Been trying to get a Dr. D muffler repack pillow kit from them for about 2 month - they don't answer their phone or reply to emails

I tried to buy the "Pillow kit" from motosport and ended up with a bag of loose fiberglass packing (not what was in my muffler)

I can't even get them to respond with a part number I can use at a different distributor

I would think twice before I purchase anything from this company

So... they have not answered the question with regard to A) what is going on? Cool When can he buy product? Or can he?

Business is simple. Dubach needs to simply communicate.... )

Seems like someone needs to spend less time creating hashtags and more time answering emails.

I can't imagine what Dr. D is goin' thru just trying to get people to work out in Norco. I have friends in that neck of the woods doing everything from machine shops to construction to assembly...ALL..are losing their f'ing minds.

This kind of business strategy seems pretty common in the moto industry and then all the nut huggers stick up for them. How hard is it to put up a simple post letting people know what's going on whether it's parts, material or staff shortages. Doesn't have to go into detail but give people an idea

Can’t you just use any old 4 banger muffler pack? FMF makes one.

I tried to get some parts for my system a few years back pre COVID and had a hard time getting anyone to communicate with me. The lady I finally got through to wasn’t helpful at all and acted like she didn’t have time to be bothered with me. Based on my personal experience, I don’t think COVID is the problem here.

Crazy thing is, Dubach doesn’t need to do shit. Has he taken anyone’s money and not delivered product? Oh, you’re just pissy because you can’t buy a rad product he has made in the past? Get bent. Make your own muffler packing.

Owning a business is fucking hard. Pre-covid. Throw in the shit show that the last 20 months has been, and a lot of us are ready to throw in the towel. According to that screenshot posted, sounds like they’re on the verge of working some of this stuff out. Sit tight, be patient, and support a business that’s build a pretty flawless reputation once he gets back on track. Or admonish the legend’s good name because you can’t get your preferred muffler packing.

BTW, when you repack a DRD, you need to overlap the pacing along the Inside/Flat-Side of the can. If I was going to use a repacking kit from another brand…I’d use one from a larger/longer Yoshimura muffler (The DRD has a lot of muffler volume).

LOL.. oh yes, I run a business. Actually 3 of them. And I'm very involved with tariff taxes, imports, exports, supply chain issues etc.

CLEARLY Dr D could simply communicate better.

OP was simply looking for support for a product and wondering why he wasn’t getting a response.

Running a business might be hard, but communication is simple.

According to a few in here answering customer phone calls and replying to emails is fucking impossible for someone running a business..Because running a business ain’t simple. And unless you own a business who also ignores customers you just can’t relate..

There’s some responsibility on both sides of the dollar mi amigo. Ozy can’t be bothered to take the 5 minutes to jump on Rocky Mountain and find the very product he’s posting about not being able to get.

I’ll admit, my original reply was a little hostile. But c’mon man. “ I would think twice before I purchase anything from this company” on arguably the largest moto site in the world. This is Dubach’s livelihood. He didn’t answer some dude’s email about a bag of muffler packing and you’re gonna blow him out like that? A “man I haven’t heard shit back from Dubach for a couple months. Anybody know what’s up? And no worries, it’s 2021 and I was able to easily source the product I was trying to get” wouldn’t have been the worst way to go.

Well said (above). It's not that hard.

I have a contractor I'm dealing with that does the exact same stuff... and guess what.. .he's broke! What a shocker. Wonder why....

Lets try to engage some critical thinking - I waited over 2 months to put up a post on a motocross industry visited message board to state my story - I reached out to Dubach racing how many time - left 4 voices messages, emailed 7 times.

In the mean time I tried to purchase their product from motosport.com.
The muffler on my bike had what Dubach racing calls a pillow kit Here is youtube link so you can see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRCTyKxYytY

What I received was a bag with at least 60 yards of 1/2 diameter fiberglass rope. to the genius who said just use packing - How much of this should I "pack" into the muffler? What will this do to performance? Finally, why should I go outside my level of expertise when Dubach racing posts a how to video on YOutube and show's me the packing materials I should be using

The old saying about opinions and A-holes sure applies to this.

Again, I waited over 2 months to voice my complaint. yep I'm a impatient bastard for sure

Guess what, I did jump online and try to buy the product

This shows how bad dubach racing has become - this web site shows a picture of both packing and pillow kit for same item. The bullet point descriptions clearly call it a pillow kit. I ordered it and got a bag of fiberglass rope . . .

IF I could have gotten the part number from dubach racing I would not be sitting home today wasting time on the internet, I would be out riding dirt bikes with my son.

reading comprehension issues abound - I stated this in my original post but I guess it didn't click in your brain

My brother ordered a plastic kit for his YZ250FX online. The picture showing the kit clearly showed blue plastic for the fenders and side panels.

What showed us was a black front fender and a blue rear. Not what was in the picture. We inquired to the seller what was going on and they asked what did we order? We ordered the kit in the picture! With the description.... that matched the picture.

This stuff is everywhere. People are not in general getting smarter.... Sadly.

I saw that, but I seriously doubt that’s a Dubach issue. Rather, a Motorsport issue. Either way, I get your frustration. I just don’t think this issue is worth swearing off a company that’s built a pretty killer reputation. I’m all about calling out guys like Varner that are genuinely ripping people off. I just don’t think this is a comparable situation. These issues are only going to be compounded going forward. As consumers, we’re all gonna have to learn to go with the flow some.
Not for nothing, I hope you’re able to get out with junior sooner rather than later.

I lived in Missouri (Misery) from 2005 to 2011. When I first got there I wondered why they called it the "Show me" state, I soon figured out that by default, the Missouri royalty pretty much assumes anybody who has not lived there for generations is a total asshole and you have to prove to them you're not one. <-- they don't realize what assholes they come off as . . . hahaha

Border state issue they never out grew was my conclusion

Having said all that, I can see you have pretty much perfected talking out both sides of your mouth at the same time.
If you still need me to show you what I mean, read your first post in this thread, then read your second reply - They contradict each other

Enjoy Smile

I'm done with this thread - made my point and reasonable people can agree to disagree.

Must be the same people that sympathize with Varner.

Can we all unite over the fact that the OP is actually repacking his muffler? I wish more would practice this. Nothing sounds worse than an aftermarket 4-stroke exhaust with blown-out packing.

Moose used to make pillow packing for specific mufflers.
