I heard a rumor that someone is trying to move the last National back to Glen Helen? Who would want to do that if he has such a great thing at Pala?
Thats the 2nd promoter I hear kissing ass who runs tracks or races in SoCal.

Glen Helen is top 3 most iconic tracks in US Moto. Some days I even say THE most iconic.

Sucks they can't work it out and we keep going to Pala multiple times in one series.

Imagine with me for a second, we have a weekend with 2 races happening at the same time. One is the MXGP world championships at Turkey, and the other is an AMA national at Pala.

Oh wait, that's actually scheduled to happen this year. It's like a competition for who can have the worst-looking motocross facility on the planet.

Maybe since you don't work there anymore they decided it would be worth going back?

Agreed on iconic. GH, redbud and Southwick are the top 3 for me. Although the latter two have lost some luster the last decade or so.

Both tracks have their good and bad points, we in Southern California are lucky to have both.

It would be great if each track got a national, maybe that will happen one day.

That said, why do you have to post this stuff in such a childish manner?

Even though I love Red Bud and as a former Michigander I've turned more than a few laps there I'd personally rather see the MXdN at Glen Helen than at Red Lommel again.

Cause even though he "has nothing" to do with Glen Helen anymore he wants to take digs at MX Sports and pretend that Bud had nothing to do with the reason there isn't a national at GH

Glen Helen has to be one of the top 2 or 3 tracks in the world, period! The fact they don't have the national there is a joke. Good for spectators and the hills are insane. Light years better than Pala in every way. Figure out a way to bring back GH, please....

The start, the hills, the huge jumps in the back, the square edges that will kill you… I love riding there and love watching races there.

After setting my Super Hunky Decoder Ring to “11”, I have decoded the following:

There’s apparently a rumor that 2X Promotions is trying to bring the Nationals back to Glen Helen.

Did I get that right?

...Unless DC and Carrie Coombs can come to an agreement with Bud Feldkamp, my Magic 8 Ball says:

Even though 2X could run the event, you still have to deal with the track owner wanting to run things his way.

No ML512 it’s better that I’m not there. And Brent a business deal takes to sides to agree and my opinion is Glen Helen is surviving just fine.
And unless MX Sports is trying to use 2X to do their bidding 2X is not popular with many SoCal tracks let’s just leave it there.
I bet if again an independent arbitrator was brought in things could be resolved to make both parties happy but DC did not want that.
I wish all sides the best, they could go back to Elsinore and offer them a deal. I hope where ever it ends up I wish them the best because politics of business should be each side makes money.
I cannot work at Glen Helen because of one person and it’s not Lori or Bud. So it was time to go. Miss it a little but loving the time away. 8 months I retire from work and let your tax dollars pay my way of life.

Unless you provide more than a rumor, I demand you change your name from Mr. Info. The real Mr. Info would give us info! I would like to see GH back on the schedule.

I was hoping someone knew more than just a rumor. I'm sure someone from 2X could confirm it or MX Sports or DC. My source due to political turmoil in Ukraine prefers to remain out of the picture. So instead of it being a rumor someone who's in the know needs to speak up. Oh I am changing my name to Mr Don't Kare but would like for others to know the truth. ML512 should know he's an insider.

I agree, Glen Helen appears to be doing as well as it ever has, there are events booked literally every weekend for multiple days -and hundreds of riders on practice days.

It is my favorite track, even though it takes me 1-1/2 hours to get there every week from Temecula. The brutality of that place makes every other track feel smooth by comparison.

I think the truth is that the nationals need Glen Helen more than Glen Helen needs the nationals at this point.
GH doesn't need another event to be successful.

And while we are on this topic, having a season ending event either at Fox or Glen Helen in September is not the best time of year for either track - A lot of racers got sick from the heat last September at Fox Raceway, not only my Dutch friend Elzinga, but even the guys who were used to it that train in the heat

crazy idea - how great would it be to have Glen Helen as the opener - then Fox Raceway the very next weekend as round two, and Hangtown as round three next year? If nothing else I think a lot of racers would like that set up.

