Anybody have some good pictures of Team Tamm riders? I’m hoping to have a jersey recreated from a good picture. Also what issue of Racer-X that had the Team Tamm story Sparkle and Fade? Thanks Jon

That is true, raced a few 125B races in MI and in his second year of racing was killing it in the 125A class and went to the amateur nationals in Atlanta and finished top 5 in the 125A...Al didn't train much but rode more than anybody I had ever seen before. Back in those days riding all day every day was unheard of...keeping his bike together was a bitch...

A friend of mine found the Darrin Motada's Team Tamm jersey at a garage sale somewhere in the South Bay and asked me if I'd be interested in it, as he didn't know much about Team Tamm. We settled on a fair price and I ended up with the jersey. Before storing away the jersey with the rest of my vintage motocross memorabilia, I figured I'd share it with some friends in a group text who might know more of the back story behind it. In this group text, is my friend Jeff Scott, a Saddleback Park local and his lifelong buddy Jim Brodie who raced for Team Tamm. Overtime I've gotten to be friends with Jim as well and often times, Team Tamm is the topic of the day in our messages. Anyhow, after sharing the jersey with Jeff and Jim, Jeff said he knew that Swap would really cherish the jersey as he knew Swap and Darrin were very close friends and Swap was very saddened over Darrin's passing. Jeff put Swap and I in touch and we finally met up months later at Milestone for Maxima's 927 day, where he traded me a bitchin' Cole Seely helmet that is now displayed in my sons room. Swap was stoked to say the least!

Here's a little more about it via Swap.

I knew Darrin well. I met him ironically at Saddleback Saturday during a race. He was racing 125 Int and I was in the 250 Int (probably with Jeff Scott on the gate also). I was running top 5 and he was having a bad day. We caught him in a fast section and Darrin fell in front of me and I hit him a full tilt boogie big time. Needless to say I went down hard. His new RM125 bike was destroyed and I was so mad. I came up with a few choice verbs and nouns yelling at him and he just apologized laying in the dirt. After the moto he came up to me and apologized again and we started laughing about the whole deal. He brought over his sorta new bike... his rear fender was pretty much destroyed and the subframe bent. I felt bad tbh but we started laughing again; he had that big Darrin grin and all was good. We became friends and we found out that we knew a lot of the same people. Ross, Donnie, Kurt Rood and Jeff Scott.

I miss his laughter, smile and positive outlook. He was a true friend. His jersey is in good hands with Donnie.

Was a huge fan of the Team Tamm satellite team back in the day. I picked up an old school Yamaha Team Tamm jersey off Enay recently. Works perfect with my 80’s Team Yamaha kit for Post Vintage Yz 100 racing here in North Texas. Pic from Diamond Don’s 2020

Stumbled on this. Not a great jersey pic, but a great pic. Jeff Hicks 1984.

I liked the approach and if memory serves correctly Team Tamm and Fox racing were one of the first small B teams even in SX/MX

Hey guys! Found these 80’s team tamm pants size 36 that are the same style Alan king wore. Would anyone in this forum be interested in them or help me identify them as a pair sold at a shop or if these could possibly be race worn? The tag has 36 and R15 written on them.. thanks guys!

Got my 2022 Team Tamm Kit all pulled together with a little help from some NOS pants I found on EBay and a repo jersey from @superspeed.id on Instagram. Trying to keep the Team Tamm look alive in North Texas.

We used to refer to them jokingly as Team Tamm pon. No offense of course.

Back in the day I had a cool white team Tamm hat. My brother went down to Mexico with my rm 80 and my hat for some reason. He was racing in town with my hat on  when the police saw him. He took off and my hat blew off. He couldn't stop. Later that night he was in a cantina and saw a big local guy wearing it. I said why didn't you get it back. He said it was a big local guy.  So I lost my hat.

I actually have a Honda Team Tamm Jersey hanging up somewhere.

Bought this jersey from Dave C in 1985 when the parts counter was down stairs. Dave is still there only upstairs now. Team Tamm

Tamm was a solid B team the 2 or 3 years they were on the circuit.

Didn't  A.J.Whiting spend some time on Team Tamm?

9/10/2025 7:50pm

If I remember right the late Rob Selvy  did motors for them ...

Yes, AJ rode for them in 84.

I had two buddies ride for Tamm, the late great Mike Shoemaker, and Johnny Whelchel. They gave Mike a 1982 911 turbo to drive in 83. The team was building, until his wife slept with one of the riders.

I used to wrench for Alan King prior to Tamm and have heard all the stories....
