Any American citizen can be on Team USA. It does not matter where you were born.

DeCoster has lead Team USA for decades. Remember where he was born?

If Kenny is a US citizen I would love to see him ride for the USA.

You guys who say it’s ok. Let’s say Kenny did have his citizenship here in USA but races the mxgp all these years and never raced a national. Would the majotity still feel the same and be ok with him as a USA rider? Does seeing him race here make you feel like he’s more American?

Seeing him bail on the nationals last year over hypochondria concerns disqualified him from me ever seeing him as a red blooded American I’d root for.

This thread reaks of political USA is the greatest country in the world bullshit. If we’re so great and have 300 million people to draw from we don’t need imports to win. Hell we did it 22 times and 13 years in a row. We will win again. Instead of wanting imports on the team support the efforts of our riders/teams that want USA back on top.

While I agree it might feel weird to have Roczen or Musquin race for USA, a citizen is a citizen. No 2nd class/lower tier versions.

Honestly the selection process has become a joke for the USA team. From riders not wanting to attend the race to teams not wanting to send riders. Supercross is really the only thing that matters anymore.

Sounds great but MXGP season is 20 rounds and runs May to December. And their doing MXoN mid season. If we can’t win this year after our season is over I’m not sure we ever will. All odds are stacked in our favor this year.

You might have missed the 6 page thread on how the 2x supercross champ sucks balls at motocross. Money, sponsors, etc mean nothing to the fans only the riders. Very few vital members race supercross. Most ride/race motocross. Nothing wrong with prioritizing mx over sx as a fan. I doubt kawasaki will send a rider so Sexton, Barcia and Justin Cooper will bring it home.

I find it a little funny that some riders don't want to represent there country, a lot of other sports fighting for a position on the national team and wearing your country's colors is a big deal.

My question to the OP.
Do you think there would be many Americans living abroad that would wan to represent a different nation?
For example, do you think Zacho would have wanted to represent the UK when he was living there? he loved the UK, but i highly doubt he would have felt right representing them.
I know Kenny loves the US, but i doubt he would want to race for the US.

For many reasons there is very little national pride left in the USA. Don’t just blame the riders for it.

Personally I think FIM should use the same national eligibility criteria as the Olympics.
I think the license rule doesn’t matter anymore. They might have changed that rule after Trampas Parker rode for Italy and was beating the Americans.
In the more recent years Gautier Paulin rode under a Monaco license for a bunch of years and still raced Des Nations for France.

Michael Mosiman might race Des Nations for team Sweden this fall so that’s one. I’m sure he would love to race for team USA but it’s harder to get selected.

Woulda been cool if he had. Hell of an outdoor rider. Patriotic as hell.

A shame he never raced the GPs full time.

How many Americans move to Europe and try to become a dual citizen? I would say more Europeans move here and try to become an American.

Same would apply the other way.

It doesn't matter who you send, the US ain't gonna win anytime soon. If the US couldn't pull it off at RedBud, the most Americana track in the series, they ain't gonna win anywhere. And all that bullshit about RedBud being prepped like a Euro track, what does that even mean. Do they even prep a Euro course?

Unless you're an American Indian, you're just the offspring of an immigrant anyway.
