If only there was a way to do this

Overall I think the target areas are pretty much right on what they should be. Looks slimmer, probably better ergos, lighter (5lbs), new clutch is nice. I'm happy they didn't implement an electric steering damper as was rumored. Not a huge fan of the looks in some areas. The front number plate and fender is odd. I assume it's smaller as part of the effort to keep weight down but it looks weird. The shroud looks like the previous KTM, in a way. And I don't like the exhaust sticking out again. But overall, I think it seems like they hit the areas that people complained about, which is nice. They may have overhyped it to the point of thinking it was going to be something completely unexpected and wild, but in a way I'm glad that it wasn't.
front fender and number plate are very odd, agreed!

Any indication where the resorvoir is?

Like a TM, as opposed to a Honda XR
Looks to be a sight glass below the clutch cover.

I'm wondering if the 18-22 fender and number plate will fit

Lol ya I dunno. It might look weird with the current '22 fender and plate on it though. The '23 front fender sort of fits the "straight line" look that they have going. It's just something that really stands out as different from the current bike. I think the looks will eventually grow on me. But in general, I am really pleased with the changes. It really targeted all the areas that I think most customers were wanting.

Wheels and suspension will likely fit. Maybe triple clamps. I’d say no on the exhaust.

The oil tank is underneath the clutch and gear housing.
You can see the sight glass.

The clutch and gearbox presumably has a separate oil supply.

Can you please come back to the Deegan thread and tell us more about the time he raced a big bore PW at Loretta's?

I'd especially like to hear about it since according to the Vault....Deegan never raced a PW at Loretta's.....

Eager for next year, curious what they do to the 250. If they can bump up the rev limit some more and more power up there. It will be an easy purchase for me

I don't understand why people need more revs. And then they complain about durability...

If you watch more technical riders, none of them over-rev bike. Sexton, Craig, Lawrence brothers, Roczen, Gajser.. they all ride very smooth and don't over-rev bikes.

What I would like from next-gen YZ250F is same weight loss and ergonomics and maybe better mid to top with the same low-end feel.

So what do you guys think?
Everyone posted what they think. But what we really want to know is what you think. Sounds like it feels much lighter and nimbler?

Looks wise it’s an improvement. They weren’t too creative with the shroud design. Looks like previous ktm or older gen rmz. Looks like they targeted the right areas though.

And I think it would have the hydro clutch if Tomac wasn’t in the picture.

It’s really good. As an outspoken huge fan of the current bike, they did a great job of keeping all of the current positives and also improving many other areas without sacrificing the current good attributes. I was worried they would have “messed” up the bike if there were too many changes but they really only improved any weak spots and kept all the good stuff too. I was really impressed with that. The engine seems even a little better, and the suspension is still great like always. But the light weight feel is a big difference. I wouldn’t guessed it was more than 5 lbs because it feels even more than that. Also the front of the bike is very narrow now like the other bikes so if that was ever a concern of yours it won’t be now. The rider triangle is much better with better room between the foot peg and seat. And also the flatter seat allows you to stay up on the bike much better rather than always sliding into a “pocket” on the seat. That’s partially why I run the Guts tall seat on the current bike because it get rid of that pocket and let’s me stay on the front of the bike better. The new bike does that better now. And then the turning is much improved. With the weight reduction and the chassis changes the front end feel and turning is much better. Better planted and positive front end feel and turns much easier and better with sacrificing any high speed stability. Again overall I was impressed they didn’t lose any of the positive of the current bike and only improved all the areas of concern to most of us. The bike now is great. Just look at tomac. But the fact that he rode this bike and chose to sign again with Yamaha let’s you know how good it is. It was cool to be a part of that process too getting to test his bike and the new bike on SX and get it “set up” for him to test it before deciding to sign again. You’ll love it!

Disclaimer: this is all my personal feelings on the bike. But I bet you’ll agree with me haha. I try not to give too much technical info that I’m not an expert at. But I am an expert at the riding and what I feel when testing. So take my words for what they are. My opinion on riding the bike and how it felt for me! 👍🏼

Very nice. Sounds like the bike is amazing and Yamaha addressed all the complaints. There's absolutely nothing to complain about now. They narrowed it where needed, made it much lighter, improved rider triangle, and better front traction. And to top it off, they did a great job on the restyle. I was worried they were going to use the most recent two stroke styling for plastics but I'm glad they didn't as the 450 looks much much better
