Weren’t they tied in points before High Point? They’ve both been super impressive.

They’ve both been impressive, but one of them won an MXGP, a handful of motos, and had a heck of a lot of podiums in the premier MX series last season. The other guy was 4+ years into retirement……

I don’t think that any of that reflects poorly on Cairoli, it just reinforces how crazy the things that Dungey is doing really are.

Yea, I'll walk back what I said, not much thought was put into it. I'm more stoked on Cairoli, but I'll agree Dungey has been more impressive.

Well I think that any rational person would/should agree that they are both all-time greats.

I also have a fairly strong feeling that they both have a huge amount of respect for what the other has accomplished, much more than any of us fans can actually imagine.

I am surprised he didnt have a youtube vlog documenting the whole AMA experience, if done right he would have had tons of additional sponsor money, not including what ever he could make from selling merch.

Not gonna lie, a bit disappointed in KTM over this.

There is a weekend off so plenty of time for him to go back home and rest up and show back up…maybe…..in a couple weeks.

Right now he is regarded by many as the goat. If he stays and does not dominate, will that get diluted?

Hopefully it’s just a quick trip home, since next weekend is an off weekend for the series. This would be the time for him to get home, see family, and still have a chance to get back and prepare for the next one.

Not in my mind. Anything that he does now is simply ‘bonus time’. He earned his legend status a long time ago, and the results he is having now do nothing to diminish the greatness he achieved in his prime.

Sort of like the Lebron vs Jordan debate, comparing what Lebron is doing now at close to the end of his career when he’s played over 10K more NBA minutes than Jordan did is silly. The comparison is/should be prime vs prime, and Cairoli’s prime earned him massive respect from anyone rational.

Tony: Give me the paddle.

Team: Tony, the track is really dry, hard and slick. Most of the straights and faces of jumps are like concrete and dusty.

Tony: I said give me the paddle.

*cue crash due to no traction and injuring his knee*
___________

What a disaster and disappointing last ride. Why did he insist on using that tire?

He was trying to put a move on Craig, made contact and went down.
If the tyre was so bad, how was he in that position and able to put the move on in the first place?

Besides all that, even if Tony wants a slick, give him the friggen slick. Just a guess, but he may, at this stage of his career, actually know what he’s doing…..

People are confused about that paddle tire..

You know his last GP win and even more GP wins are with a paddle tire on a hard pack track.

Last GP win of him at Arco they ripped the start deep and the rest was a rutty/slick hardpack track. He took the holeshot and won the GP later that day. More guys saw it and went for it like Seewer who also was able to holeshot and win there.

Tony went for the same move. Choose the paddle rip the start and get going from there. The reaction or the start straight wasn’t deep enough to get it done this time.

Well with Plessinger busting his leg in the dep rut after the finish line. I'm pretty sure he's out for the series. I'd say KTM has their wallet freed up to keep Cairoli around. Otherwise they only have Dungey, which isn't a bad thing, but the best rider on the team is the one whos about to go home to Italy.

I'll never have anything but praise for Tony but I remember most of the euro guys on here trashing RV when he failed over there and using him as proof that their guys were faster than ours.

Bahaha do you think 222 has no idea on tyre choice….

Maybe he should have put a poll on vital asking what tyre to use!

Tony's response had a decidedly "In negotiations" feel.
After all.. "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

He didn't want to put a poll up as it would get trolled due to being anonymous so he flipped a coin 👍
