Teams Practicing on Replica A1 Track

12/21/2021 9:08pm
RedBull Honda built an Anaheim track out at Wyvern Ranch, when RedBull was renting the land. The team spent a bunch of time and lots of money on the track. It ended up raining and made absolutely zero advantage for them.

Unfair advantage, maybe. Career changing advantage, certainly not, or everyone would be doing it.
Idk if Davi has ever trained at mtf. Just bc it’s named after him doesn’t mean he is the owner.

You do know that mtf is a different facility then where the house he grew up riding and training at right?

If there was an IQ filter, this place wouldn’t exist.
I can feel mine drop about 40 points as I click moto-related.

alright, let's get into semantics

my original post should read as
"pretty sure a Florida program ran by Colleen did this in the past. Millsaps never won a 450 championship, and the other people frequently at this facility (Davalos, etc.) didn't become champions because of it."

Side note, looks like he was riding at MTF as late as 2012

Don't know what your point about Davi is?
He ran the Red Plate in 2013 on The Rockstar Suzuki...
He's one of the FEW riders to have pllllenty of REALLY GOOD "Factory Level" contracts...
He's won SX 450 Mains...plural...and that is a small club.

So, I'm not seeing your point.

did he do that because of having access to replica tracks? That's my point, Davi was going to be badass whether he rode replica tracks beforehand or not.

Same with Davalos, he was going to have a long career with solid results without a replica track.

oh and at USA... i have zero clue who you are... but you want my attention.... feel better now Mr Cuckflufferstein?? LOL

I think this has been going on for as long as their was a supercross season. I had aquired a works tire in 1989.

Isn’t there a replica Lorettas track?

Practice the fundamentals and improve your fitness. You’ll do better. Besides all SX tracks are built with basically the same obstacles, just in different orders. You should be able to put a track together within the first free practice. The factory guys aren’t building the following week’s track every single week.

I think this is a bigger advantage than a replica track.

Actually, the tires? As of late…?

Well, it’s like this: Pirelli, Michelin, Bridgestone and a few other companies make excellent tires and there are some great choices amongst there available products that work just as well or…dare I say,”Better” than some of the tires that a lot of us seem to think are so “special”…

Example: Pirelli OWNs the sand.

What about hardpack supercross? No advantage at A1? I don't know, but you hear "searching for traction" more than "figuring out the track" when guys are interviewed at SX races.

FWIW this is a dumb thread

Okay Chiz you're right I knowingly exaggerated a little, but as the local John Deere guy, having some association with that build (providing the Deere equipment) I am proud of that "Daytona Section". I'm not hating on the sandbox or anybody else that does a replica track/section as I personally think they're sick, just don't believe there's necesarilly an advantage come race day

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epumaQUAeIQ
Yeah I agree it’s not much of an advantage for racing. And yeah the Daytona week is always a lot of fun. I think just the change of the track makes it a fun week switching it up a little bit. Remember by March we’ve been riding SX for 4-5 months already so a little “outdoors” is a much needed change and fun

"Every SX track is cookie cutter. I can't stand it when guys can do every jump/rhythm by the 2nd lap"

then...

"Building a replica track is definitely an advantage, fuck these factory teams".

Might be a dumb thread but the entertainment value is unquestioned.

I respectfully disagree. I asked my guy about the spec tires and he said they are as important as the suspension(to him). They are that much better than their of the shelf counterparts.

No worries. I know what they believe and how that affects confidence.

I don’t know why they release the track layout. We have some of the worlds best riders riding on “replica” tracks! We already have cookie cutter 65 foot triples and canned rhythm section. I want to see our elite show up on the weekend and have zero clue what to expect

This sounds an awful lot like a boomer that whines about everyone getting a trophy, whining about every one not getting a trophy. Ironic.
12/25/2021 4:51pm
I’ve ridden a few replica practice Sx tracks then went and raced the actual Sx and no real advantage. Way to many variables like type of dirt, amount of dirt, and different track builders. Also a lot of practice tracks are faster with more open turns as water truck lanes are added between lanes. At the actual races there are only two tough blocks separating the lanes not a path big enough for a 4 wheeled vehicle. Which makes the turns tighter and slower

The real advantage would be to flood your practice track the week before a mudder and get comfortable riding a miserable shithole.
