It is nice hearing the respect and understanding that Herlings has about racing Tomac. I would like to see that race, but I don’t think Tomac would push it to his limit and risk his SX season. One race for $100k versus 2 million plus for the SX championship don’t think it will happen. We can all dream.

Love the idea and the guests from Gypsy Tales but I want to hear what the guests have to say, not someone who hasn't been at that level, which is why GL, Ping, Emig etc can put in their stories and its relatable.
He talks about jujitsu in every single episode I’ve tried to listen to. Burned a couple brain cells along the way, not worth it. Way too farkin gnaaarly for me duuude.

I do believe tomac was the only one who could catch him and drop him. And the season is still early.

I think people respect Ferrandis as a champion, but don’t realize how damn good he was last year. Was a blast to watch.

If they did it at Red Bud I think they could get every bit of 50k fans to show up. Southwick may be 30k at most. Charge fans $50-$75 per ticket, VIP passes too. The riders get to keep 100% of their own merchandise sales. Tickets alone you are looking at 1.5 million to 3.5 million in revenue. You have to pay staff, tv crew, promoter, track. PPV another $20 a piece. I think there could be 300k-500k in purse to make it worth it for Eli and Herlings both.

This would be cool only if Herlings had to abide by our rules and run a normal frame and swing arm.
He did at Ironman

I don't even think Herlings is the King in MXGP, he is forgetting there is one active rider that has more big boy titles than him and is well on route to score another one. No hate on him, but that's the truth.

Gajser has to be the most underrated champion of all time in this sport. It's actually unreal how he is 25 years old on the road to collect his 5th world title and literally nobody talks about him, crazy.
Tim Gajser is the Ryan Dungey of MXGP.

Tomac will race the 2023 supercross and we wont see him again. This race wont happen unfortunately. Tomacs dad has already said this is the last time we will see Eli on MX. Dream away

Its so weird to me how Herlings is always so worried about ppl saying Tomac is faster than him. Hes brought this up many times over the years. From his position he must not realize that the VAST MAJORITY of ppl would say Herlings is a faster outdoor rider. I would think that being in Europe he would hear more people say he is faster, so maybe he thinks in the us more ppl say Tomac is? From my perspective thats not the case as most US fans also say Herlings is faster. Tomac literally never calls Herlings out either because he prob knows Jeffrey is faster too, which is why its so weird Herlings is always calling him out. Literally nobody is saying Tomac is faster including Tomac himself has never said it, so Im not sure why hes always talking about everybody saying whos faster.

I think hes missing the nuance that the only thing people are ever saying is that Tomac is faster at the combination of mx/sx. At pure outdoors I dont see really anybody ever make a good faith argument that Tomac is faster.

I am a fan of the motocrosser jeffery herlings and i think he is really the goat of the gps.....but according to me it is not an easy boy also ihis relationship with his father is strange i think...he never talks about him.....he also often says very stupid things in interviews...
I heard the podcast and at one point he says something in dutch about how he really thinks off this interview.😁😁😁. so herlings is realy a phenomenon on a bike but he should think a little more about what he says in thes kind of interviews😁😁😁😊😎

If I had to guess Tomac doesn’t give a second thought to any of this. He’s focused on MX right now, SX after and then riding off into the sunset with a hefty bank account and legend status. I’ve always dug ET just because he seems to be above the BS. Herlings is a beast in his own right but why even talk about Tomac? Seems a bit insecure to me.

so many people on here talking down on GyspyGang yet hes had how many great atheletes on the show? hes had some amazing conversations and for all us die hard fans.. gypsy isnt a motocore podcast.. Its mean to be for every day people who want to tune in. Youd be suprised how many non moto interested people tune into Gypsy podcast and listen to these moto episodes and have 0 knowledge of the sport but enjoy the conversation.
almost 100k youtube subscribers speaks volume on his contetnt.

Apart from one moto, Herlings has been faster than Tomac every time they have been on the same track:

Free Practice 2/2
Time Practice: 1/1
Timed Qualifying: 2/2
Warm Up: 2/2
Qualifying Race 2/2
Motos 5/6
Fastest laps: 7/8 (Qualifying race and Motos included)

Despite these stats, he is beatable. Would like to see more but the chances are slim unless Herlings can get healthy this year and (a) race a few Nationals (b) get ready for the MXdN, assuming Eli is selected and wants to race it.

