just off the shop 1 x yz125 with GYTR kit for me and yz85 for my 11yo.
so excited and looking forwards to riding them but unfortunately we r in a 3-day min lockdown courtesy of covid 19
July is indeed an expansive month for me as 2 x new bikes, 2 x new bell helmet, 2 x garne mx boots, 1x atlas brace as our gear was really worn, plus new bike - must look good... Smile

Congrats on the new bikes and gear. Would love to go rippin on that 125!
2 strokes are the bomb
I noticed the forks are set up pretty high in the triple clamps on the 85, is that on purpose to lower the ride height?

I did not touch them at all but did say to the dealer that my 11yo was not very tall so maybe they have done it this way. I literally rushed to the store to pick them up yesterday before the 6 pm lockdown and back to store them.
I will play with the bike on the weekend sorting out sag, handlebars...
here in Australia, the 30th f June is our busiest business day as its the end of the financial year, so I have been working to get everything finalized.

Whilst running small wheel 14/17 you can push the forks through and run more sag for shorter riders whilst still keep geometry near correct. Then when time, chuck on the supermini 16/19 (big wheels everywhere else in the world) and you have a big wheel.

Done that with both kids to get them comfortable and raised it as soon as they were in control.

I agree. This year color scheme mis one of my favourite thus far. Been pondering to get a 20 or 21 model.
Just going to put the race numbers on and that’s it. No need for extra sticker/decal kit

Out of curiosity, what do you guys use to try and keep the plastics in near near condition for as long as possible

I am sorry to say it as you have already invested a ton of money here, but to keep the bike fresh (and great for resale), the best is to get a new plastic kit, graphics and seat cover. Unprotected plastics are getting trashed really quickly after a couple of crashes only, while OEM plastics with all the little OEM stickers are assets when selling (as the guys want to buy like a brand new bike, then they will buy graphics to their taste). Good luck, and great buy !

good point about the plastics..I will keep this in mind. I like all my toys to be neat. I really enjoy cleaning the bikes

Not really worried about resale though, you should see the aftermarket here in aust, it's crazy for a dirt bike.
As an example, i bought a 2016 crf 250r back in 2018 for $5200AUD and just sold it last month for $4800.

2 strokes seem to be even crazier

If we go mental about freshness (i have just edited as it was too long), for resale or not, then many get ignition and clutch covers as well (which based on the resale difference is quite a break even), remove rear disk protection (or make sure to get an extra OEM set), get fork stickers (+ aftermarket clamps if racing as it get some rocks), put other pegs and shifters, and the most hard core get a radiator set and a wheel set or change the rims, immediately or before the resale. That is why new or to rebuild are the most transparent options (as we don't take 2 hours to look at every details).

Nice bikes btw, the 125 looks absolutely tits with the pipe and the 85 is what I used to have which why I still love to see those. Enjoy !
