I hate when kids throw toys at my face when standing 3 ft away.

“If I had this I could have been that” is such a pathetic argument. You don’t have the talent and ambition to be a top tier professional athlete. Nothing more and nothing less. These guys (the champions and legends, I’m not talking about a guy who qualified for a few nationals) have such a level of determination and grit about them that they would have been successful in any other job they had chosen. If your dad had the money to fund your racing to a higher level then maybe you would have qualified for some nationals. Maybe you would have been a little bit better of a rider than you are. But your dads money would not have taken you over the hump of “really good” and “great.” Dungey was great. The fact that you honestly think you could have been at Dungeys level is absolutely laughable.

Well I was going for my pro license and ran out of money because this sport is a money pit. And then the 12 month criteria expires and you have to start again. So yeah if I had more money I would have went pro.
And if you were a talent such as Dungey you would have gotten a sponsorship to pay for those things. Dungey got those things because someone (Carmichael and Decoster) saw that elite level talent and dedication that Dungey had. You’re just like 1000 other guys who fizzled out before making it.

He's got alot of talent and work ethic from the look of it. I cannot think of any ex pro's kid other than Christian Craig who became fast 2nd generation riders. Think of all the managers, and champions that have had kids and never made it . Haiden is doing very well.

And on the ”Hate” note, i dont hate the Kid. But the hype gets to much and thats not his fault.

When media trying to Hype him as a never seen level of a wonderchild that at the age of 15 ride around on a 85cc sized bike running amateur races while we have had a 15 year old winning world championship races it just get to much.

The kid is good but calm down the hype a bit..

This may be a dumb question but I'm out of the loop on amateur racing....is his kid Vincent? The broadcast showed a Vincent Wey out of Cali on an 85 but I thought they were based in Michigan?

I haven't seen that kind of hype for Deegan. Ya he's wildly popular with kids and most fans agree he's going to be good. But most fans who really follow the sport and know it's history know you don't crown a kid before he's even pro. Doesn't come close to the Jett hype that's for sure

To be fair, Jett has earned his hype. Of you compare what Haiden has done next to riders like Roczen, Herlings, Lawrence, Stewart and Pastrana at the same age it’s not that impressive.

But at the other hand, we live in other times now with social media that were none excistent when some of the other riders were 15.

Different times indeed ; if we really want to compare ages, even Roczen, Herlings, Lawrence, JS7 or Pastrana, have nothing to compare vs. Lechien and Bradshaw, who won main events with the big (and bad) boys, at only 16 (and were title contenders from that age in the main class). But in the end, coming in too early proved to be detrimental to the longevity; now the riders can "plan", if lucky enough to stay healthy, to still race above 30, 35 years old. That itself could have been a joke 30 years ago as most were retiring, if lucky, around 27.

Haters hate. That’s what they do. Haiden’s video about what happened was pretty legit. Honestly who cares, dude’s never even ridden a 250f.

Man, some of the things I read yesterday about HD just made me shake my head. And 99.9% of the people posting these things lives wouldn't change even in the slightest if the kid got 1st or last.

So I am curious. To what happened yesterday in supermini 2. I wasn't there and am only going off of what was said and shown in broadcast and social media. But looked like deegan was trying to mess with Janik, and ended up making a mistake (down shifting) and not being able to jump the triple causing him to get landed on. Looked like Deegan was playing some head games leading up to the incident, looking back a bunch.
Looked like a modern day Lawerance and RV. HAHA

To be honest, it simply sounds like he just missed a gear, no drama, no attitude.

He was hauling through the pack, and besides him cutting across to keep the door closed prior to this which was fair game, but he did go quite out of his way for it, you just can't see a kid who wants to win and has the speed to do it, looking around playing head games when he still has work to do, can you?

He had a look back to see who was where - as to give Janick his due he was also on it in that moto - then simply missed a shift and looked back to see where the incoming bike was so he could try and avoid it. Can't fault Deegan Jr on this one.

My thoughts on Haiden

I've never seen any racer, amateur or pro get so many free passes from Vital / racing community. From the cheating, track cutting, and this. He was offended that someone would even try to race him. He went way right bounced off the berm and then cut all the way back over just to block him. Then takes an inside line, jacks it up and almost ruins Janik's day too. To me Haiden's a rich kid that got a ton of support before he probably deserved it

I don't like his dad. When i was 14 watching Brian win a main, i was a fan but then came all that metal mulisha stuff and that whiny voice and laugh pushed that away. He nicknamed his son "danger boy". Even the BS response to this incident. If Janik did that to his son, he'd be all over social media complaining.

So I don't like the Deegan camp and like Cochran for the exact opposite reasons listed above.

Well said.

Brain is the same guy that threw his son under the bus at Loretta's 2014 when he couldn't own the cheating and thug behaviour.

Haiden's riding today was not good.

Your last paragraph sums it up perfectly.

Think of Pastrana. He gained a lot of popularity due to Freestyle MX and the X games being very popular back in the late 90s and early 2000s. He then turned pro at MX, where he most likely didn’t gain much more of a following than he already had. Then he retires and starts Nitro Circus where he becomes almost a household name.

It’s 2021 and kids are becoming famous and wealthy from YouTube. Haiden is trying to capitalize on that. Why fault him for that? He’s a kid that’s learning how to market himself. Whether you like it or not he’s also going to attract a whole bunch of people to races just to see him.

The kid has put in more work than a lot of people do in a lifetime. Let him have a little fun too because when he hits the pro ranks it’s sink or swim.

Josh Hansen is another kid. Nick Wey's son and Time Ferry's son are both really fast right now too.
