falling, I was thinking about the time I had to clean that shit up in my own yard. Not fun.

Cops kicked the U-Haul guy out. He drove it out of there Saturday night late. We were discussing how they could make him drive it out if he had been drinking. (I imagine he was drinking) Wonder if they had another cop just down the road to pull him over and do a sobriety check. That shit got WILD back there in lot 5!

I thought it would be cool to blow up an old igloo ice chest with Tannerite.

It was cool alright, up until the moment I walked up to the area and discovered the million little pieces of foam.

In hindsight, it was a terrible idea.

Think about what we look like to outsiders. Oh, man. Grinning Grinning Grinning Grinning

For all the "prestige" we claim with the MXoN, we're still just a bunch of muddy, bloody, drunken bastards who set things on fire, rev chainsaws, and party like it's 1999 at Burning Man. All this to celebrate noisy, polluting, terrain-destroying dirtsickles circulating in the mud. USA! USA! USA! USA!

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Cool

You go to Any event, and that's the way it is. Even at 'greenie' type things- some of the worst 'Trash City Bomb Sites' I've seen, have been the ones that cater to "those who profess to love nature".........

People just don't seem to give a damn. And, organizers either don't care enough to have enough garbage receptacles, and / or just choose to do a clean up after.

I was brought up to Never litter, and, now into my 7th decade, I've Never knowingly littered. I keep and carry every bloody thing, until I can put it into a trash can / bin, or take it home with me. It's Not bloody hard to do. Cripes, I spend much of my time on my local trails, getting off my bike, be it MC or MTB, and doing the old Emu Walk, and collecting trash. The (my fellow) MTBers, are just The worst for this. They leave so much trash on the trails - I'll do my first DH runs of the day, repeatedly stopping to clear the crap up, before I hook into it.

So many People are grubs, I've come to believe.

As for the theft, yes, it happens. Someone ( pretty much guarranteed to be an American, as taking back OS such a sign is not particulary easy) will have it on their wall, in their man cave. They didn't steal the pressure washer, at least.

In 1998 at the World MTB Championships at Monte-Sainte-Anne that I raced in , a young bloke ( a fellow Australian, I believe) died when he climbed a street light to get a Banner for the event, and fell to his death. It was on the main drag, and the banners were on Very High poles, with an arch / gantree that the banners hung from - it was a Long way to fall (head first, apparently) . Plenty of others had made off with them, but it ceased after that. Me, as I stayed an extra day and a half, before going to Montreal for the SX , then time in NYC, back to SoCal, then the 98 US SX Open in Sin City, I went back down the DH course to have a last squizz, and ended up helping the course marking take down and clean up crew. For my efforts ( it was a long day), they insisted I take several Ski Pole Flags, with the Event Markings, and as much Course tape as I wanted. Still have them up in my workshop, as does my local bike shop I gave some to. You pitch in, you get something back.

Well, me and my buddy were in the bleachers right at LaRocco's Leap. We had two chairs and an umbrella leaning against the bleachers right below us. Some douche stole the umbrella.

People suck.

But that race was awesome and it was worth the trip for sure.

As for trash left behind. Sad that it is "to be expected." Why cant people just pack out what they pack in. Not that hard.

Remindsw me of when I used to live in the mountains here in SoCal. Every time we got snow the flatlanders come up to play in the snow and leave coolers, broken sleds, clothes behind like it is no big deal. Sucks.

if my dad and i couldn't find a trash can we just put it in our cooler or backpack... by the first dropdown there was a set of bathrooms that people were just throwing trash in a big pile right behind it. pretty gross.

I hate to say it but in my experience mx fans are some of the worst people on earth.
Stopped going to sx for a long time for this reason. Too many scumbags.

It's been better the last 8 years or so.

Great idea to pack out what you pack in but what about when you buy food from a vendor?

If you don't have enough trash cans you need to expect to clean up trash. No need to wring our collective hands over it.

Slightly off topic but kind of on is if I'm in a public restroom and there is not a trash can by the door I throw the paper towel I used to open the door on the ground. Either put a can by the door or pick up my shit.

Ya, think about it. Truckload after truckload of food and drinks coming in and a handful of trash cans on site. Doesn't add up.

Running across (breaking) the tops of porto-johns, breaking down fences all over, attempting to tip over a U haul truck that people were standing on top of. Apparently a group of people were pepper sprayed in lot 5. I didn’t know MX has such terrible fans and I’ve been going to nationals for over 30 years. I didn’t camp at MXoN 2018. I’d imagine it was the same BS.

Completely different scene but the Mini-O's have trash cans at the end of every row in the pits and every 50 yards or so on the roads. Still can't keep up but they make a better effort.

One sure fire way to know if Red Bud is upset by the mess is if they have another MXdN. I refuse to get mad about something that doesn't make the people directly affected upset.

Hangtown this year had crews emptying barrels all day long. For the most part they stayed ahead of the mess. And their porta pottie lineups were great - 50 stations, cleaned regularly, multiple locations. 25,000 people will make a mess if you don't give them the tools to do the right thing.

We Drove past when heading out yesterday morning and about 75% of the campers were gone and the entire camping section was covered with trash. It looked a LOT worse than that picture shows.

Running across porta johns.... Haha I was standing in one pissing when 2 people ran across the top. Later that night the whole row had been pushed over and laying on their sides. Sun. morning they were all stood back up but I saw a handfull of people look in several of them and decide to walk away. I bet they were a mess. Speaking of pota johns, I also know that particular bank of them had no toilet paper in them on Sat. I saw many people open the doors, bend over to check for paper and after about 4 or 5 tries just give up and walk away. I felt bad for them but was also chuckling a little watching person after person do the same thing. It has to be hard to keep up with things like that with the amount of people that were there. I always carry a ziplock bag at events, camping, or on the trails with "sterilizing wipes", baby wipes and some folded up paper for just such occasions when nature calls and you cant just wait.

Seriously, over this weekend?
Just when you think people can't get any worse 🙄

I know it's a business, and it's a large group effort, but the guy accommodates the race and the fans, and that's how little respect some people show? Fucking lowlifes.

There is one thing i tried to always instill in my sons and now grandson. Before we leave we will pick up our pit area even if the trash there wasnt ours. Before we leave , pull out of your spot and check for trash and lost items before leaving. Everything i took into the even this weekend came out back in my backpack.
Its not hard to do and its embarrassing to look at. I thought we claimed to be examples for the rest of the world? Shit, not hardly. We aint teaching them right anymore..
Another thing that i found disrespectful during the opening ceromonies very few people around me even acknowledged the other countries. Sure france and the aussies (due to people knowing marv, dylan, jett, hunter) got some love but its okay and at least clap/acknowledge the other participants. I want the people from other countries to at least know we respect them and the sacrifices it took to come race in our country.
I plan to go to a foreign mxdn one day and id at least like to feel welcomed. I hope you guys that came over enjoyed yourselves..

What do you guys expect? The crowd sits there eating their food and drinking their beer while watching the pro's litter the track with tear offs over every jump!

Yeah it's crappy I can tell you we did not leave a shred of trash in the track area or in our pit area. It's just being a decent human and there are so many people that just aren't anymore.
