Is there a rule that they only wave it for the top 5? Never heard of it but it makes sense. There's no way that the flaggers can know exactly which rider is lapping whom at the moment. When the top riders are lapping riders that are lapping some backmarkers there's just no way that somebody on the stadium floor can keep an overview over that unless he's only focusing on the first 5 positions

I don’t know if it’s a rule but it is what they do.
Top 3 always, 4-5th can be a bit hit and miss.

I believe he feels bad about it and of course he didn't want to be "that guy", but who the fuck does? He's been racing for a quarter century and knows when he's about to get lapped.

Nope, his take is just to stir the pot. There are blue flags everywhere, even when Deano is all by himself. The more obvious being the one at the finish line with the white flag.
