Check out the Alpinestars Sm8/10 . I’m on my second sm8. Very light n comfortable. Both have mips and the liners are adjustable for different head shapes n fitments. Only negative is the visor is in a fixed position.

Definitely been interested in an SM10. Looks great and anything Astars makes is gonna be top notch quality.

Shoei, Astars, 6D, Bell, Fly, try them on and see what one fits you the best. For me, that's the Shoei, but everyone is different.

For me, nothing beats an Arai. Say what you want about their approach, but putting one on my head is all the proof I need. It's like a Mercedes compared to a bunch of Mazdas.

The digger I took recently was in a sm10... broke my shoulder and bruised a rib... but no concussion, after going ground/sky 3x lol

So I'm in the market for a new helmet and I'm heavily leaning towards another sm10

I have no idea why anyone would buy a helmet without the new ECE 22.06 sticker, without the "low speed" impact certification.

I understand this only includes Leatt and Airoh right now.

Hopefully other manufacturers follow soon- they're all a full year behind.

I've had Arais and they sure are comfy. Right now though, I'm wearing a 6D. Both are quality helmets, but what sold me on the 6D was the rebuild program. I headplanted in a month old Arai and while it did it's job it was checked by Arai and said it was no longer safe. It didn't have a scratch on the shell but the inner liner was compressed too much and they don't replace them. 6D will replace the liner and other parts as long as the shell is good for usually around $150 or so. Hopefully I won't do that in a 6D, but if I do they can save me not having to buy a new helmet.

Had enough of the Shoei PITA liner so I went with Astars and it’s a great helmet!

Fly formula. I bought 2. I haven't tried them all in in 30+ years of riding, but I highly approve.

Shoei for me. Bell and 6d had pressure points for me (even with trying different combos of liners/cheek pads) I tried the Astars and it fit but just wasn’t very comfortable for me and the Shoei looks and feels significantly higher quality IMO. The Shoei just fits my head perfectly.

Shoei for me aswell, the other helmet I have been looking at is the new airoh aviator 3 as it is ece 22.06 rated

Been riding since 1978 and worked at shops for around 20 years. It's best to try a helmet on. Loved the old shoei's back in the day, but they did not fit everyone. Most customers try to buy a helmet thats to big for them and after a month or so, it would stretch out a bit and they would have to push it up while riding or look upward in which they get a sore neck.
I have had Bell's, Shoei's and last 6 years or so have run Arai's, in which I love. BUT, I just ordered and received a new FLY Formula Carbon Helmet. The thing fits excellent, very light and OMG its quiet.

I recently tried all the helmets I could at the shop (Arai, Bell, Shoei, 6D, Troy Lee, Fox, Fly Racing)... I ended up with the Fly Racing Formula Carbon as it fit my head the best and provided best comfort for me. In addition it has heaps of protection features to go with the comfort, light form factor.

I bought the Leatt 8.5. Really light and it helps a lot to make long days for neck tension. On the other hand, disappointed with the quality of the liners attachments. Some are broken with low hours. The helmet will not be durable.

I’ve had Leatt’s and although lite weight, both did not hold up. I really liked my Alpinstars SM 10 except the visor is fixed and the wind noise is terrible at speed off road. Currently using a Bell Moto 9 for MX and a Fly Formula for off road. The bell is super comfy but lacks the venting of the Fly. The Fly is lite weight, quiet and, super comfy for long high speed desert rides/races.

The 6d is a fantastic helmet but they are huge in outer shell size.

I bought the new Bell Moto 10 to replace a Moto 9 flex. Interested to see how different it is.

I have the Fly Formula carbon. Very light, cool and seems much quieter than prior helmets. Fit at cheeks was tight at first but feels great now. Glad I bought it.

Try ear plugs with your SM10 (and any helmet for that matter). Its so much less fatigue from all the noise, even in a "quiet" helmet. Most helmets that vent super well will be loud from all the air coming through the vents.

I've been wearing the SE4 since they came out. I've destroyed 3 of them and walked away from each crash...tho...I did get a pretty good head-ache form one of the crashes...the slowest one..what the heck?! 3 gnarly crashes and no head injuries...I think...?

Used to be a Shoei guy. The visor anchor fell into my brand new VFX-W and Shoei told me to piss off. That was the last Shoei product I ever bought. I switched to the Bell Race Star for the street and the Moto-9 Flex for the dirt. I loved the Moto-9 and even took a pretty nasty hit in it without any ramifications. After I smashed that helmet, I tried the AStars SM-10. I liked that helmet because it was light but the goggle port seemed a little small which resulted in my goggles pinching my nose a bit. Oakley Airbrakes take up the entire goggle port. Since when did helmet manufacturers build helmets without fitting the most popular goggles first? I never really noticed the fixed visor at all as the position seems to be well thought out. I went back to Bell and just got a new Moto-10 Spherical. I haven't ridden in it yet but it fits great and looks killer. It does feel a little on the heavy side but maybe that's just because the SM-10 was pretty light. As always, I wear ear plugs under street and dirt helmets. I keep a box of the Harbor Freight safety plugs in my trailer at all times.

Two thumbs up for the Bell products from this guy!

Hi! We are sorry to hear about the trouble you have having with the inner liner for your 8.5 Helmet. We have not heard of this happening before. Would you be able to send us an email to info@leatt.com with some photos and a brief description of what is going on with the liner? That way we can review and assist you further. Thank you! -Leatt Team

I’ll bet anything that, if this is the cheek pads this person is referring to or if the liner attaches the same way, that someone pulled instead of sliding them, causing the little tabs to rip. I just bought one from the Amazon warehouse (it said minor inside damage) so I pulled the trigger knowing I could return it if something was really jacked up. I opened the box and inspected the helmet, and I’ll guarantee the person who bought it first fucked it up and returned it. It was still new and hadn’t been worn, but it was as clear as day what happened.

I think its the same system as my 6D which had the same issue from day 1 where one tab would never catch. That being said Im looking for something different, either a Formula or Leatt 9.5.

As with most products in the industry Im having a tough time finding any Leatt's though. Might just wait a little bit and let the supply come back.
