BIG MX NEWS LANDING TOMORROW??

7/19/2021 7:55am
Hot off the heels of the success of the Battle of the Baggers series, a new FIM world championship BOTB MX series will be announced. Title sponsors are Triumph, Harley Davidson, BMW, Ducati, and Givi. Ricky Carmichael will come out of retirement to compete, but Andrew Short on a KTM will take the championship.

Ok, only some of that is true.

Get the 125’s back in national motocross. 250=250. Get 450’s out of the stadiums. Permit wigglage by hips of 30 second board girls. Coolers permitted at all outdoor MX events. Let the riders sell their own shtuff. Allow works bikes. Increase the purse, dramatically. Bring back Toronto SX. No more broadcasters issuing redundant explanations of the sport. Bring back the exotic smelling race fuels. Ban loud country music over the speakers. That’s all I got, for now.
+1 on wigglage.

+2. Rup, of all the great ideas in your post, the only worthy of a pic was wigglage.

KTM buys Suzuki. Orange, White, Red or Yellow, choose your color.
Haven't we been over this? If either is buying the other, it would be Suzuki buying KTM. And it would be a damn shame if Suzuki's were a yellow KTM.

A US MXGP round is added to replace one of the ones being canceled? Idk.

I can’t think of some ‘BIG NEWS’ that would drop mid season that correlates to both the AMA and MXGP series.

Seems to be something that Australians, Americans and Euro journalists don't wanna miss. What can it be that they are (all) interested in?!

My educated guess is that it's e bike related.

Our dear friend Geoff says following

The historical British manufacturer Triumph has been using the greatest American motocrosser Ricky Carmichael to promote some big news that will be officially announced tomorrow at lunch time central European time. Triumph Motorcycles has been mentioning that some big off-road news is coming, but until now it seems as though nothing has been leaked. Triumph’s website and social media pages shows images of multiple motocross and supercross champion Ricky Carmichael and former World enduro champion Ivan Cervantes donning Triumph shirts.

Apart from the images of the two motorcycle legends, there is no other information online as to what tomorrow’s news will be but, given the history of both riders, you could speculate that Triumph may release a new range of motocross or enduro machines in 2021 or 2022.

Or is it possible that the Iconic brand enter the Dakar rally with these two athletes? Keep an eye out for this news as it comes in around lunch time tomorrow.

Another possibility.

WW Ranch has held a GP and they lost their national and Florida is very open so it would fit.

Rup- our local comcast gives us Peacock and the coverage there (MAV TV I think?) goes straight through the commercials. You're right on with the issue of so much happening during breaks. It's funny to hear Weege say "And while we were gone, there was some great action with blah blah blah..." when you've just watched it happen and heard him and Grant talk about it live while the rest of the world watched a Lucas Oil commercial for the 12th time.

Like I'm a part of some secret club. But I can't talk about that.

I wonder how long this will be continue to be a freebie until they say, alright, you're hooked, now we're going to charge you for it.

Sheesh I'm a cynical old coot.
I just resigned my contract and it actually stated peacock premium is included.

Edit: Apparently not, but i still think that will happen in the future.
The gates would be almost empty, so since any of the Euros that can race Supercross are already racing the AMA series.

That is probably true. But they are going to try it, i would be incredibly surprised if they don't.
if this were the news, do you think the FIM would take the risk without consulting the manufacturers about backing it and possibly jumping ship?

Switching from Peacock exclusively to the Outdoor channel. Stamp it.

Think I found a clue in the race schedule. Combining 250 and 450 moto 2 for an overall winner.

What I was thinking was some type of agreement between manufacturers to develop bikes with some commonality between batteries or at least an agreement to be producing race ready bikes by a certain date.

MXGP-TV.com and Paul Malin taking over US Motocross coverage from NBC/Peacock.

Blended MXGP / US Nationals / Supercross racing 2x per week forever. Careers shorted to 3 years, not continuous due to injuries obviously.

Unlimited E-Bike displacement allowed in all classes to get rid of 4 strokes just like they did with 2 strokes at the pro level is my guess. I’ll leave the sport after 40yrs of buying bikes, parts and gear immediately.

Ok call it capacity instead of displacement. Figured anyone with a brain would understand but I need to stop believing in the mental capacity of the human race. My bad.

That's already happened, when they do start making E bikes, all the Japanese brands will have similar batteries/connectors/etc

Yep that’s where we are headed in the absence of true leadership just like 4 strokes eliminated 2 strokes. Grab your ass boys. Stop buying anything until this shakes out over the next 5yrs

E bikes aren't taking over...This whole push to electric everything is just a silly phase the world is going through. Can't wait to see my first lipo fire when a pro tries to take an e bike out on a hot day in the sand (only assuming the factory teams are going to ignore the battery degradation due to heat and let the bike go at full potential regardless if its a battery pack destroyer every weekend) or even better watching Web putt around in limp mode because the systems are to hot.

You would end the privateers as we know them. Not everyone has an electrical engineer with them at the track to see why your down on power or why the bike isn't working.

Good luck to all that want e bikes to take over.

Exactly! At the time E-bikes become 'normal', most of us are going to be dead! Or at least, no longer the target demographic.
