This has long been Aldon’s secret sauce: getting weight down. It’s weird that it’s such a taboo subject, but the frequency that we hear guys talk about the physical rigors of the sport and then see riders show up to a race 10-15 pounds overweight is confounding. This is the top level of one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. You can’t have 15-20% body fat and expect to win championships.

There’s also the psychological element of restricting diet and the focus that brings to race day. When you sit down three times a day to choke down ugly, tasteless but healthy food, you’re confronted with your sacrifices in an unavoidable and existential way. Things stop being fun when you’re eating joyless food that leaves you hungry when the plate is clean. Cianciarulo and RV both got burned out by this, but it also contributed to their success. The weight of those sacrifices during the weekly grind gets heavier and to do it all for bad results is simply unacceptable.

I’ve been a big fan of Mookie for years because he’s been one of the more interesting and enjoyable riders on and off the track. If this plan works, I think we’ll see a better racer but a less charismatic #27 this year.
What are ugly and tasteless foods?
Plain chicken and rice, .....?
Would love to know what’s on the plate at Aldon’s.

You can stuff your face like a pig the next 50 years after you retire. Sacrifice a little during your prime. In the last 20 years of 450 Supercross Aldon Baker trained riders have won the title around 15 of them. Hard to argue with those statistics. I hope Mookie gets some wins.

Yea I mean both Ryan's pretty much said the same on the whiskey throttle show. He trains riders to become champions, not to race for 15 years. It for sure worked out once or twice lol.

Aldons riders always looked unhealthy.
That's because your idea of what's healthy vs unhealthy is completely skewed by what you've been conditioned to accept

A Mookie that can go a whole moto at full speed will be fun to watch and root for.

If Mookie were to win the SX title, what would Uptite say then?Woohoo Mookie looks awesome BTW. If he can stay off the ground and just be consistent he can certainly hang around the top 5 long enough to put him in the conversation.

Don’t think AC can count (IMO) as he was still a boy and again IMO the body needs to be fully grown for Aldons results to work - want proof check out the ages of those that were successful Bon his program (feel free to leave out Zac). I really have no idea of their ages but from memory they were over 20. This IMO has been AC’s downfall and can only hope he recovers

Malcolm has suffered from rhabdomyolysis in the past. Not sure if Aldon’s full throttle approach will last long.

How many of the people saying Aldons riders look unhealthy have a pant size under 38?

I always pulled for mookie and still will but if he ever wears that black lives matter bullshit buttpatch again I’m out. I’ll chalk up his first decision to wear it as a stupid uniformed decision.

If his starts are on, I believe he can fight for the championship.

You make a good point, particular because the Aldon plan is really a cycling program retooled for MXers. Most pro cyclists don’t reach their championship years until their early 30s.

The personal attacks about people's weight in relation to their opinion of Mookies look are astounding..
I like Malcom and I hope he does great. I think it's awesome that he is trying something new to gain an advantage.
Is there any tracking on the relation of Aldons riders and Epstein Barr historically? Be interesting to see if he stays healthy.

Lots of chicken breast and fish with certain fruits and vegetables. Zero red meat, zero pasta and very little dairy.

Basically, a diet most should be close to.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict he breaks Barcia's first round win streak. Hopefully with a block pass.

I am fully aware of Mookies past issues as I can guarantee you that Aldon is too…and I’m also sure that those issues are taken into full consideration in the training program that Aldon and his team has him on and are monitoring it at all times. The assumption that many make, as the post above shows, is that Aldon’s program is one size fits all even to the point that any weight loss is because of over training and unhealthy….which is why I made the comment about armchair trainers…Aldon and his team obviously know what they are doing way more than anyone on a message board…

I think some people just get on the internet because they're unhappy, and then they try to spread their unhappiness on others. He looks great, can't wait to see what he can do on the husky, going to be a crazy season.

He would say Aldon made another champion a champion. Mookie is SX champ already, remember?

I didn’t say he was unhealthy, I said he had the appearance of being unhealthy. Aldon always slims down his riders, all of them. Weight loss and eating healthy is important, that’s common sense for professional athletes. But it’s a marathon, not a sprint for these guys. They don’t have to cut weight for one 30 minute fight like fighters do and then go back to their walk around weight. They may look great and feel great coming into the first two rounds, but try to maintain that for a year on a slimmed down diet, and on new supplements with at best two days of rest a week.

In all honesty, I think Aldon is getting new riders because of his KTM/Husky contract and not because people are seeking him out like in the past. He’s a proven winner, but he doesn’t have proven longevity and I think that’s what these guys want now.

I hope it works for Malcom, and I’m sure it will for a season. But it’s not going to last.

I’ll come back to this post when proven wrong. 🍻

Aldon’s system has been proven to work for over 20yrs but yet after all the championships and all the riders who swear by his system there are still people that doubt…Can he help everyone? No as the rider needs to commit and do the work….you think it will only work for Mookie for a season…there is only one rider that I’m aware of that quit after one season and he dominated that season but was never the same after…but that was when Aldon was still in Tallahassee and the rider was commuting to Tallahassee every other week, the next year Aldon bought his property in Claremont and the rest is history…With Aldon’s history you actually think that if he didn’t have his deal with KTM/Husky he wouldn’t have riders paying for his training? You do know that it’s not required by KTM/Husky that their riders train with him right?
My opinion is if he didn’t have his deal with the KTM group the first rider that would run to him to train would be Sexton…