I think the reason why Glen Helen is such a big deal is, it’s obviously not a bunch of dirt carted onto a flat piece of land. Glen Helen shows a little more of that real-ness in Moto, and what I mean is, which tracks are the most legendary? The one’s where natural factors and differences in terrain across the nation play a part. Southwick, Spring Creek, Thunder Valley, Red Bud, washougal etc… Glen Helen. Those hills. The nationals need to find more tracks, in my opinion, where the riders can’t just practice at a practice track and the tracks are mostly the same. Where there’s 12 tracks that throw something completely different at the rider each time, just due to changes in America’s climates and topography. That’s why people don’t like Pala sometimes. It’s not real. No hills created those jumps, no good ol’ boys made a little backwoods course that became a motor cross track, someone just shaped it with a digger about 15 years ago . It’s THE practice track. It’s the definition of “basic motocross track” in my opinion. It’s like a mxgp4 track map design 😂 Is that bad? Who knows, just my thoughts.

You keep saying you "wish them the best" but then you take petty little swipes at DC while acting like Bud has a halo hanging over his head. You should think about retiring from message boards as well as work...

Glen Helen is a Big Deal simply because it’s Glen Helen.
Period.

If 2X can come to terms with Bud? (Meet his requirements)
Well, shiiiiiiiiiiiit!
That would be good for EVERYONE.

I am a fan of Big Dave’s family and all the racing they’ve made happen in my lifetime.
I truly thank them for all of it.
From the very 1st LL’s (as a racer) to sooooo many AMAZING Nationals (as a fan)…and even a few GNCC’s as a “mud hole helper”…
I love them for making all those events happen & what it’s meant to me.
Thank you, all.

And, I’m grateful to Bud for keeping Glen Helen…well, shit…he’s kept it GLEN HELEN!
Thanks Bud!

Then there’s the simple fact that our sport has a business side to it.
Business gets sticky and people have their own way of doing things.
“And Therein, As The Bard Would Tell Us, Lies The Rub!”
Shit happens.
Relationships get strained.

But, BOTH parties are here for the same reason…
They love this shit.
Period.

I believe.

Glen Helen is the smoking hot chick who is insane and full of never ending drama. Never in a steady relationship with anyone.

Sully I have never said Bud is a Saint. In fact I openly said I was embarrassed by his actions the last National Glen Helen had. I just said if the parties can’t reach a decision by them selves bring someone in to help guide them.
If someone doesn’t like my opinion I’m sorry it’s just mine alone. To think what I have said in the past thru today has any influence on any one or event needs to rethink.
My opinion is no different than yours and can be completely different than mine and I’m ok with it. I would bet and am probably wrong but 95% don’t have a clue what it cost to hold a race and that’s fine.
If it goes back to Glen Helen for the sake of fans and all the other bullshit is left out I hope it’s a great event, if it stays at Pala I wish them the same. I don’t plan on working any of them.
My opinion of people is mine. If they don’t like it that’s there issue. No one is just plan mean maybe just misguided. No one is perfect.

I have no idea who any of you "in-the-know" guys are or what you are talking about but I'm planning on attending my first ever National at the last round so as long as it is still in SoCal then I'm golden! :D

For what it's worth, I love riding Fox Raceway, and my most intense race so far was there. Who cares if there are natural hills? There's plenty of challenge, and there have been many great pro races there as well!

That said, I'm going to enjoy racing the 2 Stroke Nationals at Glen Helen in a few weeks! I've went to a few nationals there, but this will be my first time racing (or riding) the track, and the last race of my 50s. It'll be a good way to sign out of my 50's.

Glen Helen is a great track. I hope things can be worked out so it's back on the schedule.

I'd say it's the number one. People all over the world travel to that track just because they want to experience it. That can't be said about the other tracks.

A few years back, good friend was in SC with his bike for a couple days. When he got back, the only track he talked about, (and talked about......and talked about!!) was Glen Helen
