Hunter Lawrence rumored to be joining the Monster Energy family

Edited Date/Time 7/19/2021 4:41pm
So I am hearing through various connections, Hunter has been linked to Monster Energy from a personal sponsorship standpoint (not unlike the deal with Chase Sexton). Does anyone have any insight into the truth behind this?

You think red bull would jump on him with Jett already with them. On side note I just notice they still running factory connection suspension on both hunters and Jett bikes . I thought for sure with HRC they would have factory showa kit like ken . Or is there rule for 250f class can’t have factory kit suspension must available to public also ?

Pretty sure there is a rule about it

Hammer is blowing it by not having Hunter on RB. He's still my pick for the outdoor title.

He was sponsored by Monster Energy in his final season in the GP’s.

Man I hope not just for the sake of his custom helmets. Things are sweet! Monster claw ruins anything that looks cool

I don’t completely disagree but to be fair Barcia has had some really sick helmets over the years. Same with Tomac.

250f can’t have stuff that other riders can’t buy, there was kind of argument over last year the ktm, Husky guys where running the new wp cone valve stuff and it was not a available yet to buy.

HRC almost always lets their riders test both, and pick between the two.

I think that the rule is for 250SX, FC probably gets the factory Showa stuff to begin with for the outdoors.

Remember back when KW14 chose factory connection B forks over the factory legs, or so they said.
FC forks can't be that bad.

That was a flex issue because factory Honda was running 50mm forks. He liked the flex and less rigidity I believe.

There is a price limit in 250 class, sx mx , and has to be available to purchase. Mxsports has all the. Guidelines in the pro rulebook.

This is the most important aspect of this deal for me too.

Don't often see 250 guys getting helmet deals. It would seem like it could conflict with future team sponsors. Hope him and Jett can manage to stay on HRC for the rest of their careers, I think they belong there.

Isn’t there a rule for the 250 class, no suspension over $8k or something? I think MXA wrote an article about it awhile ago. So does that mean Max Vohland is running the same Cone Valves that anyone can buy?

EDIT: Looks like RichieW13 beat me to it

The rules were literally posted for both sx and mx above.

Not saying FC isn't doing Lawrence bros suspension like they have for the Honda 250F the last 17 years but stickers dowsn't always mean the team is using that service. Sometimes just taking sponsor money and someone else doing better work or product. Lots of times with oils and things you cant see. Remember team Kawie FMF pipe with no badges but yes is different. Could be by KYB techs? And yes must be production based or available for any rider in paddock to buy.

Didn’t seem to hurt Barcia. Monster was his personal sponsor for a while pre-factory Yamaha. Hell, Red Bull didn’t even care that his wife is/was a Monster girl.

Barcia never had a personal helmet deal on 250's.

I was talking about the personal sponsorship conflicting with future team sponsors. I think most of these guys are more tied to the paycheck than they are loyal to the brand (one obvious exception would probably be Kenny/Red Bull).

This is not relevant to my post. I said specifically 250 guys don't get helmet deals. Team title sponsors and future opportunity is more important. I think in the Lawrence bros case, it makes sense if they have a guaranteed future at HRC considering there's no title sponsor.
