Thats a well setup 501! I picked up a 2017 500 EXC this winter with a Vortex ECU and have put a little time on it this spring, very nice bike! Between the KX450XC, KTM 300 TPI and KTM 500, I've found each have their own niche and it really boils down to what you are trying to do. Fun having options!

Completely agree on having choices. I have been riding for 38 years and up to 3 months ago always only had one bike at a time. Having two bikes in the garage is all new for me.

Having my GasGas 450 for moto and this 501s for off-road/enduro has been great. I just put some moto’ ish suspension on the 501 (AER fork off of my 21 GasGas and my 21 GasGas shock that has been valved and sprung) and might try it out at Cahuilla this weekend just for the fun of it.

How do you like that 300? I think if I were to get another bike that is on my list.

Very interested in the Stark when it comes out (hopefully not opening a can of worms here). If it is anything like they are claiming, my next bike might not have a gas tank. I am not one that thinks this electric is going to replace anything, just another option.

For me, the 300 is an ideal weapon for technical single track. I'm a fan of pretty much all forms of riding across the spectrum and depends what your focus or goal is. If the goal is to go fast and its a mix of moto or faster offroad, 450 is the best. The 300 is super fun and if you get into hard enduro type riding, is the only way to go. Its very fun to ride in all offroad domains, but I'm faster on the 450. I did get a license plate for the 300 so its been fun to dual sport but it doesn't have the gearing to make gravel or pavement enjoyable.

The dual sport is just fun for a jack of all trades. Have a CO trip coming up this summer and being able to ADV ride and ride single track with just one bike, 500 seems like the best bet.

I'd recommend checking out the NGPC d37 series racers over WORCS. More enjoyable courses and the promoters care about the riders.

WORCS is more about creating obstacles that will make for crash videos to rack up their YouTube views. They literally don't care about their riders, and they will tell you that Laughing

Seriously, that thing is gorgeous.

I have been impressed with the Beta watching Dare Demartile ride it a few weeks ago. It seems to be holding up mechanically, sounds mean and the chassis looks like it works pretty well. I'd like to ride one soon.

Enjoy, let us know what you think!

They are very nice bikes. The seat and the price tags really hurt my butt though. Shocked

My husky fc350.. probably should have started with an fx.. buuut Utah’s bike market (like everywhere) is bananas so I jumped when I had the chance at something that wasn’t beat to hell.

Got the fat boy springs put in my ‘21 390. Paired that with a Scott’s steering stabilizer and BRP sub mount, and some minor goodies like an FMF and I’m absolutely in love with this thing so far.

Just switched from 2021 KTM 300 XC to KX450 recently. Been fun.

Lots of similar brand parts between the two. Still figuring out KX450 set up and trying a few things.

Got it dirty. It’s nice, really nice. Coming of a 2016 YZ 250X. Just needs a couple of things to make a great bike. Take the stock seat through it in your nearest landfill.

I ride and race a 250sx. Built both sets of wheels. Showa damper behind the #plate on the practice bike Scott’s on the other. Coil conversions and some “shim shuffling” on both. Lower compression heads. Dry break on the racer, oem xc tank on the hour bucket. Love these bikes, so simple and potent, another year or two in 250A then I’ll probably go four stroke and race a age group class.

Problem doesn’t stop there. I normally just moto the rmz but I threw a tank on it and did the Virginia city Gp with it(mistake set up way too stiff)

500exc for burning in trail, riding from the house and the occasional happy hour haha

Pretty basic setup for me. This is what I run for West coast sprint enduros.

2006 RM250 stock engine

1. RG3 moto suspension (usually soften it up about 4-7 clicks from moto depending on conditions)
2. Handguards
3. Skid Plate
4. 18" Rear Wheel
5. Hinson basket with KG clutch kit
6. Pro Circuit pipe and spark arrestor
7. O Ring chain with +2 teeth on the rear
8. TM chain guide

After three years on a KTM250xc I swapped to a KX450X. Added some open ended handguards , a remapped ignition, rekluse and some gearing changes to suit the ride.
Basically stock everything else. I have a larger tank now for those deeper excursions but stock does good for the 25 or so mile loops we do on weekends and keeps the bike light.
Didn’t even revalve suspension just fork springs for my weight and I was very happy

Finally got to take her out and ride again this summer. Forgot to mention, when I bought it, I had the air forks revalved for off road- never had anything but stock suspension, he’ll, never had air forks before this either, but I knew from a few rides in the Utah dez that the mx valving had to go. It came with a plastic skid plate and ims tank with a full pc pipe from the previous owner. So it was about as “set up” for my version of off road riding as could be.

I just added pretty parts to make it mine. Added a thrill seekers seat cover cause that stock cover was not my favorite, some flo pegs for a wider platform, and a set of windham bend pro taper bars to see how I liked it. So far unsure. We’ll see if my opinion changes after a race or two in the old and slow class

I've been super happy with my KX. Did you get much time on the remap before you had it done? Who did it for you and where did you see the biggest difference?

Yeah man I did about 12 hrs on it before the remap. I was looking for more power midrange.
I had a strange on off throttle jerkiness too but it was all fixed with the remap.
Really liked it before but was just looking to make it better.

Hey I've got a '22 KX450 with the stock fuel tank, I'm planning on doing the Ridgecrest NGPC with it. You think the standard fuel capacity is enough for the hour race?
9/29/2022 3:05pm
About 10 hours on it now. Nice bike. Is it better then KTM? I would not say that , but it’s a fun bike. Turns awesome, good power. I really like the 390 and also would like to try the 200 2-stroke out. Also the 450 SX bike coming out soon.