A one off race needs a one off track.

Picture Henry’s hill dropping down into a tight 180 into a 3-3-2-3, some deeeep SX whoops, then into a long rutted out sweeping off camber. 3+ minute laps run 10 of them and we’ll figure out who’s the best.

I can't deny he seems to be able to attract all some great guests, but I don't watch him because of all the constant bro down BS...and from reading this thread and the JLaw one it looks like it hasn't changed.

While the fully sick bro stuff is tiresome, the main thing that turned me away was the f-bombing.
I'd be a hypocrite if I said I had a problem with swearing but for me there's a time and a place for it.

The last Gypsy Joker I watched was when he interviewed Jett Lawrence...who was 16 at the time...Gypsy had the f-bombs dialed up to 11 as if he was somehow trying to look cool or whatever the reason...so here he is swearing his head off in a supposed "professional" setting interviewing a 16 year old kid...of which Jett managed to swear a grand total of zero times.

I just can't help thinking it's a douchy way to conduct an interview.

Get off my lawn !!!!

There is no upside for Tomac. Does he need the $100K.......... NO! Herlings is the one that is insecure about his standing as FMOTP. I don't think Tomac cares. As has been said, he finishes the outdoor season, then SX in '23 and he fly's back to CO with a bag full of $$$ and moves on to what's next. It would be cool to see it but it's never going to happen.

Great idea to have Tomac vs Herlings on an MX track and a SX track but the truth is Herlings would have to ride SX for about five years to even have a hope of beating Eli on an SX track.

And the way things are now it is not really fair for Eli to challenge him on an MX track because Herlings has way more outdoor time over the last five years.

Although, on a somewhat fair track I think Eli wins the match anyway. For sure moto 2.

I mean... I see the point of his request on one hand, but no on is taking Reynard or Windham's career vs Ricky's...

A one day race means fuck all. Titles is what it's about.

I remember a time when gamblers races a local racks were not that uncommon. Gamblers races, Tomac, Herlings, Anderson, Gajser, rczen sexton, whoever, sounds like a good time. Double or nothing? ok line em up.

Not for anything but can't Herlings show up at Southwick? It's not like he is racing in the championship chase in GP's

Cool idea but would never happen. Eli isn't doing MX next year so that wouldn't work..Jeffrey is injured this year so that don't work. That I I don't think Tomac gives a f*** about bragging rights like Jeffrey does.

a mix of monster million and motofite club... why not?
or we could just keep on bitching why it can't be done and discuss what is inside other people's head, ifs and buts.

Herlings should of just come over here at some point in his career like Reed, Ferrandis and Roczen did and showed everybody who is Boss. Nothing was really stopping him. One phone call to Roger

No roost, no lappers, no one else on the track, is that motocross? Last I checked that was a part of the race. Not only the track elements but also the people elements. Do we eliminate fans and commentators too? Wtf is this? Dude wants to offer up $100k, both can piss on a $100k if they wanted to. Jeff’s analogy proves nothing other than on that day there was a faster human. If you have a hard on and want to prove it, come here to the states and lay your claim. I would say the same to El if he called little Jeff out. Go to the GPS and prove it. This is nothing more than a 9 year old that wants to see if they can piss further than a 12 year old at a urinal.

Because he's the next best guy after Herlings. He doesn't even crash less, Herlings it seems is just genetically prone to injury.

And honestly last year I think Febvre was better and so was Prado up until it started falling apart at Teutschenthal. I'm not trying to crap on Gajser here, I'm a big fan of his and he seems like a great person but he's in a unique situation where he's not the best guy but of the top guys he's the one that stays healthy the most.

Gonna get clowned on for this but the fact that a pretty significant amount of people think Gajser is better than Herlings shows he's overrated, not underrated, in my opinion.

Gajser did have that amazing ride at Orlyonok last year though, if we saw more of that I would be more agreeable to the claims he's underrated or better than Herlings etc.

Can anyone quote what Herlings said that caused an uproar? Context clues from this thread indicate that Herlings boasted about a 1-on-1 between him and Tomac and that Herlings would even put 100k (euros?) Up for the pot himself.

Meanwhile, Tomac is 20 races into his own racing season while Herlings does a YouTube interview.
