Dear god.. if it doesn’t happen this year, with this competition (or lack of), at this location, with Eli and Sexton..
It’s just never gonna happen for us 🤦‍♂️

I'm not sure I agree with the "lack of" competition.... because Jeffrey's not there? 1/2 dozen teams look very good to me.

Yeah, the Netherlands or Slovenia have rarely been the favorites even when Jeffrey and Tim were there. France has a solid team again this year and Australia has a capable team as well. I agree this is the best team the US has sent in a while but nothing is guaranteed.

And while the Netherlands are arguably not as strong without Herlings, it's still a very strong team. Slovenia isn't a top team, even with Tim... France, Australia, Spain, Italy, the Dutchies, and the US all have a shot at it.

It doesn't feel much different than 2018 to me though... I'd say Sexton feels stronger than Barcia did, but AP had a great year on the 250, probably besting Cooper this year. So anyone going in over confident is at risk of extreme disappointment.

Nothing's ever certain. It's why we run the races.

Good luck to all, and COME ON, USA!

That will be huge part of it, Tomac, Sexton and Cooper had pretty good starts in Nationals this year and hopefully it continues Sunday.

I hope Jeff Stanton gives the boys a good talkin to before the race. He knew how to win this thing, he had a take no prisoners attitude.

There is no "arguably" about it, Herlings without doubt makes Netherlands a contender. Coldenhoff, De Wolf and Vlandeeren are a good team, but they will all need to have the rides of their career to contend in 2022. They are podium contender.

France are also podium contenders. Their best team would have been Febvre, Vialle and Renaux. Ferrandis is not match fit and picking Benistant over Musquin would've given them a better shot. Lets be real, Marvin finished 7th overall at Pala. Many Americans were losing their mind that Cooper would be picked, yet rarely did he finish 7th overall in 2022.

The Lawrence's should be solid for Australia, but Evans is inconsistent. Podium contenders but I just can't see them getting close to the points tally of Team USA without some serious luck!

Team Spain have an outside shot of a podium if they are lucky. Prado is not himself but should bag solid points, Fernandez had a terrible end to MXGP so who knows how he performs and Farres should be good but they need more than good to compete with Team USA.

Team Italy have a semi retired 37 year old leading the team. We all saw how it went in the Nationals but his heart for Italy is incredible and that will lift him. Both Mattia and Adamo are the future and the now of Italy, but they are also young and inconsistent. It would be a big success if they could just podium.

Team GB have a solid team, despite their riders largely being on the down side of their career. Tommy Searle always performs at MXoN and he has been excellent domestically in 2022. Anstie should be fine (lets hope his bike is too) and Wilson will put in a 5-12. Dark horse for podium.

Team Belgium I see battling with Italy, Spain and GB for 5th-9th overall, maybe better with some luck. Geerts on the 450 will be interesting, Everts is extremely young and Horebeek is far from the rider he once was, but hopefully they can all pull through for us and have a solid race.

Team USA should walk this!

Team USA will have a real good chance unless it rains and the powers that be use the opportunity to turn it into Lommel so the Euros can win.

You wouldn't think that Tim Ritchie would fix it so the uS would lose.
