DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
Then I drove the TLD Supermoto rig for a season and then filled in here and there for the mx team for a while.
The next year the schedule interfered with the Ferrari team I work for so I set my buddy up with the job. I really liked working for the owner.
Have you always driven for race teams or did you haul a whole bunch of different stuff before falling into your current gig?
Which moto team was the best to work for?
Anyone have a pic of the Bar X Suzuki Team Rig?
Pit Row
Started driving trucks in the early 80's when I was still racing. In the 90's I started racing cars. Decided to go back to college and finish my engineering degree. While doing that I heard a local team needed to hire someone. Walk in and a buddy(who use to be a Yamaha support rider and fast as heck) I use to race with worked there. That got me in. With plenty of racing background, some engineering, and a Co. license I was lucky. It's really who you know. I've seen a lot of drivers that couldn't shift or drive for crap running pretty nice race trucks around. Funny that I have never had a skills test when starting with a team. My current team is kinda a funny story. Well, maybe sad for the guy I replaced. He still won't talk to me at races. Anyways, Had worked for this team previously a couple times. They called me up a few years later and said we need a toter home stacker trailer drove out to Limerock. When I got there, the other driver had unhitched the tractor and we bob tailed it to the hotel. This guy was hired from Penske's race team. He couldn't make a single shift without grinding the crap out of the gears and jerking the truck around. Couple weeks after the race they call me up and asked if I could drive the truck for just a one day test. They didn't want to fly the other guy out just for one day. Plus, he said it didn't shift for crap and they wanted me to check it out. They had just bought the rig used. So I went and drove it for them. The problem was one cylinder Jake brake was sticking. So the engine would decelerate quickly. To shift smooth you had to keep your foot on the gas a little to match the rpm. The other guy didn't figure this out and was double clutching on top of that. I tried to tell him back at the track not to double clutch. His answer was Penske brought of Fleet trainers to teach some of us and this is how we are suppose to do it. I told him that's great when your a beginner. Now you have experience so don't use the clutch. He just wouldn't believe I was right. Double clutching takes so long by the time he did that the engine was at idle. When I told the team what the problem was they hired me. Sent him down the road. I got the Jake fixed and am still driving that truck today. I have since bobtailed around with the owners and showed them. If a guy can't shift so smooth you don't feel it, don't hire him.
As far as Moto teams I never worked for the factory 5. At the time those drivers where set and not looking to move on
. I got an offer back in the car stuff so I move on.
Do they have the euro style trucks in the states, or is it mainly long nose trucks
This is the dude driving the Muc-Off rig, a UK friend named Bradley Ward. Used to race moto, now does MotoAmerica

It's really nasty
His knee caught the curbing and yanked his leg, snapping his femur....explains the case of floppy leg he has going on there
All are big fat American trucks
I take it they don't care about speed restrictions and length over in the states then 😁
Poor ol truck drivers in UK are restricted to around 54mph I think
