Well, that was unexpected...after about 11 years with Fox (Shift prior to full head-to-toe Fox), Chad Reed and his whole family of little groms has made the switch and are now head-to-toe Alpinestars. Minus goggles, which is still Oakley.

Is he planning a comeback?
Otherwise, the gear a retired guy is wearing seems kind of irrelevant to me.

I just wonder if the ROI on retired dudes is worth it.
They are cheap, so probably

for the small amount of gear they will give him and the family, its cheap advertising

I wish he would have stayed contracted with Alpinestars his whole career. If he had, he likely would not have destroyed his knee at Dallas in 2012. He likely would have challenged RV to the end of that particular series.

There's cash involved too, not just product.

While I know the joke related to that thread...just as a note, Trevor is actually still with Fasthouse.

My buddies all really like their new helmet. Great chest protectors. Boots are some of the best. I'd bet the gear is pretty well made as well

This retired guy will sell a ton of a gear especially with the following and his kids involved......arguably far more than a 9th place pro that is not active on social media etc. He is also going heavy into the amateur scene which will bring different eyes as well.

Fox definitely not worth their investment to cover a retired dad turned vlogger. A-stars sees it differently and must be wanting to get stronger in the youth gear segment

This creates as much interest for me as when McGrath joined Maxxis tires.

Shit...i don't even care what gear anyone is wearing. Except for this 40 + B class champ in the midwest. That dude is my hero (this post may or may not be related to lodging needs for the MxDN) Cool

Following the Deegan model. Creating social media presence for the kids as they develop as riders.

A lot better looking than the Airoh and LS2's.

My experience with the latest tech 10's was not a good one and the company doesn't seem to care that they have a problem IMO. Biggest waste of money in a while for me.

I parted ways with Shift (ripped the crotch area) and joined Thor and Fox..went with O’Neill for my son... Really depends what is on clearance at Motosport.

This, exactly. I'm sponsored by my local shop clearance rack, head to toe.

Lot of riders at Astars now, wonder if that is more them pushing for it, or that Fox/Shift is run by mtb people now. I quite like my Astars gear, but would never run their boots again.

No real difference if their channel was being sponsored by Quip toothbrushes or better health or whatever. Smart by AStars, the Reeds definitely have an audience whether you like YouTube vlogs or not and that has an inherent value to advertisers.

I've heard this same sentiment from several others.

My fly gear does that on every new pair I get. I don't blame Fly though because I have to get two sizes to big in mx pants to fit over my thighs. Gear companies think every mx guy skips leg day. I am trying out FXR for the first time.
