You know what's crazy though.. He makes enough money to not need a gear endorsement. And you bet your bottom dollar he is going to do pre sale option to build out interest, create limited release gear drops, and minimize overhead. As much as I would have liked to see him wear Renen or Fasthouse. He is going to make more money building his brand.

Most likely. He released 96 Slayco skateboards.

Smartest thing this kid could of done. Like it or not he is one of the most recognisable people in moto right now and he’s using it to sell his own product not someone else’s.
If he’s smart and does it right it could set him up for his future after racing.

Future after racing? He’d have to race first.

Awesome for this guy. As mentioned above, he's pretty recognizable, even to the casual fan. So he's probably going to sell some gear. It's a smart financial move on his part by capitalizing on his brand.

The real question I have is what the target demographic will be? I doubt the core enthusiast or racer is going to make up the majority of sales, but I could be wrong.

His videos seem to average about 250K views over a half year

Not crazy huge numbers. So makes me wonder where will his consumer base come from? Who are his people? How much market share can he secure and who would he be likely to take it from?

I would have taken gear deal money. Either those offers weren’t super high or he’s confident he can sell a lot of gear.

The dude is an entrepreneur riding mx bikes for pleasure and is making a pretty good living doing it.

He is looking into his future and I can only wish him all the best with his SlayCo gear product.

Tough call as a gear deal would guarantee a certain amount for a certain period. His venture into his own product is a calculated risk and could be built into something which can add fincial security after his riding days. He's young enough to give it a shot. Smart move.

Higher risk higher reward for sure. I could see him making it work.

Idk anyone who’s a fan of this guy. Let alone anyone over the age of 14 who would buy that gear or even want it. Could be way wrong but I predict a swing and a miss.

I would think he’s being subsidized by monster or someone. JT said once that it takes a million dollars to start a gear brand, and every business takes a loss at first.

You know what’s funny about that is not one person who buys skateboards knows who he is or would even buy one of his generic China decks. Outside of the monster bros nobody that actually skates knows who he is.

Well, IngIceDave said his vids average over 250k views over a 6 month period so its fair to deduct that he has a pretty big following given the size of this industry.

As the saying goes, "Nothing ventured nothing gained".....or go down trying...

Jerseys are easy to make and sell, pants and gloves are a little bit harder. I don't see anything spectacular or creative going with his solid white jersey.

Tbh, Axell seems like a pretty normal good dude, and I don’t see why anyone can hate on him other than jealousy. If anything, he does our sport good by getting more mainstream eyes on it (JUICE WRLD music video)

I saw him replying to criticism in his comments and I liked that. Someone said “make some for us fat guys” and he replied “I got you 🔥”.

Will I buy it? Probably not because I get gear from a specific brand, but I’m sure he will sell plenty to others! Good on him. Cool

See the bro thread for target audience. Every “bro” will want to wear this. It’ll pair nicely with their flat-black clapped-out yz250 equipped with cut fenders and grab-handles, riding D practice and catching “sick air” over the 20’ doubles.

I, too, wonder who and how big the customer base will turn out to be. I see his web-site ain't doin' too bad and that he's already got merchandise...so...he's got a feel for where this could go. Besides, if 1% of those viewers are riders? Well, that would be 2,500 potential customers...so...

As for the comment that it takes "a million dollars" to launch a gear company? I don't think we're talking a "full line" gear co as some are implying. He could start out with someone like Canvas & have a few short runs made on a fairly decent margine. As others have said, he could pre-sale & make some limited runs lke he did with the board-decks. Beides, it looks like everything will be "direct slaes"; so, the margine is all his.

Good luck to the young entrepreneur!

OK, who's gear are they wearing now? (and since LBZ is long dead...LOL)

That's who he's looking to poach from. So how large are their sales and if he snakes away 20% of theirs (which would be huge to do), how much might that be?

I do agree he's likely being bankrolled by someone

Man, 2 weeks off is going to rough on here.

I wear Seven brand and also TroyLee, I go for what ever looks cool to me and fits, Could care less if its "bro" "fro" or geared towards "moto clowns". Motocross/free riding is much like free skate, bmx and snow boarding. Its about expression and the style. Hope this new Slayco brand can bring some cool stuff.

My biggest thing about Axle is, when the heck is he going for the distance jump again !!

Cheers Vital Village.

Thanks for reminding me...2 weeks to wait. At least MotoGP starts next weekend. So that'll help fill the gap.
