2021 MotoGP Season

It's (painfully) obvious that Marc is not back to full fitness yet, but he's on his own timeline in his head and desperate to win again. In many ways that win at Sachsenring might have been the worst thing for his recovery, as it gave him the taste again. His roll through the infield and gravel from 270 km/h on Friday was pretty nasty too. I hope he does not end up injured again before he can get fully back.

Also, in my previous post I forgot to add what a great weekend it was for the Espargaro boys, and also how good it was to see Rins keep it on 2 wheels and land on the podium.

Anytime in the past when he's had to come through the pack he's been a bully. He's trying to ride like he was before the injury and the edge is off. He's also riding against several rookies who don't know they're supposed to be intimidated when they're near him.
Aleix Espargaro isn't a rookie but for whatever reason he decided to BASH into him TWICE in about 30 minutes time.

And last weekends incident, it's not like these rookies have eyes in the back of their head and know Marc is gonna just come in and take them out.

But yes he is racing against guys he has never raced before.

I get why there have been no warnings or fines. Marc is the face of MotoGP now that Rossi is retiring and he's working his way back from a major injury, they don't want to ruffle his feathers. Right or wrong it is what it is.

As far as Vale goes, I take his comments on Marc with a grain of salt for 2 reasons.

1. He and Marc have had some heated races and press conferences, not sure how friendly they are with each other off track these days.

2. Giberneau, Biaggi and Stoner have said similar things about Rossi in the past, he's no flower child when it comes to trading paint, at least he wasn't when he was in his prime.
"2. Giberneau, Biaggi and Stoner have said similar things about Rossi in the past, he's no flower child when it comes to trading paint, at least he wasn't when he was in his prime"

Valid points, but of these three in the premier class I only remember Rossi having a hard on for Giberneau and yea that was harsh.

Stoner- I was at Laguna when he took the DIRT PATH to pass Stoner in the Corkscrew, don't remember contact but Stoner had to lift to avoid contact and was pissed! Woohoo

But yes Marc is/was the face of MotoGP but with Fabio in the catbird seat for the title will that change after this year?

Rossi was the face of MotoGP even up to this season and hasn't won a title since what? 2009? God those lost years with Ducati, ugh. I think it will take some time for Fabio to be the face of MotoGP, look at Joann Mir, it seems like nobody even remembers he's the reigning champ. One title doesn't do it for these guys, you gotta have multiple. Heck at this point Dovi is more of a face in MotoGP than Mir or Quatararo and he doesn't even have a title.

Rossi had that something special that drew people to him. Doohan won five championships in a row but people never talked about him like they do Val. The only other rider who fits in that category, to me, is Ago. Maybe Roberts at least to Americans. Marquez has a shot at it but will have to see because it's something more than the number of titles.

It's like Sinatra, Elvis and the Beatles.

Best racing in Motorsports. Great race today

Is this a new MM93? I was expecting Marc to punt Pecco into the atmosphere at the apex of some corner. It never came. Possibly he still doesn’t trust that arm for that kind of hard move.

This is an MM93 that hasn't finished a lot of races lately. I don't think he was willing to risk contact

The first twenty laps were a little boring but the last four made up for it.

I was thinking that.. I think the top guys know marc is going to always make his bs retaliation passes. He wasn't as aggresive as he normally is from his arm im assuming. On the flip side Pecco had an answer for every move marc made. It was great racing and nice to see someone not getting taken out by marc for once...

Caught up on the race last night, wow that was good.

Interesting to see Marc get duelled in a passing session, hasn't happened lots!

Holy Sheep Shit!!! Woohoo
Avoided this thread as I just watched the Race, damn that was quite a battle and Pecco stood strong and wasn't intimidated by Marc.

Good to see Marquez battle like that, he's like RC on a moto track--just keeps coming at you.

Shifting gears during qualifying Simon talked about the rear Holeshot device and how it is mechanical and at Silverstone because of a certain set of corners most teams removed it.
And just like I suspected--it demands a lot from the rider as he already has his hands full.

Just watched FP2 at Misano and it's raining 🌧 and the three Ducks like water and have the top three spots.

Oh and Dovi was back on a Satellite Yami. Smile

Should be a good weekend. 👍

Wow even with a DRY track it was a MAJOR crash fest in Qualifying!
These guys are really pushing the limit that and probably the relatively new racing surface did not help.

About 7 crashes total amongst them some heavy hitters who were trying to follow Pecco--Marquez and Alexis.
Fabio crashed on his own trying to get pole and Rossi also crashed in his Swan Song on his home track for no real reason.

It's sad to see Vale go out like this at the back of the pack only ahead of Dovi. Sad

Miller did about five stoppies on his way back to his crew. Laughing

Does anyone know what team Robert’s is racing for next year? Pretty cool to have 3 Americans in Moto 2 with Kelly coming to American Racing next year.

Anyone here going or been to COTA?

I will be flying in friday. Pretty excited as this will be my first GP I have attended.

Things to do around the track? Any experience things I should sign up for? Seating was selling fast but I am in what I think is a great spot at Turn 12.

Thanks!

Should be a great experience for you.
I use earplugs as my ears are jacked up with Tinnitus. Those bikes are AWESOME and LOUD! Woohoo

I wonder if Marquez will get his mojo back and win on his dominating track without plowing through the field and using them as berms.Cheerful

I'll be waiting for a practice and race report. 👍

Great ride by Marquez. Did Rossi even ride?
Marquez is a such a b!tch. He knew Miller had the strongest race pace and totally f'kd him in qualifying. I mean it's funny how nobody risks racing marq. Miller was the only one who said he actually felt strong at this track. Of course he just screwed him over in qualifying. He just makes the racing less fun with his calculated bs. Being at that race, that race sucked.

Also fk the track owner, they should be ashamed of the track in its current state. I could not believe how bad the track was. It's embarassing as an american fan. Without a complete re-pave GP won't be back. Shit track. News flash, race tracks are rarely profitable.

Finally got to watch it last night and ANOTHER snooze fest. Has there ever been an exciting race there?

They should bring it back to Laguna a track with character and history, but I doubt they will unfortunately....

Miller seemed to be casting most of his shade toward Michelin in his Saturday debrief. Rough weekend for him after such a promising start.

What an absolute DONKEY move by Oncu in Moto3. Nearly killed 3 riders. I'm glad he was suspended for it.

Doesn’t this type of thing happen all the time though? The weaving. It just hasn’t resulted in an accident.

Has anyone got any theories on why Marquez is so unbelievable on the American tracks?! Has he been beaten on US soil? Seems like even in a bad or so so year he just had it.

Great race. I was rooting for pecco but that damn turn 15 and the track in general was not letting those ducatis win.

Good for fabio he deserved it. I enjoy watching him ride like I remeber rossi back in the day. He didn't show much this race, but the way that guy sets up and makes passes is incredible.

Next year is going to be stacked. Can't wait.
