It's not as popular as it used to be, but it's still around. The Japanese love betting on races; horse tracks, velodromes, short course speed boats, motorcycles...if it can be raced in a circle, they'll throw down bets on it.

"On Any Sunday 2" has a whole segment on Japanese speedway racing done by Larry Huffman. They pretty much explain the whole concept IIRC.

The views is what led me to watch it, didn't think I'd find it interesting but I figured it must be something good with that many. You can probably combine all the Bar To Bar videos and maybe get 25% of that.
