I've always reasoned that what Baker has to offer was more mental than physical. I mean, the guy has never lined up for a pro race that I'm aware of...so there's no practical knowledge. Maybe Aldon is better at "recalibrating" an already capable riders way of thinking than anything. He's more about the mental game of any sport. Cooper has always been a "gamer", getting into others' heads...and maybe his struggling with the new bike, and not being able to perform to his own standards jacked his head up, which Baker can adjust....along with his fitness possibly not being on point...

I think this past race proves that it’s more the bike for Cooper than it is an issue with his fitness. In the last five minutes or so he pulled away from Marv and was catching Malcolm before he fell. That sure didn’t seem like someone who was out of shape.

Interesting comment on catching Malcolm. Lap times indicate that Webb was not going to catch Malcolm (without a mistake.) #27 was faster from lap 5 to 17. Webb closed slightly in lap 17 when #27 made a mistake. Then, 27 was faster than #1 for the next 4 laps before falling on lap 22.
I stand corrected then, I seemed to remember him closing in on Malcolm but I guess not. Still though, Marv was right on him for much of the race and he pulled away significantly by the end. It’s pretty clearly not a fitness issue for Webb despite what all the KTM fans here want you to think.

So is it 100% confirmed he’s back at Aldon’s? He thanked the Lawrence brother’s dad during his podium interview for whipping him back into shape.

I like how the guy who made the thread earlier said “The post should never have been posed as a question, I told y’all he’s back a Bakers” has now deleted his comments. Grinning

Will take KR seat next season at HRC Honda with Hunter. Retires year after to give warm seat to Jett. Stamp it.

Sexton isn't going anywhere. HRC will hire someone for a season or 2 and then move the Lawrence boys up. They actually have the money to run 3 riders pretty easily.

A comment like that won't make you popular!

Doping DOES NOT occur in MX.... It happens in every other sport, but it absolutely does not happen in MX.

If I’m guessing, I would imagine KTM pulled the plug on them hence the lawyers

Just like in other sports, I don't care what they do

I didn't comment to disagree with you. (I should have clarified that.) When watching the race, I thought he was catching Malcolm as well. I saw your comment while attending a daily status call and used the downtime to lookup lap times.

For those insinuating it was PEDs, for Cooper it's more of a ECD than PED.

East Coast Dirt.

I am not going to say there aren’t PEDs in the sport but regardless the east coast dirt for sure makes a difference.

I grew up in the southeast and now live in California. This dirt is so different here that its ridden an entirely different way. I think it absolutely makes a difference to be back east with more ruts and softer dirt.

Another factor people aren’t mentioning are Cooper really kills it on smaller, tighter tracks where his ability to cut down under in corners pays more dividends. This was the first smaller track of the year.

He is going to be a threat at most of the races this year from here on out outside of maybe Daytona.

Chase, have you ever riden Riverfront or E street? I’ve never riden East of Utah and was wondering how the east coast dirt compares to the softer soil at Riverfront?

I live in NorCal, so I ride all around up here. E street and the sand track at MMX are the closest you’ll see to the dirt we have back east, but it is still not the same. There is always this harder element under the sand that we don’t have back in Florida. If you go to E street on a busy day, though, you can see ruts across the jump faces which brings back some memories of being back home.

Riverfront is mostly harder pack and more in line with what you see here at most tracks.

What’s great out here is the track choices and options. You can ride mostly any day on a sick, groomed track.

So Lawrence's dad's training input could be to thank for last night's performance, rather than the "package the team found"?

You cant trust a word these pesky riders say these days!
This has hints of Webb to HRC written all over it

Webb would be a terrible choice for Honda. Honda looks for clean racers with positive attitudes. Webb ain't that.

Dude can't even smile without looking like he's taking a dump.

I personally think what Aldon brings to the table is more scientific/anatomy "knowledge of the body". I think he knows how to get the riders "blood levels" etc at peak performance starting the season and maintaining throughout the season, better than anyone else.
