Hey guys just wanted to share my 79RM50 restore with you! Bought at Christmas for 750$ and it was complete, only thing I had to purchase was decals and seat. Everything else I restored. Enjoy!

I saw one of these as a kid (36) now and was in love

Nice job! My brother raced one of these in the Astrodome, that was a fun trip. 2 of these bikes, Dad and Mom, 3 kids, and a St. Bernard all crammed in a new Ford van for 10 hours headed to Houston.........

Cool picture, I forgot about those tank covers. And those plastics levers, I think we use or had shorter levers. Same color yellow.

I think the levers were made by Sunline. My brother and I had short ones on our '82 RM80s. His were the same yellow as yours, and mine were black.

So clean..very cool. Curious..what is the investment cost for a restore like this and once it's done in this mint condition, is the value of the bike now higher than what was invested into it? I have a 86 XR80 id like to restore. Just saw those two in mint condition on here that sold for $13,500 for the pair....crazy!

Looks like it rolled off the show room floor right into your kitchen.

Legal? Hell no. The RM50 has a clutch and 5- or 6-speed transmission, if I remember correctly.

As for competitive, who knows? I'd say the newer bikes would have a massive suspension advantage over this one.
