Thanks, I appreciate that. Yeah, I’m totally stoked about the upcoming kid’s fair. I’m hoping to have a couple of big surprises for the patients at the Childrens Hospital.

Wow, pretty weird and a little disheartening that people in here downvote a charity event they probably know nothing about.

Glad to hear things turned out good for you the other night on your way to work. Thanks for all you do for those kids 👍

Is this at CHOC or Loma Linda?

Sure sounded like a text unless it was a PR move.

Steve's been doing this for the kids for years. This was no PR move, just a big Thank You for what he does for these kids. Both the OP and Bauer have down votes? WTF has this place become? Unsure

Linda University Children’s Hospital. I founded the event in 2003 and have done 12 of them, most of which Guy B attended and covered. The years we didn’t do the event were a result of bad flu seasons, hospital construction conflicts and COVID-19. We bring in jump ramps and the best FMX riders in the world, they put on a show on the front porch of the hospital, I also bring a group of SX, MX and extreme sport superstars and after the demo we split into two groups and visit every patient, handing out swag donated by generous industry sponsors that I gather throughout the year. No one is left out, we deck out patients, families and hospital staff. This next event will be off the hook on September 14, 2022.

Hell yeah Steve!! That's super rad that you still do this event. Give you a hundred thumbs up if I could.

The down vote people?? Seriously don't even understand what you're down voting here. Shane on you.

Cool stuff Bauer. Didn't know about this.

I wouldn't sweat the downvotes. As Ron Swanson would say: "The whole point of this country is if you want to be negative nancy and die a dickhead, you can! You are free to do so. To me, that’s beautiful."

I'm a day late; but, that ain't gonna stop me from saying it anyways!

"Happy Birthday, Dude!"

I hope your Fun Day/Kids Fair goes off like a Rock Concert (in the '70s!).

One of my favorite events. Here's a shot I took in 2015. Steve always puts on a great event. Too bad I live too far away now to attend.

This is the type of negativity that DC said is making him take a break from Vital. Just blind hate and senseless bad vibes. It's a shame.

It's not productive or enjoyable to post anything here now.

I bring up the word "Vital" with some guys and its like a dirty word to them.

This place used to be filled with moto fans and riders, now it's mostly haters...

Steve Bauer has been giving back to riders and sick kids way before most of you ever joined this place. To downvote a guy like that complete bullshit.

That photo is awesome! I swear I still get chills when those guys backflip over asphalt and I'm standing right there. By the way, Newport Beach isn't very far! Thanks for the kind words, everybody!

I don't live in Newport anymore. I moved to SLO County 2 years ago. I live down the street from Tyler Bereman's dad. So yeah, it is a bit far from Loma Linda

What am I missing here? Bauer got 22 thumbs up and 2 thumbs down. In what world is that considered "hate"?

I certainly appreciate what Steve has/is doing for these kids…much respect for his kindness and generosity.

On another note, many people still remember how abrasive and caustic Steve was back in the Mototalk days regarding his politics. Calling our US soldiers “Murderers’” during the Iraq war didn’t endear him to many on the forums. Some of those folks are members here at Vital, which may explain some of the down votes. Just a thought.

I guarantee I never called any of our soldiers murderers. I may have said that about the elected officials in our government, who sent our men and women down there to slaughter innocent civilians under a bogus pretense (WMDs). If so, was I wrong? Tell that to families of the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqi citizens, or the families of those veteran soldiers who are still haunted by it and committing suicide in record numbers.

Actually, you did refer to them as murderers. I remember it well as I had friends and family during that time serving in both Iraq and Afghanistan(one of whom was killed by an IED). It really struck a nerve with me at the time. In fact, so much so, I reached out to Don Maeda at the time to voice my concern as you were writing guest columns in either MxRacer or TWMX, I don't recall. I ended up cancelling my mag subscription. Oh well, water under the bridge now.

I have no doubt that this brings so much joy to those kids and as someone who has spent more time in a children’s hospital than anyone should ever have to I just want to say thank you. This is an incredible thing you’re doing. Thanks to you, the riders, and the sponsors. Please let me know how/if I can donate.

You sure it wasn't the other Steve B. (T.F.S.) going off on one of his anti-war rants back in the day?
