Update: Interview with the first four team owners here: https://www.vitalmx.com/features/Speaking-to-the-Owners-of-the-World-Su…

Well, four of the ten have just been announced.

I'm working on interviews with Genova and Pipes about their entries right now. Here's the press release:

I think most shocking for me is PMG considering they are backed by Suzuki japan (although that’s probably very small backing)
I’m hoping these are just the first 4 teams and not the biggest 4 they’re announcing… we shall see

I have no idea if it is enough but a $10m pot annually to assist teams with logistics costs seems pretty substantial - Does Youthstream assist teams in a similar way??? Either way I hope this gives us fans more races and gives more riders a chance to make a living in this game.

I can account for at least one more Yamaha and one more Honda team that'll join the series.

The others I'm scratching my head a little with, namely if the MDK rumor is true.

The two Australian teams that'll be announced are very solid.

ML, please find out more information on how the series is structured. Besides travel subsidy, is there anything like profit sharing or equity stake in the series? Will the teams be allowed more merchandising or social-media privileges? Curious to see how it will be structured differently from our US series.

All the teams get financial assistance from the series in the form of structured payments and a show up fee per event they attend.

The teams do have a buy-in to secure their spot and I believe if they make it past the third year, they own their spot and can sell it if they'd like.

If this draws away US SX specialists and top riders in the last few years of their careers, does this result in AMA putting more money and promotion into the US outdoor series to try to keep it relevant...

Or is it possible that our series gets blended into MXGP eventually?

(Yes, I know it's upsetting, so mash that thumbs-down button.)

If they don't manage to attract top teir riders it will be a second rate series no matter what they call it . Being scheduled during AMA outdoors and MXGP I just can't root for it's success . If it can thrive as a series for second teir riders and semi retired older pros I guess that's ok but that also weakens the outdoors. That said I guess I'll watch. When will riders be announced ?

With 2 different owners I doubt it will get Absorbed into mxgp. It will either work and keep going or fail and go away like the previous versions did

I see they are down to 4 rounds this year already ,

Konskey Honda team and cdr Yamaha are the rumoured Australia teams. Interesting that a ktm group team has not been announced yet

They are the 2 teams I was expecting without hearing any rumours. Then it makes me think. Who is brayton going to be loyal to? Who will have a better bike. Mcr or konsky.

I'm not doubting that jb will be with mcr.
I just don't know if being "loyal" would be the right words.
His last 6or7 years of international racing have been with konsky. The only time konsky had a 450 ama team he had brayton on it and got his last podium. If he rode for yarrives team he would also be loyal.
I just know how hungry for winning yarrive is and if he wants brayton he will do anything he can to get him.
It will be interesting coz they use a lot of the same riders just at the opposite time if the year. Now they will be head to head. And this will prob mean Oldenburg and Jordan Smith are both racing as well a freise

I presume the 2023 series will Clash with Aussie mx series , so cdr and any other Aussie team would need riders for both championships

Also cdr bikes are funded out of Yamaha Australia , I wonder if budgets are extended by there or a budget approved out of Japan

If we read into your last two posts, regarding at least one more Honda team and One more Yamaha, and this post with two solid Australian teams, I am guessing you are hearing Konsky will be running some form of team with some form of Backing from Honda and the CDR Yamaha team.

They are two solid teams for sure if it was to be them two.

Wonder if the final four teams will be made up of at least one KTM, GAS GAS and Husqvarna teams.

Interesting days ahead.

What I don’t understand is why everyone wants to pile on and criticise a new series that’s trying to grow the sport?
Before it’s even started?!

It may or may not work out, but good on Global for giving it a monumental go.

I can only speak for myself but like I said in my earlier post it's hard for me to support it if it threatens the quality and stability of outdoor motocross .
