Back in the day on the ‘96 p-dub! First picture is from a track in Michigan. Can’t remember the name or where it was but my cousins lived in Coldwater and they rode there. And the last two from the backyard track

First real dirtbike was a 1998 YZ125. I loved getting home from school and riding the wheels off that thing. Never really bothered with any of the fancy riding apparel at the time.





Jumped on a YZ250 in the early 2000's. Always seemed to do fairly well at Unadilla since it was down the road. Eventually got hurt at Broom-Tioga which trashed my shoulder right before graduating from high school.















A few surgeries later and was off to college. Picked up a KTM 520SX (John Dowd inspired) and frequently rode at Thunder Valley before it became a National. Seemed to get some funny looks each time I had to drag that thing up and down a three-story apartment complex. Those were the days.

Here's probably the oldest pic of me riding, I was 4 yrs old riding my JR50 at Prairie City (home of the Hangtown track). That's my dad behind me on an old Suzuki 125, no idea what year.




And here's the last pic ever taken of me riding. This was 2 weeks before my accident. I was 12 yrs old riding my KX85 out at Argyll Park in Dixon, CA.

OK I apologize for the lame humor. Me on a '74 Yamaha MX 125 w/ laid down shocks, "long travel" forks, tall seat and a plastic copy of an Elsinore tank. The shot is on the Shadow Glenn track at Indian Dunes in 1975. At 15 this was my best Jim Pomeroy impression I could muster - I even painted my helmet with the USA "V" stripes like they did for the MXDN back then.

Based off of the radiator shrouds, your dad's RM looks to be from the '81 – '83 timeframe.

Something tells me we probably already have. I moved from Laguna Niguel 6yrs ago to Arizona , but I still race in So Ca. Last year it was Glen Helen a few times and Elsinore once. I am coming back to race Elsinore in April. I keep telling my wife just one more race and I am done ... lol

Dude you're right! I just asked my dad what year that bike was and he said 81-82.

When I moved up to 60's he got himself a used 92 KX250, then when I moved up to 80's he got a 99 KX250. It was awesome cus he would let me ride it if I had a good practice day. I could barely hold it up but he figured after going from riding a 250 to a 85 I would feel much more nimble and able to throw my bike around which was true but I just loved riding that 250 cus the power was insane for a 12 yr old. Here's a pic of me riding it out at Marysville Riverfront in CA....

Not sure which race it was, but definitely at the legendary (at least to the locals anyway) Maplehurst in Northern Illinois!

I really miss that track. Spent the 3rd Sunday Apr-Oct of the first 20 yrs of my life there.

Man, I wish this track was still open. My old man raced there in the late '70's and early '80's. I grew up in the area and live in Mchenry now, the site is like 10 minutes from my house.

First bike... 1985 KX80 although the year was 1992.
Have a long and wild story about the origins of this bike that involves Kawasaki UK, Paul Malin and how I blew the best World Champion back story ever, haha, if anyones interested i'll blast it out..



This is first 125 too... a trick looking but shagged out 93 RM125 that took me years to save for and put me out of the sport for a while due to the hassle of it breaking down so much. (Parents didn't buy my bikes growing up much to my teenage self's chagrin.)

I only have pictures of my '74 Honda MR-50 and '78 Honda XR-75, but none with me actually riding it! I think this is the first pic of me actually riding and I am on my '80 Honda CR-80 on my little track at home I grew up on. I made all the jumps and berms with a shovel, wheel barrow and a lot of sweat! Great times!
