If Ferrandis's bike let loose and came to a grinding halt we'd all be complaining that we missed the championship leader and a major moment in the championship. Especially after AP's bike failure (damn - that was hurtful to his overall standings).
As much as I dislike the PnP it would seem to have been better to put Tomac in the primary screen and follow the smoking Ferrandis (a little bit) in the second. I was watching the Tomac - Roczen gap come down fast on the teleprompter and was waiting waiting waiting for the broadcast to notice.

Hopefully the tech will be good enough soon to pick which camera you want to view other than the broadcast.
Open up multiple windows on a PC and follow different riders.

At least they caught Swoll riding ugly and cross jumping Jett causing him to crash; and replayed it.

My final reply here and my answer to all other questions: I don't know why. I'm busy calling what I see on the screen.

So wait…it’s not the smoke that’s the problem, it’s when it stops? I’m still not sure after 15 minutes straight of hearing them say that.

The worst part is this Bondo guy infects both SX and MX.

How many fuckin times. Seriously.
I adjusted your thread title. Not liking the TV production is one thing. Resorting to personal attacks because you don't like them is another.

Someone might have already said this….

Listening to racer x review show. Weege keeps saying they don’t have sector times. If I have sector times, they have sector times

This is not a problem with Weege and Grant. They are an awesome pair! They can only call what is on the screen.

The issue is with the producers. They are the ones in charge of switching cameras, who to follow, etc.

I have seen in other sports where at times, the on-air talent will ask to switch to a camera and follow something else.

Can't Weege say on air "Hey guys looks like Tomac is making up big time on Ken, can we switch to that battle"

I've heard plenty of other sport announcers ask the producers to focus somewhere else. Wonder if Weege or Grant has the gravitas and pull to make that request on-air like others do.

If they see something, ask that a camera be switched to it.

Then you and Grant should be ripping the crew a new one behind the scenes because it has been bad for quite some time. I would feel embarrassed by the product that is being delivered. I know that you guys mean well but you two really get off in the weeds quite frequently as well. I'm not here to attack anyone personally I am just frustrated by the fact that the racing has been awesome but the delivery not so much.

To me, the emphasis should always be on the racing, the dramatic circumstances such as mechanical failures will always take care of themselves. Even when your watching a race where the leaders have checked out, I don't really mind watching a really good battle for 13th or whatever, those guys are fighting for that spot and that's where the action lies. That's what's exciting.

Catching up with a mechanical failure after its happened is simply the same as panning to a rider that has just crashed, there's really no harm in not seeing it happen as long as you know it happened. Replays can put the pieces back together if need be.

That said, I really like the commentary from Jason and Grant and I think a great job is done by the camera crew to show so much of these outdoor tracks from a limited amount of cameras. Its alot of ground to cover and I don't really get the sense that I'm missing any large portions of any particular section. It's a difficult sport to cover with a limited budget no doubt.

I'm just here to remind people once more, that the bike smoking is not an issue, it's only once the bike is no longer smoking that we should be worried.

Seems to me, people come and go, Bondo is still there. Ripping the crew behind the scenes would not be a smart career choice for Weege and Grant. They both do a great job calling the race.

They just said they have 15 cameras on the review podcast so maybe they need to get more spotters on the track as no excuse to have missed it period!! Just watch the MXGP race this weekend and see how getting to battles at any part of the track is never an issue!! With just one announcer at that!!

The last few minutes of 2nd 450 moto was ridiculous. Just effing ridiculous. Really disappointing. They didn't even catch the checkers in a professional manner. I think we saw a 3 digit Kawi cross, then a small glimpse of Eli. Unbelievably bad production.

BTW - who is Bondo?
I agree that it seems like it could be better. But I also have to believe that it is very complicated to always catch the best action.

I would love to see some footage from the production truck to know who is making what decisions, and how the whole broadcast is put together.

It’s just painfull hearing Weege trying to sound overly excited about every little thing out there.

He can be talking about some uninteresting shit like DF’s smoking bike while we all can see Eli eating up Ken’s lead with a couple of seconds every split time for two laps and then when the camera FINALLY changes Weege is like: WHAIT A MINUTE! ELI HAVE CLOSED IN AND PASSED ROCZEN!

No shit, we all saw it comming while you had to talk non stop about a smoking bike.. He starting to get as annoying as Ralph to me..
Painful as it may be it's not Weege and GL's fault. The camera doesn't follow their conversations their conversations follow the camera which is dictated by the producers not the broadcast team.

That said, i completely agree the producers are awful/asleep at the wheel 98% of the time. I'd prefer a random camera changes over whomever is calling the shots for MX coverage.

As it’s been pointed out several times it doesn’t have to be that way. Mxgp announcer Paul malin will see an interesting line developing or a battle heating up and will tell the cameras to get a good look at this or that, and imagine that they listen.

Instead in the nationals the experts are led by morons and told to cater to people who don’t know what tear offs are or where the brake lever is. And we follow riders around by themselves all race, or watch people rolling on slow laps during qualifying because they have a puff piece prepped that they want to talk about and they need the camera on that rider so it’s relevant. Instead of following the fast riders and forgetting their dumb ass fluff pieces.

To the producers of the nationals the fluff pieces and drama is more important than the racing. Simple as that.

I personally don't care to follow Ferrandis for 15 minutes in hopes that his bike blows for a little TV drama. They touched on it and needed to move on. It's a weekly occurrence where someone has a bike problem or a crash, then the production crew dwells on it forever as I scream at my TV to show the f*cking race!! Weege and GL are great. The production sucks. Watch MXGP and you'll see a much better product.

I think an eye doctor's appointment would be the first step. He misses a lot of the action, so he might be due for a new prescription.

Has he always been the producer on the motocross side? The production on the SX show has been bad as long as I can remember, but I don't recall having issues with the motocross broadcast. Until this season. Something seems different in the presentation, in a bad way. If they just moved him over this season that would explain a lot.
