Yep, those orange Cyclones were scary even to ride around.

It wasn't even my bike. I was 17 and I borrowed it to race since Honda was paying a nice contingency that day. I won the first moto by a country mile. Then I was passing the leader in the second moto and crashed hard. I spent the next 12 hours in surgery, then three months in the hospital and the next 9 years off a bike.

When I came back I picked up a used 93 RM125. Those were damn good bikes. I would holes shot my age classes against anything on that bike. It was a little rocketship.

Mine never looked this good.

These bikes ended 125 cc Honda Elsinore dominance.

Definately some good replies! The '87 Hondas were hard to beat. I think those bikes were a big change from the '86s and the next real big change didn't come until 1998 with the YZF 4 stroke.

I had brand new RM 60's and 80's but, they were a bit hard to ride so I kind of gave up for a few years on riding. Then at about 12 I was over at a buddy's house and his parent's had a few 185 three wheelers so, we got em out and held a few pics up races in his front yard. Riding that stupid ass three wheeler made me want to ride again so I begged my dad to sell my RM 80 and get a used RM 125 and I've been riding ever since.

I'd say 2 bikes for different reasons.
-First bike was a 71 Yamaha Mini Enduro. Just being able to ride changed my life. The bike itself was fairly unremarkable, save for how beat it was. I spent many very happy hours on that bike.
-Other bike was a 1980 Suzuki RM400. Introduction to horsepower. WOW! I learned how to maintain bikes, go really fast, and smoke guys much bigger, older, and more experienced than me. That is, after I finally figured out how to start it.

'95 Z50 (my firs bike). My 80 sucked, then I got a '00 YZ 250and started doing jumps. Then had a few four strokes that I thought I liked at the time, til I got an '08 RM250, never selling this bike!

This one isn't mine but the 78 Honda CB400 "Hawk" was a life changer.

The last street bike I ever owned.

Slid that thing into the woods after losing the front end on some gravel doing about 50mph.
Took a chunk out of the side of my helmet on a tree, busted my arm, stiches etc....
The bitch was my parents didn't know I owned a bike until I got home from the ER at which point it was really just a big metal paperweight.

Still have some of that gravel in my left leg.....lol.

2005 Service Honda CR500AF. Never, ever had so much fun getting faster than I do on this thing. Found out at the track yesterday that the bike is so quiet, I sneak up on the four strokes. They don't even hear me coming. Mmmmmm...nothing like out-pulling one of those turds up a hill, then motoring around the inside line and dumping a load of 500 roost on 'em.

Liked my '73 125 of this brand. Raced a '73 250 in '88 or '89 that was as fun as my new bikes....except the reverse shifter/brake combo. Surprised I didn't break off the shifter...lol.

Guess I wouldn't call it life changing but always fondly thought about this time of year with Loretta's coming up soon. Will always be cool to have won a class the first year they held it there. Hard to believe 25 plus years at the same venue. Seems like yesterday.

I did love that bike though...One of the best bikes Yamaha ever built IMO.
Yamaha got it right with that bike. I was to big when I started racing for the mini class so I got started in the 100 class. I had a 80 and 81 but when I got that 82 it all clicked. I was at LL in 83 the best I could do was 12th overall in the schoolboy class. It was a great bike.

This bike got me more tail than any other...

But Breck would probably argue that it was because of my JT baggies

I showed up at the races with a clapped out 1993 RM 125 but it made me feel like the total shit. I lined up against the 97 models and still kicked some ass.

Bike was well used by a local expert but I had to buy it since it came with a PC pipe and PC suspension, Factory Effect graphics and the expert rider told me it was bad ass and I bought his BS.

It looked factory and made my ego skyrocket. Best part is the stickers. It had stickers on the fenders, swingarm, and fork covers. I tell you I felt like a total pro.

I worked the entire summer to pay for the bike. First bike I bought myself. I felt proud I could finally buy my own bike without my dads help.

When I brought it home I was a afraid dad would be pissed I spent all my summer money on a bike but he suprised me....he was totally stoked and loved it!

It was the first bike which I was capable of clearing doubles and the the long tables. I felt like a true champion on that bike.

I sold it for 1700 bucks and I regret selling it everyday.

If I had that bike I would be a champion again.

sweet lookin bike bro

I bet that thing hauled the mail to the first turn and it looks bitchin

Must have been around ''77 or '78??? Only RM I ever owned and quite possibly the loudest production 80 ever made. Used to terrorize the neighborhood on that thing. Great bike.
