MX Vice/Lewis said last week the second rider would be announced after both Mantova rounds. Boisrame did himself no harm with his first moto ride on Sunday (9th), plus he had a 9-9 at the first Pietramatura round. I don't think he should be easily discounted, even though the choice would appear to be between Vlaanderen and Watson.
I think this just explains why it is so hard for riders to get a salary.

There is such a big group of very equal riders available for Kawasaki to pick from.

Vlaanderen, Bogers & Lupino all got multiple top 5 finishes this year.
Monticelli and Jacobi even got a top 5. Watson got a bunch of top 10 finishes.
You got guys like Wright, Boisrame and Fernandez coming in and getting good results.
You've got vet guys like van horebeek and Tonus still getting top 10 finishes. A wildcard in Jasikonis, can he get back to what he was?

If i'm Kawasaki i probably have a preference in that group, but more based on does he work hard, is optimistic/positive and can he work with Febvre. But i for sure would look into using my negotiation power and get a good deal.

You know this story already, but for the ones who doesn't know it. Back in 2016 the KTM/Husqvarna factory bikes weren't as great as they usual are. The Factory KTM team had some problems and threw tons of money into it to solve it. One day they came to Axel (the home track of Cortami79 and the closest track for me to go to, just off topic) with one bike and I believe 4 spare engines. So together 5 engines. Jeffrey Herlings started his training and after a few minutes his bike broke down. His mechanic swapped engines and he started again... Few minutes into his race simulation and bwaap his engine broke down again. All 5 engines broke down, test session failed. The next day they turned up at a other track with Version 2 and Version 3 of the engine and Herlings and his teammate Jonass tested both. After analyzing it they made a V4 and tested it and that was OK. This all for marginal gains, to keep the most competitive package but also the most trustworthy bike. And thinking that this team already starts with the best "start package" to begin with.

@roninho, I will keep in mind to write Fase instead of whatever I made of it haha! I'm very curious about the second rider at Honda MX2 because I don't know if the support of HRC means also more money to sign riders. And for F&H I don't know either. Marc De Reuver has as team trainer a big say in the signings, so maybe Rick Elzinga or Emil Weckman. Someone who they are sure about that there is more into it than meets the eye.
I'm not sure but i believe Elzinga has as new manager who also is the manager from vd Moosdijk.

Indeed Rick Elzinga, Roan Vd Moosdijk and Kay Karssemakers are all using the same agent. But if he keeps burning bridges like RVDM & F&H then those riders will probably need to create there own team in the near future.

Rick is signed for another year in the EMX250 class, that is what he could tell me, it will be a good team who pays everything for him and will give him a few shots in the MX2 class when he has a weekend off.

Anything new about Isak Gifting? I heard that he will be on a Austrian brand.

Also curious if Kevin Horgmo will get a contract for GP or if he will stay in EMX another year?

Thanks for the info. Nice that Rick can continue.

A question i do have which you might be able to give some insight in: If such a team is capable of offering a free ride including wildcards and possibly even some salary, then what would be their reason to race in EMX in stead of simply doing all the EUR GP's?

Would that be because the support from a manufacturer dictates that they need to be in EMX or are there other reasons?

i mean if you allready are going to do 10 EMX rounds plus wildcards you are talking about a very serious budget. The difference in entry fee for 10 emx rounds plus 4 wildcards vs. the full season mx2 fee is only 3k so that cannot be the issue if you have the budget to do 12-14 races.

I would hazard a guess that for the sponsors and the team owners, the ability to contest a complete series and possibly compete for the championship is the main reason why they choose EMX. Riding the MX2 only in Europe might actually be better for certain riders' development, but doesn't bring as much marketable attention.

Just going of his mechanics instagram (lol), looks like he and Horgmo won’t be together next year, so I would guess Kevin has something lined up and I would imagine it’s not EMX.

That would be a big bummer to see him another year in EMX 250. He belongs and deserve a shot at a full time MX2 ride.

If he gets injured or something happend, he is again stuck in EMX for another year. Look at Sydow, it should be a career rebuild and jump back in GP MX2 in 22, now it looks like he can’t even keep this EMX 250 ride.

Another show, the GPs are not healthy anymore. When one off the top dogs in EMX stays down another year in EMX because the team pay more costs, it’s head scratching.

It’s gets me mad, when you can get only in GPs by having winning speed or a big bag of money

To be honest I think it more shows that certain teams and sponsors rather go after the EMX titles instead of whatever place in MX2/MXGP they could get. There are teams completely dedicated to EMX even though they have the budget for the full WC.

Which i think is great when they have a focus and role on youth development with goal to get a kid in a factory effort. Like Hutten Yamaha did with Benistant.
But for guys like Sydow? Horgmo? Or next year Elzinga? I mean i understand why they take this contract, but man we only had 26 guys in MX2 today, of which 4 or 5 don't even have the pace. And you've got guys like Horgmo doing EMX.

With the new season around the corner, ¿end of February?, there are 2 main rumours/questions.

Prado to stay in the KTM family?.
With the official teams in a hurry moving up MX2 riders to MX1, what will Honda do?. Gajser/Evans HRC and Fernandez/Wright in 114 with official support?

Agree, he didnt look so happy and i notice him doing less post in instagram with his sponsors.
This week De carli team went to athena and he was the only de carli rider that didnt share nothing.

Stays or not he doesnt look like himself.

Prado to stay in the KTM family?.
With the official teams in a hurry moving up MX2 riders to MX1, what will Honda do?. Gajser/Evans HRC and Fernandez/Wright in 114 with official support?

There is no other option for DeCarli for MXGP and next year really? There are no one that could replace Prado/Cairoli level so we could see him next year happy or not?

Lots of amazing EMX250 riders dont have anything for next year yet. It’s a mess.

Yago Martinez , no ride for next year yet.
Guillem Farres, no ride for next year yet.
Jeremy Sydow?
Hakon Frederiksen?
Cornelius Toendel?
Talviku?

Yeah, that's not true at all. Ben hasn't signed or agreed to any deal at all at this point.

I really want to see Fredriksen on a 450. That guy has a massive upside for a MXGP team, i think he could eventually become a 10-15th place rider.

I would be suprrised if Frederiksen and Toendel don't end up at a decent team at EMX250. 5th & 6th in the championship, i mean they should be picked up by someone.
Talviku i don't know, he apparently has nothing lined up right now according to his insta. He was great in '20, but didnt do much this year for whatever reason.

Fredericksen is outstanding IMO, but his gate drops are awful... he is the next Forato, needs to be on a 450

And Forato has done nothing this season on the 450 which is very surprising.
