I wonder if once they will start selling for dirt cheap on clearance towards the end of each season like the moto 9 did.

I’m out. This sport is getting ridiculous. I’m all for spending money on a helmet but come on.

Dont get the moto 10 then lol
Get the Moto 9/Moto 9 Flex? Just because the moto 10 is out doesnt make the moto 9 a piece of garbage. Reg Moto 9 is like 400-450.

I assume it is the same weight or very close to the Moto 9 Carbon Flex? I can't find the weight of the new 10 anywhere...so I assume its not in the 1200-1300 gram range.

I have the 9 Carbon - Love the look, fit and tech. But my medium is 1540 grams. Does not bother me, but I'm pretty curious what a 1150/1200 gram helmet is like to wear all day long.

There is a swap podcast about it. The audio is down right terrible but some good insight on how they designed it and riders they used testing developing and there thoughts. It sounds like a really good helmet. But ya at 850 it’s out of my budget

I’m sure having a light helmet at 1200 grams isn’t the be-all end-all in regards to what can he called a “high end helmet” but they can at least pinch grams where they can. Get rid of those fancy flip-up visor screws and go minimalist Ti, and ditch the magnetic cheek pads (if the 10 has those).

I was going to consider the 10 if they dropped 3/4 pound from the 9, which is a tall order but even in the 1300 gram range is fine. 1600 is a lot.

I’d definitely like to hold one and try it on.

Being SNELL approved is a big part of the weight as it requires a thicker shell and more dense EPS. I would almost guarantee their sponsored riders are in ECE versions. I know most brands use the euro versions of their helmets which are not DOT approved either as the shell can be even thinner.

My ECE version is 1450gr (medium). Keep in mind they are built to pass ECE 22.06 standard as well, you’ll find a lot of the super light helmets on the market will be getting heavier as the new standard is phased in.

Rode with it on Sunday, the ventilation is incredible! Sizing is true to the Flex, but the new helmet is more comfortable on my head.

I’m sure it won’t be for everyone, but I’m very impressed with it.

These companies just raise the price to make people think they are in a "special insider" club. The funny part is there is people that actually buy into this jazz. haha.

oh and guess what? There is only a 1000 of them.... so they are super duper "rare" too!

I highly doubt that is true. The world isn’t one big conspiracy.

I’m sure there IS a factor of “setting the pricing bar” higher which then opens the door for others to follow snd reach for that bar as well.

But Bell has the resources and likely the desire to try to make a better, safer product in what is now a premium price point around $800.

Not everything is a con. I don’t understand that mentality.

Also consider - there are 3 levels of pricing to reach the consumer. Manufacturing cost, distributor cost and retail. Everyone has to make money to keep the wheel turning. Bell sells to a distributor who then sells to your dealer.

But yes the LE launch is a strategy to build hype and likely due to a lack of ability to go into full production. This helmet was supposed to come out last year. That part is somewhat valid.

Does your Moto 10 have the ECE 22.06 sticker?
I haven't seen anything in any paid reviews or anything on Bell's website about it being certified to 22.06. Stating ECE certification will be legal in the EU until 2024 (with 22.05).

You would think the most important question would be how safe is it and which impact standards does it meet but nobody is even asking.

No, all the SE models are 22.05 certified. They ARE built to pass 22.06 though, when the full 2022 range comes out later this year they will have 22.06 on the helmet.

Just think if we could have helmet shootouts with actual data like we do bike shootouts.

Show the consumer why your helmet is better than some other brands.

The consumer get shafted in this area it seems.

If you buy one in the USA it’s gonna be Snell certified.

Thanks for the answer.
I don't understand why they did not get it certified to ECE 22.06 if it's built to pass it. Leatt had helmets available with the 22.06 certification in September - 8 months ago.

Either it's certified or it's not.
