As the thread title says it's Eli vs Ricky outdoors at let's say Red Bud on a nice day like we had a week ago. RC was able to hold Stewart at bay for the most part outdoors, how would he handle ET3 in beast mode?

There is no real answer...just our imagination. But, I'll bite. Eli is amazing... phenomenal in fact but Ricky ALWAYS found a way to go faster...to win. I'm not sure we ever saw RC's absolute limit. Yes, he was beaten occasionally but he found a way to get back on top. You askedWhistling

I think Tomac vs Villopoto vs Carmichael would be fun to see, but I have a feeling RC would win. That dang little leprochaun just refused to lose.

Would be legendary. Best part is whoever lost out of those three, you wouldn't here some BS excuse about bike setup or the sniffles.

Nobody was touching Tomac at Hangtown 2015. Tomac lately? I bet RC would find a way.

Agreed. Villopoto and Eli have more talent but Carmichael hates losing enough to make up any talent gap. Guy just twisted throttle harder and hung on.

I just couldn't bet against Ricky. Maybe at some point someone will come along and make me think different, but so far it hasn't happened. I think peak Eli could certainly have a shot at beating RC straight up in a single race but he would have next to no chance to win a title and beat RC over the duration of a series.

RC was 10 for 10 in outdoor championships with 3 undefeated seasons. I wouldn’t bet against him

it'd be close, for sure

in all honesty if they raced at their peak it'd probably be similar to when james challenged ricky

RC is the GOAT for a reason. He may have an occasional stumble trying to get the right word(s) out while commentating but he didn't earn any of those championships by talking. He straight up kicked ass and took names.

i agree wiht Olds cool. Tomac is great but Carmichael is the best ever....someone's going to have to take over the sport in a major way to displace RC

Eli would have his races and win some... But Ricky would be right there and win the others. With Tomac's hit and miss non beast mode rides that he still occasionally has, RC would put it away every time. RC was not only brutally fast, he was ALWAYS brutally fast. That's what makes him the GOAT.

Time will tell but that fast Aussie Jett has the makings. I think he has a 6th gear he hasn't clicked into yet.

RC>Tomac.

Carmichael has every strength Tomac does, plus the absolute, bilious, vile-spitting hatred of losing.

It's possible. He's definitely showing the signs. That jump from the 250 class to the 450's can be a real bitch. That will be the time when he either runs away from everyone for years or struggles like crazy

I think I heard or read that the brothers are faster and actually prefer the big bores...just checking off the boxes. It's gonna be fun to see.

Exactly right. I'd put Tomac ahead of them both in terms of sheer speed, and behind them both in mental toughness and that 'refuse to lose' quality. Would be a tough call as to whether RV or RC has more of that particular quality.

Yep as a tomac, and rc fan. Rc. Was the baddest mofo ever to race on a mx bike. Not even close.

Haha, 24 downs for a simple bench racing topic! I agree with the sentiment that RC almost never had an off day, especially once James hit the big bike class and Ricky kicked it up a couple notches to stay ahead of the FMOTP.

I like Eli and pull for him over anyone in modern day but he couldn’t lube Ricky’s chain.
