Deepest field in history 450's, Shallowest field in history 250's?

Lapped up to 4th place, more area codes and people I've never heard of in the history of SX.
People keep talking about how long riders are staying in the 250 class, if it wasn't for this, we would have about 5 riders we've ever heard of to cheer for. I'm all about the under dog, but this is tough to watch.
Shimota goes from the back to 4th like he is a pro at a local race. I'm hoping for more when we go East.

Forkner, Hampshire, Lawrence, Pettis, Vohland. The shallow field is due to injury, not due to people moving to the 450's.

Im suprised more 450privateers havent dropped down (assuming they arent contracted with a team or to big)

I know 450s make more money for night show but at the least theyd be making mains and getting some results.

I dont think ive seen privateers so deep in a main

I wonder if people that could change things finally realize that the regional system has to be scrapped for one premier 250 class.

One 250 class for the best 250 riders that race all the rounds with normal TV coverage and streaming.
Then add two regional age restricted 250 classes that is only available through the streaming package.

One can only hope that is the future. The current system is shit.

You guys that think this is the deepest season ever are just not old enough, us old guys that witnessed all the years around the early 1980s know better. There were lots of years that were way more stacked than this. And better racing. Plus they were on 2 strokes! Sorry you missed it. I guess maybe for 450s.

There were empty spots on the starting line in heat races, so basically anyone that signed up made the night show. Pretty early in the season for that. Probably about 1000 people in the stands last night. I sure hope Supercross survives the Rona.

YOU mean west.

I guess your not watching the heats or LQC because these guys are letting it all hang out trying to get in.

I wish the laps were longer too but they aren't running 25 second ArenaCross laps.

I think the regional was a good idea 30 years ago but its time for a change. They run the full outdoor national why not the same for sx? The way they train these days they are damn near as fast at the 450 guys they are not fresh out of the local C class trying to learn supercross.

The 250 class structure debate gets beat to death! IMO it’s not a premiere class. It’s a stepping stone to the 450 class. Only the top riders from each coast really make it to the 450 class. That’s evident in the fact of how many guys in the 450 class have 250 titles to their name.

By the time a rider goes through the 250 class they have either climbed to the top or realized this isn’t the sport for them. You have around 50 entries in the 450 class. And around 40 per coast in the 250 class. That’s 80 250 riders trying to make it to the big show. So we should get rid of coasts and have 80 entries to the 250 class each week? 130 riders...Where will they pit? How will we do qualifying for all these guys? Add more timed qualifying Sessions? Which means more track prep as you have an additional 40 bikes ripping around. The program will indeed have to get longer to allow for all the extra sessions that need to happen as well. And then at the end of the night 22 guys of the 80 that showed up get to race. That’s a lot of wasted time for a lot of people trying to get a chance to showcase their talents and make the jump to the next level.

I think there is a lot more to think of than just getting rid of the coasts. While there may need to be an over haul of the points system and pointing out, getting rid of the coasts might not be as good for the sport as we all think. It’s already hard enough to make it. Let’s just make it even harder because we don’t like seeing Timmy busting his ass in the LCQ to make his first 250 main because he’s “slow” yet would smoke most anyone on this forum.
