Reynolds Tubing/Chrome plated frame
Dark Green/British Competition Green Shrouds & Side-Panels
Silver Fenders
Euro-sourced hardware where-ever possible and sensible
DO NOT let ANYTHING look like somebody-else's hardware
KYB Spring Suspension (Because we all know WP "Air" ain't right for the minions Grinning )
250/400/450/500+ (No, not a 350 like the Austrians...a 400 sets Triumph a apart)

Models:
Moto
Off-Road Race
Enduro
Street Legal Enduro
An "Adventure" version of the 400 and 500 with Tan/Buckskin seat and optional bags
I like the dark green approach you are going for.

Triumph is a "premium" brand to start with on the level of the Factory/Works edition from KTM/Honda. Definitely not a GasGas type entry. Top of the line WP cone valve/KYB spring/ Ohlins suspension.

350 four stroke, lightest in class. I wouldn't go more; 400 looks like a 1998 YZ400F. Avoid head to head sales fight with the Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki/Kawasaki. Still have competition on 350s but it's less.

As interest grows and models continue, branch out to 450. I'd stay out of 250 class for now.

I would go after the upscale vet crowd with large displacement moto and offroad emphasis first. I would offer a buy up model with Ohlins front and rear and work out an Enterprise contract with Ohlins.

Take frame straight from welding table to clear powder coat. Billet triples, hubs. Work out an oem tire deal with whomever agrees to vend them with tire decals.

The frame and decals alone will make a two year waiting list for the 450s.

I would offer 3 models in each size. "MSM" Steve McQueen Edition (all carbon and titanium parts) , "MXR" Race Edition (ecu mapped for racing, starts button, traction controls, anti endo technology. .. "MX" and normal edition (beer goggles and beer holder comes standard) .

If I was the lead designer/project engineer here is what I would do.
First, I would establish the main focus of the project. If I was Triumph, I would focus on the premier 450 class. Depending on the size of the offroad design team, trying to come out with two engine sizes and bikes at the same time could potentially burn the candle at both ends resulting in two mediocre products versus one really good product.
Second, I would review all current suppliers for the current product line and see who can provide parts for the new project.
Third, after establishing that the main focus is a 450cc bike, benchmark all the current 450 machines and list the strengths and weaknesses of each bike.
Next comes the design stage, and here is a list of what I think personally would make a great British MX bike:
*Steel Frame
*Brembo Brakes - Triumph already uses them on their bikes.
*Ohlins Suspension (Non-air) - Triumph already uses their shocks.
*450 Liquid Cooled Engine of their own design - not helping the market with another KTM copy.
--Design the engine for easy usable power and reliability. Race teams can always pump more HP out.
*Cable Clutch - cheaper than a hydraulic system and use the money elsewhere.
*Electric Start - match current market
*Excel Rims w/billet hubs - use the money saved from avoiding Hydraulic clutch design and invest in strong wheel sets.
*Renthal Components - Bars, Sprockets, Chain - British Company
*Maxxis or Bridgestone tires - again British company.
Overall look - black plastic with Triumph Britania logo on shrouds in white, black bars, black gloss powder-coated frame, black rims with machined aluminum hubs anodized clear, black bar pad with white Triumph logo.
Target the overall price to the public around $9-10K MSRP.

I'm digging the idea of the wheels not needing anything to connect them to the rest of the bike. Thats going to be a game changer in the weight saving department and the ride should be really smooth also.
I was thinking it might lower the CG, combined with the front of the motor lower than the axles, the front end feel should be good.
Y’all don’t think the tank rubbing on the front tire will be an issue?

Why debut that you are entering the motocross market with no actual data about any of the machines. We need
factual information.

Its a 2 Stroke motor, needs some sort of deceleration for a 4 stroke feel.

Also direct to consumer business model. Cut out giant dealerships and ship straight to customers. Small mom and pop motorcycle shops be relevant again

Other than the suspensions and clutch, sounds like a KTM lol.

Build something thats cheap to buy, cause no matter how hard u try KTM will always be the very best they own patents or companys with patents on all the best things you could do.

So just build something that will help people go ride and build that community of buyers, themn build your quality bike after 20yrs of raising price every year

I'd buy this guys frame/rear linkage design (just happens to be mine, lol) and build an electric "open bike" around it.

50 KW (67hp) water cooled electric with auto trans (3-4 gears) with adjustable motor braking and mapping
2 quick change variable position batteries using only 1 at a time (like a reserve) Only need 1 for MX
Left hand rear brake and foot brake with jackshaft mounted rear disc
50 mm spring/air forks with crossover tube and adjustable ride height
Side mounted spring/air shock, no linkage with adjustable shock mounting and shock length
Flex bars with rubber mounted adjustable height
Steel frame with adjustable steering head and steering dampener

Why build/invest in an ICE powertrain that would be obsolete in 5 years?

How many poles on the motor? Out-runner for more torque? Sensored? Cell count?

And yes, adjustable drag brake, which you call motor braking, is standard on most speed controllers.... also yes, power curves (and even the braking curve) which you call mapping, are typically fully adjustable....

I would focus on the 450 class.

Make a sx bike year 1, mx bike year 2, sand bike year 3.

Make all 3 years parts fit each other - so the factory team can easily build the best legal bike for any track.

License the ktm engine - but put in an alloy frame.

KYB suspension

Our own swingarm - so people dont automatically think its a ktm because of its blatent ktm spec swingarm

Random side idea:
Make a large option - with literally longer suspension and larger wheels, bigger frame / plastic etc - all 20% bigger - get hoosier to make some custom rubber for it.
Bikes were developed for 5ft 5 Japanese midgets - us 6 foot plus guys feel like we are riding mini bikes - its so hard to stand / have a proper moto stance compared to the short guys - someone cater for us and we will buy it.

There's no right or wrong on a forum. Don't box your ideas in by what we have now.
Exactly! Some people consider 'innovation' to be new shaped fenders.. Bore off!

An outrunner motor on a dirtbike sounds like a terrible idea.

Shareable bottom end between 250 450 and 600 topends. Estart, kyb spring suspension, steel frame. Dont reinvent the wheel, refine it.

Why do so many people want this bike to be a KTM? So many comments about using KTM parts or engines. The companies share nothing.

Super high end. Stock with all titanium fasteners and axles, carbon fiber, kashima, and tinitrate suspension coatings. Factory level suspension stock. 10+ lbs lighter than competition. Vortex stock. Get stock. Xtrig clamps stock. Renthal bars and sprockets stock. We pay $50,000 for a car to take us to our shit jobs and grocery store. I’ll gladly pay $20,000 for a works bike.

The 250 would be overbuilt. Adventure bikes need to be HD.

The size idea is on target. Just don't only go one way. Fully adjustable for short or tall.

Sorry, what is a sand bike?

More than I expected here, really cool Mark. I think that is where the batteries will have to go. I suggest quick swap by removing the subframe. Make the battery position adjustable for when you run only 1. The rear suspension is an obvious space problem, I suggest a spin off of the PDS/ATK model, fully adjustable for rising rate and ride height.
